Good Fortune in the Wars to Come

Aryn Teth

The Dark-Side Tree, Dagobah, Sluis Sector, The Outer Rim Territories
Interacting With: [member='Varik Ice']
Recovering from his move forcing Varik down into the ground, Aryn couldn't even fight down the confident smirk that came across his face as he turned his gaze away from Ice then. Holding his hand out, he felt through the force for his lightsaber, feeling it elsewhere as the weapon began to fly through the air towards him. Before he could take hold of the weapon however, he felt Varik's body slam into his own, the arms around his leg tripping him up as he fell to the hard metal deck of the freighter, his saber flying clean overhead to splash harmlessly into the swamp on the other side of the craft. Before he could get up a proper defense, Aryn felt as a fist slammed into his face to the right, then the left, then right again, and again, and again.

The bloody taste of iron filled Aryn's mouth as his lips and gums were stained red from the barrage, the Jedi gasping as he felt the Inquisitor's second hand wrap firmly around his throat. He could feel the force surging through Varik now, he had built up his defences, and knew that he would not be able to throw him off as easily as he'd pushed him down. Gasping around the tight grip, Aryn reached up to wrap his hands around Ice's fingers, trying to pull them clean of his throat.

As he struggled against the hand wrapped against his throat, Aryn did his best to hold off the necessity of breathing, focusing on the force within him to try and sustain himself as he held his free hand outwards in the direction that his lightsaber had flown. Focusing through the pain, he found the weapon once more, feeling as it flew towards his hand and flicking the activation switch as it did so, hearing the weapon activate as it drew nearer and towards his hand, the Jedi hoping he'd be able to cut clean through the Inquisitor before he would have a chance to react or get away.

Although it seemed to be going well from here, Varik was smart enough not to push his advantage too much, especially once he heard the noise of the saber nearby. Ice instinctively rolled off of Aryn once he heard, his eyes locking onto where he saw the small hilt flying towards Aryn's hand. He reached out, using the force to try and suddenly push the hilt, hoping to send it flying off far into the swamp, too far from Teth's reach to be a real issue.

Varik now stood towards the edge of the freighter, keeping a note on his environment. There was swampland all around them, low marshy water. The trees were tall and gnarled, with branches that stuck outward to be used as platforms. Without a lightsaber, it was a different form of fighting. A form that worked very well with his instincts, and one he was used to dealing with. He'd killed all sorts of creatures, from apex predators of his home to fellow humans with his hands, so this may be a simpler way of handling things.

Ice stayed where he was, expecting Aryn to get up; perhaps he would push the offense, or pull back. More likely is he had a trick in mind, something to do with the force. It had been why Varik kept the environment in mind - he didn't need it sneaking up on him.

Letting out a sharp breath as Ice rolled off him, Aryn cared less as his lightsaber was sent flying away from him again, satisfied enough in getting the man off him as he watched Varik pull back away from him. Varik was clearly a skilled combatant with his fists, more-so than Aryn was certainly, and so the Jedi knew well enough he couldn't have relied upon his physical prowess alone without his saber to take down his opponent. He knew instead he had to surprise Varik, and he needed to resort for something else.

Flipping up, Aryn didn't push himself to land back up onto the freighter, instead flipping backward and off the ship entirely. Landing on a log below sticking out of the marsh, Aryn raised his hands and focused not on Varik, but on the freighter beneath him. Using the power of the force flowing through Dagobah around him, he watched as the freighter began to shake for a moment before it began to lift. Only a moment or two passed in that moment before Aryn thrust his hands forward again, sending the starship flying off and careening through trees to slam into the ground a fair distance away, spinning and flipping as it crashed once more.

Aryn made no move to follow the freighter yet however, his gaze flicking around him as he waited to see what had been Varik's fate, whether or not the Dark Jedi had managed to evade the attack, or if he had been thrown along with his improvised fly-swatter.
