PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Gristle is a member of the six-legged moth race known as Myka. He walks on his four back-legs, with two digitigrade manipulators serving as his front legs. Gristle is covered in a thick black exoskeleton that wraps around the entirety of his body and protrudes with vicious spikes. For this reason, he does not wear any kind of clothing or adornment except for a single medallion which he keeps on his neck. Occasional discolorations and cracks upon the exoskeleton are indicative of a lifetime of violence, though most old scars have long since healed, leaving only the most grievous.
Gristle possesses a pair of wings that sprout from his back, but these are insufficient to carry his weight and have grown vestigial from a lack of use and exercise over time.
A long extruding pair of “eyebrows” sprout from his face, distinctly similar to the antennae in other insectoids, but serving no obvious purpose. The fur upon them is frayed and ungroomed unlike many of his peers. Gristle has a pair of bright red eyes.
INVENTORY
N/A for now.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Gristle is a War-Form and has always been a War-Form. When the time comes to molt once more into amniotic nothing within the cocoons of the colony, Gristle will once more emerge from his chrysalis as a War-Form. He knows no other path, nor seeks one.
Violence and its expressions have become a lifestyle for the vicious creature. In every moment of every day, it gazes across the living things around it and analyzes how it could destroy them, rip them asunder, and what nutrition could be gained for the colony through their consumption. Gristle has become nothing but the hungering maw of his colony, the point of its spear, any personality seemingly ground away until nothing remains but this gnawing appetency for terror and bloodshed.
While many Myka commune constantly with the Thrum, adopting one another’s personalities and memories and talents for themselves, Gristle does his utmost to be self-reliant where possible. To adopt as little as possible from this biological network and to share only what is necessary to achieve success in the throes of battle. It has become aware in its many years of the traumatic stress that it can unintentionally imbue onto others whose minds are not befitting to the work of combat - this is perhaps one of the few mercies that Gristle still possesses.
Gristle is restrained from a lifetime of constant conflict by the more peaceable members of the colony, and he acquiesces to these obediently. So long as he can be sated from time to time, he is satisfied with peace. Gristle has become patient in his old age, willing to wait and wait and wait until the goal has been achieved - until the optimal time to strike has been acquired.
Gristle does not consider himself evil. He does not consider anything to be evil. He subscribes to a policy of absolute moral relativism tainted only by the concept of biological imperatives driving every living thing to do what it believes is best. The obliteration of enemies is nothing more than the impulse of the colony to grow, the loss of allies is nothing but the imperative of foreign creatures to resist their domination and consumption. There is no evil in anything - there is no good in anything.
There are only hungers and their fulfillments.
STRENGTHS
Exoskeleton - Coated in the exoskeleton of a Myka War-Form, Gristle is resistant to blasterfire and kinetic weapons, and covered all over in spiky protrusions. He has been bred for conflict and is always ready for it as a result.
The Hunger - Gristle burns with an endless hunger for domination, for consumption, for violence. He spills this terrifying desire into the Thrum and into the Force, blazing like a candle to draw the attention of fellow warriors - utilizing a kind of Battle Meditation he has honed all his life to lead his allies to victory.
Patient Strategy - Gristle has learned many tactics and strategies during his lifespan - and has access to others through the Thrum. He patiently analyzes the field, selecting ideas from his repertoire to direct and command his allies. He is not swiftly stirred by passion or loss of allies - he has all of the coldblooded patience of a scorpion, a spider, or a snake.
Living Tank - Though not literally as heavy as an armored vehicle, Gristle weighs around 1100 Kg, and knows how to use it. He rips and tears through conflict using natural weapons and manufactured ones alike, and can easily carve a swathe through smaller and weaker foes who are unprepared for the onslaught.
WEAKNESSES
Too Heavy - Almost all Myka are able to fly, but War-Forms are an exception. Their heavy exoskeletons are simply too much for their wings, and these quickly grow vestigial in the lack of use. Gristle will never leap to the skies like his kindred.
Fear-monger - Even without trying, Gristle is a frightening entity to be around. On his best behavior, he is still a leashed attack dog waiting to be set upon his foes. Though he is not unintelligent or unhinged, he craves conflict and is a poor choice for any kind of diplomatic meeting or peace talk for these reasons.
Open Mind - The nature of both the Thrum and his own Battle Meditation has made Gristle fairly open on a mental level. Mentalist attacks through the Force or through similar methods are more likely to be successful against Gristle as a result.
Weak Spots - The exoskeleton covering Gristle does not protect literally every portion of his body. There is a weak point at the eyes and mouth, as well as where the wings connect to the back and the spray-port of the gaster.
HISTORY
Gristle was born to the Ykaradan colony, destined to be one of a meager handful of guardian protectors. The Ykaradan colony lived in relative peace with many of its planetary neighbors, and relied primarily upon the transfer of assorted tributes and other submissive offerings in order to maintain peace.
The War-Forms performed little in the way of work during these formative years, merely hunting down the occasional dangerous wildlife in order to promote continued expansion, or dealing with incursions by the odd-renegade or outsider.
Eventually, though, the Ykaradan colony began to grow increasingly in strength and prowess, and additional War-Forms were eclosed, gradually pushing the colony toward less and less peaceful resolutions to the problem of their domineering neighbors. An active volcano caused an ecological incident which Gristle understood to be the best possible moment to lash out at the worst offenders to the colony’s liberty and growth.
A brief but brutal war followed, after which the Ykaradan colony established itself as a powerful planetary force. Gradually, they brought all others upon the world into submission and began to turn their gaze to the cryo-tombs of their ancient masters, and the inevitable awakening that they would undertake.
In the meantime, Gristle became aware of his own Force sensitivity and began to train using the memories of fallen sensitives from the distant past to hone his own talents and abilities, growing accustomed primarily to a kind of battlefield meditation which he used in several small skirmishes against fledgling Myka colonies.
Years of leading the warriors of the Myka has given Gristle experience with war - but only primarily with his own people. With the arrival of outsiders to the space of the Ykaradan colony, he waits to see how his skills will translate to the goals of his masters… and to the greater galaxy as a whole.
