Gokeiger Pt.3 (Alva Calvarona)

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist

The majority of it had been finished and Matsu was looking over the scrap and shards of crystal they had been getting from the island. The mining operations here were a welcome change for the level of things they could work on and make. She wanted to get the people inside who could work hard and they were fixing the mining equipment. Here on the docks though they were going over the employment applications who were wanting to have a new job here on the island.

Alva was glad that things were almost over at this point. With all the running around she had been doing for the sake of others, she wanted desperately for the opportunity to move onto her own projects and efforts. Maybe after all this was said and done she would have that chance. After all, right now they were just handling employee applications for the operations here for the dock, most everything else was finished much to Alva's joy and satisfaction. "Is there a promising list for you there or will you end up having to outsource and bring people in who are willing to move out here for you. That might end up being more expensive but if there isn't much in the local capacity there's not much you can do."

Matsu was looking at some of them and nodding as she thought about it. "Hiring from off the island would mean they'd have to move but have a better pool of applicants... However if we hire local we make jobs for the ones living here and they'll spend money to work on boosting the economy." She was looking for a nice way to get some people into the positions and have them there to work, small light security measures were up to protect them but nothing major and nothing that would draw heavy attention as they were working. The small stake she had used to get part of the mines was for them to get to repair equipment and some excess pieces.

"Local Economy or not, it doesn't matter if you don't get anyone interested in applying. Or if they pose a risk to the venture. You don't want to hire someone more likely to rob you just because it opens up more jobs for the planet's population. Especially for the docks where you could lose a ship to a group who applied just for the chance to grab their way off world. Although the theft of any mined stygium might be more costly in terms of profits to cover the expense of the operation." Call Alva cynical, but she grew up on a world where everyone had a place. In the galaxy she had seen so far where so many stole more than they needed, especially the Sith who had driven her from her home, one couldn't trust those who didn't check out right. Of course Ikki's cousin was liable to do adequate background checks, but the thought of doing too much to ensure local prosperity at the cost of a successful work venture was too dangerous a notion to let slide even if Matsu hadn't meant it that way.

"That is a danger yes but there will always be ones who have plans to do that. We'll just have to weed them out and give them a chance. Workng to repair the mining equipment in exchange for stygium crystals is well a good deal built on respect and can add up eventually. Plus it lets the other business here save credits." There was a grin while she was moving towards one of the applications that appeared on a view screen. The holoemitters in the room were showing displays and equipment they were selling but also some of the maps of the area. "I know we're going to need good background checks."

Alva would remain the skeptic, but then it wasn't her operation on the line so she wouldn't raise too much fuss over what the Silver Jedi decided to do with their docks and mining work. Whether the decisions made hurt the operation or not in the end didn't matter to her. So the crinan woman did her best to stay silent as she let her eyes wander over the holo displays as things came up and quickly dispersed soon after. "I just hope things don't go in such a way as to hurt the work you're trying to do here. I do realize it isn't my place to say, but if you do want some help from the Empire in setting some sections of the work up, then I do ask you make sure to protect our interests. I apologize for the need to make the statement, but it is just a precaution I'm sure you realize."

Matsu looked at Alva and raised an eyebrow at that statement. It made it sound like there was a chance she work with them more and now she was sitting down looking across from her. "I think that can be arraigned. Some of our warehouses and operations near sith space are protected by mercenaries we vetted and trust. The Empire if it wishes to I could accept advice for defenses of operations in their territory. We are doing what works to protect our investors as well. I am learning as I go how best to improve several of the things we have."

That was fair, and Alva hoped she wasn't seeming too. . . . .imposing with her concerns. It wasn't her objective to tell the other woman how to do her business, but part of her was just a tad upset with all the effort and time she putting into others work lately and she hardly wanted to see that work hurt down the line after contributing her presence. Especially over minute concerns she was possibly a tad too paranoid over. If anything though, all blame for such paranoia was because of the Sith, being the first major force the Empire had faced in its current iteration when they were attacked on Crina. "Should the Empire consolidate its territory we could possibly provide said security and defense ourselves, as we would look to interests and allies within our space to our utmost. We should be settling down soon. . . .we've already gathered much of our forces on this side of the galaxy, it will only be a short time longer. Hopefully we can put your mining efforts here to use by then."

Matsu looked at her and there was a small grin on her face with that at the thoughts of it. She liked the sound coming from the empire coming to their own which would be a good thing. It would bring more economy to the galaxy while she moved about. "That will be something to see, the old Imperial palace was something that looked beautiful in images and Atrisia where my family is tried to be an empire. Sadly they bit off more then they could chew and fell but their palace was quite a sight to behold."

In truth Alva had never seen much of the Imperial Palaces in history. The Emperor and Empress of the current Empire had operated on Valc VII because of its ties to the Empire as a fortress world, but it did not have a stunning palace, but rather an array of military complexes and strongholds. The crinan woman remembered the site of the Royal Palace on her homeworld, and wondered how it would compare to that of Atrisia or Bastion. "To be honest my homeworld offered itself to the Empire as a stronghold and had a palace of its own for the monarchy that ruled it. . . . .sadly the Sith turned all their attention there. I honestly doubt they would have won if their force had consisted of the usual that invaded planets of the Republic. . . . I do not know where the Empire will settle specifically, but I know command has some ideas in mind. Hopefully the Empire will have its own rise to glory, and strike back against the Sith. Maybe if we're successful people will flock to us instead of the Republic, who knows for certain. As it stands I was very happy to help you again today. If you have a message for your cousin I can give it to her on my return."
