She slid a stylist behind her ear and swiveled the chair to face the CEO. A wireless databoard sat on her lap. "H'yup. All your systems are scrubbed clean and you've got some new security systems built in."

Larry, one of the head IT guys perched on the edge of a terminal table and leaned forward. "As far as I can see, the kid built in some top-notch systems, Mister Dashiell. We've never seen coding like this before on any kind of firewall. I doubt even Mo in security could get his grandfather to crack these."

Gray-blue eyes held back a certain degree of apprehension as she looked up at Mister Dashiell. If he held his end of the bargain she wouldn't have to go with Plan B. "Are we settled, then?"

Judah looked over with a critical eye. At least Larry seemed to know what was going on. If only Judah had about twenty Larrys working down in his department. Perhaps someday. Good technological folks were difficult to find. The keep. So much competition in the market. Without saying a word, Judah reached into his inner breast pocket of the suit jacket and pulled out a business card. A pen came out and he scribbled down a bit of nonsense.

Handing the card over, he finally spoke.

"See the front desk when you leave the building. I've got you down for a full day of work at the contractor rate. We're settled." There was a small pause. "A piece of advice? Be a bit more careful, take a few more legitimate jobs."

The tension left her shoulders as she pocketed the card. "I'm sure I have no idea what you're talking about, sir." Gray-blue eyes studied him closely for a moment as if to say she understood and knew he wasn't stupid just like he knew she wasn't stupid. "But, if you ever have problems with that firewall, just put out a comm-code for Spark Finn."

Standing, she scooped up her bag and jammed her fingers in her coat pocket as she headed for the building's front door.

The pay-ticket was left unclaimed.
