Manufacturer: Mandal Hypernautics
Model: Goten-class Dry-Dock Station (Birth Dry-Dock Station in Galactic Basic)
Affiliation: Mandal Hypernautics, Mandalorian
Modularity: Yes, Can connect together to handle larger operations
Production: Mass Production
Material: Alusteel, Durasteel,

Description:

The Goten-class Dry-Dock Station utilizes an open design to allow maximum birthing option for civilian and military craft alike. The station projects a wide energy shield that extends in an arch between the arms of the station. Each station produces a shield that is roughly 4.2km by 4.2km by 600m. From within the relative safety of this dome of protection, numerous human and droid construction specialists work diligently to construct or repair a starship.

The station rotates around a central spine as it orbits a planet. The station is not equipped with a hyperdrive and has minimal maneuvering thrusters only. The station must be towed to a new planet or assembled in orbit over a planet. Likewise, and major adjustment in the orbital position of the station requires the use of several tugs to drag the station into position.

The Goten-class Station is capable of extending a number of pylons beneath each arm that can connect to the dorsal section of another Goten-class Station. In this way, multiple Dry-Docks can be combined together to handle larger and more complex construction jobs. When connected in such a way, an additional 220 meters of stabilizing towers must be added to the central spine of the stations. Each arm of a Goten Station can accommodate two ships of up to Star Destroyer sized, four ships of less than 800 meters, or eight ships of less than four hundred meters. When connected to another station, the shield emitters of each station are linked to create a singular area of shield coverage over the entire station assemblage. This allows for a safer working environment and a 20% increase in overall shield strength per additional station.

Goten-class Stations are most often encountered in stacks of three or five at dedicated shipyards, while individual stations are more common orbiting other industrial worlds. Stacking three stations together allows for up to six Kandosii Dreadnoughts or similarly sized warships to dock for repairs or to be constructed at each arm. While three individual stations could handle the same volume of starships without connecting to one another, stacking the stations allows such projects to be completed far quicker than would be possible at a single station, and with superior coverage and protection from overlapping shields.

When connected to additional stations, a minimum of five such stations must be connected together to accommodate Command Ships or larger. In such a case, each arm can accommodate 2 to 4 such ships, depending on the width and height of the ships being repaired or constructed. A minimum of eight to ten stations must be connected together to handle the maintenance requirements of the Mythosaur or similarly sized starships, accommodating 2 such ships per arm. However, such station assemblages are uncommon as the Mythosaur is capable of being repaired and maintained at any 'common' assemblage of five stations, though it does take up a quarter of the available births.

Each section of the station is protected from stray asteroids, pirates, terrorists, and other threats by 7 Mass-Drivers and 12 Point Defense Ion Cannons along length of each arm, 8 Point Defense Ion Cannons along each section of the central Hub, and each arm of the station is capped by a single Vulcan Mass-Driver Flak Cannon.

An important note for those impetuous commanders that look at the defensive weaponry of the station and see military applications is that the station is all but immobile in terms of starship combat. And while a stack of 5 such stations would have twice as powerful shields as a single such station and “five times the firepower”, the station is completely lacking in armor plating and unprepared to withstand a dedicated barrage of Naval weaponry. Not to mention the short range of the station's defensive weapons.

Furthermore, only a fifth to a fourth of the stations standard weaponry can ever be brought to bare on a single firing angle, with a maximum of half of the station's Vulcan Cannons being able to fire upon a target. These percentages do not change no matter how many stations are stacked together. And should a target approach the station from the top or bottom, there is still only about 1/4th of a single station's standard weaponry that can be brought to bare on the target and only a single station's Vulcan Cannon's can be brought to bare. Which makes the top and bottom of a station the most heavily defended areas on a single station and the most vulnerable section on an assemblage of stations.

As this is 4,000 meters in length, it would be grouped in with command ships as far as production and armaments go. So production need to go to minor, and your armaments can come up.

Uuuuh... Can I... lower the armament from its maximum to increase the production? I'm actually fine with the armament the way it is. Since it's civilian and all. If not, minor is fine really.
