OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Age: 32
  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
  • Species: Human
  • Appearance: Gideon is not a man of impressive size or strength, but that makes him only slightly less terrifying. His hair was already gone in his early twenties, revealing the deep scars below that are carved through his whole face and reach down right to his toes. The color of his skin had once been rather fair, but after returning form his involuntary stay in the nether it turned into a unnaturally darker, almost burned tone. His back is riddled with a seemingly random collection of tattoos, most of them just chaotic scribbles. Commonly he shrouds himself in simple clothing, most of it ragged and ripped, while also carrying a few favorite pieces of his relic collection, consisting out of rings, amulets and other objects of arcane origin that give him a slightly otherworldly appearance despite lacking any connection to the force.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Gideon Newport, Captain Newport, "Witch Doctor"
  • Loyalties: Mostly himself, and whoever pays best in this case Darth Abyss
  • Wealth: Despite being rather good at his job, Gideon never really made a fortune that could match that of other pirates. After a good raid he might has enough to spend a few weeks of luxury, but because of his lifestyle that money mostly ends up anywhere but in his pocket. With no savings to speak of, he jumps between being slightly above the galactice average to broke on a weekly basis.
  • Notable Possessions:

Since his first contact with a dark side relic he became fascinated with collecting ancient trinkets, bordering on obsession. While his knowledge pales compared to those of actual jedi, sith and researchers, he still knows more then the common people, at least when it comes to the worth of the objects which he collects.

    Relic Collection:
    -Translation Talisman
    -Talisman of Concentration
    -Jedi Crusader Pendant
-Various lesser rings, amulets and trinkets

    Weaponry:
    -Sevari Flashpistol
    -One ancient blue Lightsaber
    -War Blade
  • Skills:
    -Piloting
    -Navigation
    -Marksmanship (Handgun)

    -Archeology/Lore
    -Hand to Hand
    -Bartering
    -Leadership
  • Personality: Gideon is most easily described as a extremely extroverted, expressive person, with a bit of strong, undeniable charisma. At least that would be how he would describe himself. While there is quite a lot of truth in that statement, there are a few less positive qualities to him that are as prominent. Since he returned from the realm of the dead he became uncomfortably unhinged, bordering on absolutely mad. He is prone to sudden mood swings, going from drinking and laughing to bursts of unfounded violence and range in a matter of seconds. Also he is not to be trusted, and in return never trusts anyone else (what doesn't stops him from pretending otherwise) as he knows quite well how little it words of loyalty can actually mean. During his time as a pirate he developed a mild obsession with collecting relics and artifacts with arcane abilities, despite the fact that he isn't able to use most of them. Gideon also lacks any kind of moral compass, acting only based on one value: His own current desires.
COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Weapon of Choice: Ships, Wits and a Gun
  • Combat Function:

Gideon first and foremost acts as the Captain of the Eldritch, leading the ship through space, commanding the crew and ordering the fashion of its approch instead of directly taking part in a fight. Yet he is still a capable warrior when it comes to brawling and one on one fights outside of large scale military battles, knows how to board a ship and is quite skilled with a handgun on short and medium distances.

    Strenghts:

-Pirate Swagger: Arrogance is a crass understatement when describing Gideon, yet his extreme confidence is not entirely unfounded. Besides that his natural confidence and charisma are known to sway others to his side and motivate those working under him, despite his more then questionable loyalties and morals.

-Sailor of the Void: More then 15 years of being a pirate have formed Gideon into an expert when it comes to space travel. He is skilled as pilot, commander, navigator, boarding crew member, drunk, merchant, thief and gunslinger, and has no problem using these abilities to get whatever he desires.

-Drunk Man's Luck: Gideon is the the kind of guy who has a drink to much, gets into trouble and then miraculously stumbles out of it unharmed besides a few scars more and a few credits and memories less.

    Weaknesses:

-Act First, Think Later: If there is a man with a plan, it surely isn't Gideon. He is a classic example of someone with a mouth faster than his head, and the same can be said about pretty much any other part of his body.

-Scars: Years of being a pirate as well as a abusive youth have left Gideon's body scarred and broken. Pretty much every muscles and every bone in his body is a source of slight, but constant pain, clouding his mind under high pressure.

-Soulsearching: After spending days locked in the netherworld due to an incident inside a ruined sith temple, a part of himself was lost in the nether and never found its way back to him. Since then he is somewhat undead, plagued by strange dreams, and a unnatural willingness to take ridiculous risks for no real reason.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Born on Tatooine Gideon's live was marked by struggle and hardship from an early age on. His mothered died at birth, leaving the boy behind with only his abusive, spice addicted father who found more enjoyment in drugs and neglected then in his son. Poverty mixed with the overall living conditions of the desert forced Gideon to get creative from the day he learned to walk and act. With seven he stole for the first time, a handful of credits to get away from the fists of his father for a few hours. With ten he mugged someone for the first time, once again to avoid the violent, aimless rage of the man that should have raised him.

With fourteen he committed his first murder, to get away from his father once and for all. Taking what little the man that had granted him nothing more than a part of his genetics he set out to leave the sand and heat behind.

After drinking and drifting through the dirtiest parts of the galaxy for four years he finally found something that felt like home. During a short, lethal bar brawl Gideon unintentionally saved the life of John Songbird, Captain of the Pirate vessel "The Deserteur" and earned the right to join his crew. Happily Gideon accepted the offer, quickly becoming a vital part of the crew.

During his second raid with his new crew he came into contact with a sith ring of little power, yet he instantly grew fascinated with the small artifact, developing a habit for seeking and collecting pieces of similar nature despite the fact that he has little to no use for them.

During the next five years of raiding he rose through the ranks of the pirates, earing himself the position of first mate and the moniker "Witch Doctor" due to his collection for artifacts and his liking of strange brews of alcoholic beverages.

In year six of his career as a pirate the unexpected happened during the raid of a seemingly abandoned temple at the edges of the unknown regions. Caught in an ambush Gideon and Captain Songbird fought to the end, but while the Captain left to join with the dead, Gideon himself stumbled into an ancient construct leading him into the deaths of the Nether.

The only reason why he was ever able to return was an old deal he made shortly after being named first mate with a being called "The Mindeater" by many. The hollow sith lord found the Pirate to be a possible asset, but at first Gideon refused to join forces with Darth Abyss. Instead the two made a deal: Upon Gideon's death the sith lord would use his power to bring him back into the realm in the living, for the price of his service in return.

He knows nothing of what happened during those days of being lost among the dead, but the man that returned was a changed one, more violent, more mad and more brilliant than ever before. Slaughtering his way through the temple he managed to return to the Deserteur, claiming the right to be its new captain.

Another five years passed on in which Gideon lead his crew to wealth and luxury through violence and ruthlessness, years he nostalgically describes as his golden years. Yet in the end his deal came back to haunt him. When he went to sleep he was still in his cabine on the Desertuer, but when he awoke he found himself on the bridge of Abyss' vessel. He was once more given a choice: Serve, or the Sith Lord would take back what he had given.

Gideon picked life so that his legend would continue, as Dead Men tell no Tales.
