Average Lifespan: 50 years
Races: None
Diet: Omnivorous, there is little that they would not digest
Communication: Verbal, grunts and simplistic language, writing in pictographs

Culture: Ghablaresh culture is based primarily on raiding, warfare, and survival of the strongest through purely brutal trials. Due to their high reproduction rate, each generation of Ghablaresh can contain from hundred to thousand specimen, these numbers are shortened by fights between Ghablaresh and cannibalistic acts. This ensures that only the strongest will survive in a Ghablaresh tribe and overpopulation is avoided.
Ghablaresh often hunt in packs with 10 hunters minimal, using mostly tools from animal bones, scrap, and stones, some ancient tribes have been known to even adapt to use of blaster technology, although that is rare.

Technology level: Depending on the age of a tribe, most Ghablaresh tribes use tools and weapons made from stone, ivory, and scavenged metal. Some ancient tribes on Khazund became old enough to adapt to the high amounts of metals in their environment and begin mining it, launching them into Classical and Early Medieval level of weaponry. Even more rare are Ghablaresh tribes who learned how to handle blasters, those tribes are only seen on surviving or abandoned Khazund refugees ships.
The Ghablaresh infested many of them and survived through the Gulag plague by lingering on the ships' sewage and garbage units. On many occasions the Ghablaresh infestation killed off the Khazund crews and refugees on the ships, taking in their weaponry until the ship either crashed or was boarded by other beings so that their infestation can spread. Ghablaresh never figured out how to pilot ships.

General behavior: Extremely hostile towards other creatures, especially at young age when they can be described as animalistic and rabid, often attacking each other. Ghablaresh calm down slightly in their later years, cooperating more with each other and learning to hold off their attacks until they had great advantage in numbers against their foes or were able to stage an ambush.
Often cannibalistic, Ghablaresh have been known to eat their dead rather than bury or burn them.

History: Ghablaresh are one of the native species of planet Khazund.
Evolving with Khazund-Daran, the two species have always found themselves waging war against one another, with the Ghablaresh conducting most of the race and Khazund defending their tunnels and cities.
By the time the Khazund established contact with the Iron Knights, the Ghablaresh tribes were in late medieval periods of their technology, possessing metal weaponry and armor.

The introduction of advanced technology and blasters to Khazund gave them an edge against GHablaresh, leading to extermination of many old Ghablaresh tribes, reverting many of them back to the stone-age weaponry.
When the ecosystem on Khazund began to collapse, the Ghablaresh were able to get off of the planet's surface through infesting many sewage and garbage units of Khazund ships, setting up small lairs in the bowels of their ships.

The cataclysm took toll on Ghablaresh population on their native planet, now their tribes survive only hidden in deep tunnel and cave systems of their planet, developing their technology enough to enter Classical and Early Medieval period of weaponry and armor once more.

Notable Player-Characters: None
Intent: To create a nemesis race for the Khazund which could be used as npc antagonists should anyone ever land on the planet of Mechanus, add in another interesting playable race, and provide additional background and atmosphere for Mechanus and Khazund.
