"Grim should have made it.

It wasn't anyone's fault that he didn't. That was just Dxun's bloody nature. But, even as I watched it happen...I couldn't believe it. Grim was a dead-shot, one of the best! He was so confident that he'd get off this "karking rock." He believed it so hard...that I believed it too."

-Skorri Brokarra, remembering Grim Brokarra

At one point, long ago, Grim's Bow had been a beautiful weapon. According to the tall tales of his exploits, Grim had supposedly beaten a Wookie to death in order to claim it. Bare-handed and naked as the day he was born, too. However questionable the story may have been, the once-polished Bowcaster was at least a shred of tangible evidence.

Following the crash that stranded those who would become Brokarra on Dxun, the weapon would begin to fall into disrepair. Perpetual exposure to the elements combined with extreme wear and tear reduced the Bowcaster to a shadow of its former glory. The final nail in the weapon's metaphorical coffin was struck the day that Grim lost his life. A routine hunt for an evening meal turned into a monstrous ambush. Grim ordered Skorri, his hunting partner at the time, to run. He didn't follow, but rather went down buying her time to get away. In the process, Grim's prized possession was trampled and clawed beyond recognition.

Skorri and the other Brokarra soon returned to claim their fallen vod. It was then that Skorri took ownership over what remained of her old friend's weapon and began to put her "scrappy" affinity to good use. The end result was what could only be described as an "ugly" bow and arrow; for Skorri had to incorporate archaic principles to make the weapon function. For the most part, Grim's Bow retained the might typical of a Bowcaster. However, Skorri's repairs forced the weapon to rely upon her strength over that of a power cell. As opposed to utilizing the aforementioned, drawing back upon the bowstring creates enough kinetic energy to trigger the weapon's alternating polarizers. These, then, augment the arrow's momentum upon release whilst simultaneously bathing it in plasma.

Whilst the resulting "bolt/arrow" combination boasts a similar strength to that of a Bowcaster, the "ugly" nature of the weapon makes it very unstable. It requires excessive maintenance to remain functional; and can then cease to function despite Skorri's efforts. Furthermore, the repairs have robbed the weapon of one of its original strengths, in that its fire rate depends upon how quickly Skorri can notch and fire an arrow. Lastly, while it is not nearly as heavy as its original incarnation, Grim's Bow is still a hefty piece of equipment to constantly carry around.

However, despite it all, the weapon is a priceless memento of a friend now lost.
