OOC INFORMATION
  • Intent: To flesh out one of the Helix Syndicate’s higher-profile mercenaries.
  • Image Credit: Zekka Thyne by R-Valle
  • Role: A mercenary commonly employed by the Helix Syndicate.
  • Links: N/A
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: 30
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
  • Species: Sakiyan
  • Appearance: Grigori is quite sinister looking. He would change that if he could, but there’s little he can do about it. As it stands, his skin is the same pink coloration typical of most Sakiyans, though there are some noticeably darker splotches - a genetic trait not untypical for Sakiyans in the region of Saki he hails from. His eyes are red, his teeth sharp, and one ear pierced by a plain metal ring. In terms of dress, he generally prefers plain civilian clothes and a heavy coat regardless of the weather.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Grigori
  • Loyalties: Helix Syndicate
  • Wealth: Comfortable for a mercenary
  • Skills: A gladiator turned assassin, most of Grigori’s skills pertain to combat. He is quick on his feet, preternaturally so, and his sharp senses allow him to thwart just about any attempt to get the jump on him. Grigori is also skilled in infiltration, being able to move around silently with ease. By necessity, he is also hand with a digital lock pick.
  • Personality: Grigori is one of the more eccentric mercenaries on the Syndicate’s payroll, though not in an overly disruptive way. He’s a talker and, while normally everyone puts up with this, his repetitive style of speech and accent quickly grates on most people. Grigori tries to be friendly and sociable, but these efforts frequently fall short. This has not deterred him from continuing to try.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Combat Function: Melee. Grigori’s weapon of choice is a vibro-dagger, which necessitates he get as close to his target as possible. Occasionally he wields two at once with no decrease to his combat effectiveness. At short ranges, Grigori is quite adept with a set of throwing knives at well. He displays some basic skill with a blaster pistol, but it’s never his first choice.
  • Weapons of Choice: DC-15s Sidearm Blaster, Vibrodaggers, throwing knives
HISTORY

Grigori was raised in a remote region of Saki, one that keeps to older traditions. His family were hunters and they taught him everything they knew in the expectation that he would join them. It seemed, for a time, that Grigori’s life would be set out for him then and there. He would become a hunter, start his own mundane family, grow old and die, just like everyone had before him. But it was not to be so. Grigori found himself determined to overcome his low birth for the highest cause one might aspire to: love.

Her name was Anastasia Kalashnikov: the Titan of Olgorod, they called her. She was at least a head taller than Grigori and built to destroy. She was a gladiator, a champion in the glorious ring of combat, whose weapon of choice was typically a great axe the size of a small human child. She had many kills to her name and more victories than anyone (aside from her manager) cared to count. Grigori, meanwhile, was merely a hunter of little standing. He could not hope to be noticed by someone so powerful, so famous.

Unless, of course, he also demonstrated great courage and martial prowess in the arena. Grigori began his training in secret, preferring the ways of speed over strength. He favored his hunting knives for weapons, getting in close to his enemies for a quick kill or tiring them out before eliminating them. He took to it surprisingly well. Violence courses through the genes of every Sakiyan, but it only takes a meaningful cause to bring out the best in them. A cause like Anastasia Kalashnikov.

A time came where Grigori made his debut in the arena. It was a short battle, no more than a few minutes at most. He deftly ducked under an overhead swing with a cumbersome weapon, got in close, and stabbed them six times in the chest. Easy enough. They died. But Grigori was not greeted with cheers or yelps of astonishment over his prowess. They booed him as no gladiator had ever been booed. Quickness and cunning were viewed as dishonorable and Grigori was quickly labeled a craven dog by his peers. Instead of impressing Anastasia Kalashnikov, he made her disgusted with him. And he hadn’t even introduced himself yet! What rotten luck.

With few other options, Grigori made his way off Saki. There was nothing left for him there, you understand. Fortunately others were more appreciative of his talents and Grigori quickly began work as an assassin. People called Grigori when causing creative accidents was too expensive - they just needed someone stabbed to death and they didn’t care who knew it was a hit. In this manner, Grigori thrived for quite some time. He stabbed to death just about anyone and everyone. He made a lot of money, but that was not enough to distract him from his thoughts of Anastasia Kalashnikov. Where was she now, he wondered? Would he ever see her again? Would she ever… Forgive his transgressions?

Grigori was still pondering these questions when he accepted a long-term contract with the Helix Syndicate. He remains on their payroll, his services retained indefinitely.
