DESCRIPTION

A cruel but effective weapon, the GMG grenade is Helix's answer to the need for in-house grenade production.

The weapon appears as a small, metallic blue orb that can fit comfortably into the palm of a typical humanoid hand. When triggered, an 8-second fuse is initiated, and the user would do well to throw or launch it as soon as possible.

When it detects contact with a solid object or surface, the grenade briefly increases its surface temperature to several thousand degrees Celsius, a temperature sufficient to melt most objects and partially fuse the grenade to a given surface.

When the timer is up, the grenade becomes hyperdense, collapsing into a small local singularity. Within a small radius of around 2.4 meters, the results can be grim.

Armor offers no protection against the ravages of gravity, and infantry too near the event horizon can be sucked into the singularity, inflicting serious crush injuries and blunt-force trauma. While the effect only lasts for a few instants, that is nonetheless ample time to break bone and remove limbs, if not kill. A direct-impacted foe that fails to remove the grenade can be crushed to nothing in moments.

Vehicles are not immune either, as the singularity can often rip off armor plates or suck tank crews through tiny rents in a hull. A direct hit can even compact lighter vehicles into small chunks of metal.

Though the effect is incredibly destructive, caring nothing for most armor or shielding, it occurs within an extremely localized area. Unlike conventional explosives, there is no secondary wounding radius, and enemies even a few centimeters outside the effect will be entirely unaffected.

Given the incredible lethality of this weapon, it possesses a lengthy fuse as a safety measure, giving friendlies plenty of time to get away in case of accidental activation. Of course, this also cuts both ways. Hostiles with sharper reflexes have plenty of time to escape the radius, pry the grenade off if it sticks to them, or even hurl it back at the original user.

Hey, so I'm going to have to say no to this in its current form. A gravitational weapon like this has no defences, as you pointed out in your submission, and is therefore not really something conducive to RP.

I'm not going to straight deny the submission though, and I'm going to give you a chance to rework it. An idea that occurred to me is that you could replace the singularity with repulsor based tech. It wouldn't crush people but would throw them around, shift them away from cover or disrupt their formation. It's blockable if someone has mag boots/the force etc but has an effect similar to what you're after without hte whole crushing through armour element.
