It had been weeks since he had been brought to the Jakku Enclave. It had been just a couple of days more since he had become captive of the woman Romi Jade Romi Jade . Some time after that, he had lost count of the days, she had disappeared from the Enclave. He had been left with Jedi. He had been left with strangers. He had played the part of a want-to-be Jedi for some time. Some had threatened to break down his charade, but none had truly seen his intentions. He would escape. He would find his mother. He would return to his life and destiny. To normality.

His plans brought him to the hangar area of the Enclave. The Jedi seemed so trusting. He could just walk in there, so long as he appeared confident and assured. This was no trouble. Arrogance was an easy substitute for confidence, and that he had in abundance.

He wasn't attempting escape today. Just familiarising himself with the ships, their pilots and the routines of maintenance, patrols and mission departures. It was always busy, but today the hangar was quiet, and mostly empty.

Abishai found himself loitering around a speeder, the enclosed kind. He didn't know the make or model, but it seemed to be a industrial speeder that had been retrofitted with weaponry. A speeder wasn't ideal for escaping a planet, but it would get you away from a compound. Perhaps he could find a settlement and stowaway on some departing freighter.

With as much casualness as he could muster, which was not much, he unclipped the ladder and unfolded it towards the floor. It creaked. Abishai winced and glanced to the left and right to see if he had been noticed. Satisfied that he was not unduly attracting attention, he began to climb the ladder. He was just going to have a look.
