Good Afternoon, Sundari

"What I knew or didn't know, what I did or couldn't do, is none of your business. You thought you were baiting me? Boy, two weeks ago you didn't even know my name." He'd have spat on the flagstone if the helmet allowed it. "I don't care about your pain; talk to me when your wife burns half your homeworld. I care about exactly two things: it turns out I have a son, and it turns out some worthless specimens want to kill him. If you've got the balls to kill a kid, you've got the balls to take another shot at me - so do what you want. I've got what I came for."

He turned and walked away.

Malika closed the gap to her brother, ignoring the blaster and the grenade in his hand, she smacked the side of his helmet with an open hand. "Do you even hear yourself?!" She berated. "Put that away," she shoved the blaster aside.

"Do you really think anyone could have stopped her? The woman was insane. Have some pity for Manda's sake. We lost nephew and a sister, he lost a wife and a son. Mia took something from all of us, if you want to run around waving guns at people that were close to her we might as well line her whole clan up and shoot them dead. And what good will that do? It's over, stop trying to make the war go on. We've other battles to fight."

She cast a glance over her shoulder at the man's retreating back. "Where do you think you're going? I'm not done with you yet."

He wanted to push [member="Malika Mantis"] aside and ignore her, snap up his weapon and unload into @Connory. Who was he to judge? He hadn't lost his son, not yet. In the war Silas had gained a son, he was as about as experienced with fatherhood as the man he wanted to shoot. Silas wanted something darker than justice for his family, he wanted revenge, when his sister alluded to lining up Monroe's clan and executing them he was tempted to commend her on such a splendid idea.

But he did none of that.

As hateful eyes watched Rel walk away, his body ceased to cooperate with his demands. Why hadn't he been there to stop it? To save his sister and nephew, to protect his brother and niece? Even with Aditya's AI urging him to forgive himself, the guilt still clung to him, no matter how hard he fought. Did he think killing the child and its father would stop that? It wouldn't, and Silas knew that, no matter how much his burning rage told him differently.

He holstered the blaster without a noise. "I-"

"I have to kill him." Silas muttered, about Connory, not his son. "It's him or me, that's how this bounty works. He's got hits out on your family and a member of the cuir'rekr, he's an enemy." The man made to move past his sister-in-law. "Just him." He added.

Connory kept walking. Okyaab, the killer had said. Remote agrarian world. If memory served, the Mandalorians had invaded it centuries back and been promptly repelled by the locals. Not a story you'd hear from a Mando - but the Echani, in Connory's experience, treasured it. Okyaab would be a quixotic choice for a Mando fortress or homestead, but the Ordos were nothing if not quixotic.

Since pondering could get you killed, he kept an eye on the tiny rearview display in his HUD. With the little hard-light projector droid back in his bag, the shield trick wouldn't work a second time.

Maybe they'd take a shot, maybe not. Either way...Okyaab.
