- Big Game Hunter: Where most sporting blaster rifles are weaker than the average blaster rifle, the GSS-11 is stronger, being more than capable of taking down most forms of game - and tearing through many forms of light armour.
- Needlebolt: Compared to the average blaster bolt, the GSS-11's is slimmer and faster-moving - perfect for taking intact trophies... or exploiting gaps in armour. A Jedi might find it somewhat harder to block, though this hardly compensates for its low firing speed.
- Exotic Pets: The GSS-11 is capable of firing unusually powerful stun bolts, in addition to regular low-powered stun bolts and its lethal setting, for what trophy could be better than a live specimen?
- Slow and Steady: Designed for the precision of a controlled hunt, the GSS-11 is only able to fire once every second or two, making it less than optimal for, say, facing down a charging tiger - better hit on that first shot.
- Dubious Legality: Significantly more powerful than the average sporting blaster rifle, the GSS-11 is considered a military firearm in many jurisdictions and regulated as such, despite aggressive lobbying by Glimmersteel.
Eager to position itself as the galaxy's premier supplier of sporting blasters, Glimmersteel created the GSS-11 - an unusually powerful weapon capable of taking down all but the biggest or most blaster-resistant forms of game.
While meant for the hunting market and marketed as such, the weapon quickly became a favourite of certain Bounty Hunters and worse yet assassins - its appearance much less alarming than, say, a sniper rifle. Glimmersteel continues to decry such use as contrary to the purpose of the weapon and the company's ideals - which has done absolutely nothing to keep them from selling the weapons to such clients and even, if the rumours are to be believed, producing customised variants of extraordinary lethality for a select few customers.
That being said, the GSS-11 remains a weapon for bored aristocrats, first and foremost - too expensive for use by most fringers and not as deadly as a proper sniper rifle, the weapon's use in less respectable hands remains a niche part of its market.
