- The modified Covert Operations GT-1000 has good combat capability in terms of offense and defense.
- Capable of fielding one squadron of support craft, such as shuttles to help offload or distribute special forces personnel.
- Easily Modifiable.
- Can be misidentified as civilian craft by friendly forces, (in fact, that is the point of this vessel.) This can create tense encounters with defense forces when the nature of the mission must be kept secret, and it is misidentified as a civilian criminal vessel (perhaps a smuggler) by overzealous Imperial inspectors.
- Reduced Hangar size due to larger engines means that despite squadron rating, this ship can only hold two shuttles, gunships, or drop ships.
- Cargo space and hangar space are shared. Embarked craft displace cargo space. Each craft carried cuts available cargo space by half.
DESCRIPTION
The GT-1000 from GTROC industries is a robust, capable medium freighter which has come to see use throughout the civilized galaxy and the Outer Rim. Sadly, it has also proved to be a popular platform with pirates and smugglers, who often upgrade the engine systems to make the freighter into a formidable combat vehicle and blockade runner. GTROC representatives swear that this was never their intent, and the highly modular and modifiable nature of the craft is just for ease of maintenance and customization by legitimate buyers.
It has not escaped The Empire of the Fallen that this is a capable platform, and it has subsequently been modified for use for Covert Operations and Agent Insertion missions where a military vehicle would draw undue attention. The flip side of that coin is that friendly forces may not recognize the vehicle as an affiliated craft either, possibly creating some kerfuffle if they are mistaken for pirates or smugglers- with such harassment being a not uncommon event in the Empire.
This Covert Operations Corvette has improved engines whose support systems take up some space in the hangar, meaning that the ship can only hold a maximum of two shuttles, gunships, or drop ships. In addition, hangar space is shared with cargo, and each support craft carried reduces the cargo capacity of the ship.
