THE FOREST
For fifty years it had lain there, a hive for those creatures so low as to drag their chests across the dirt.
For fifty years it had decayed, collapsing as each day wore away at its body, so carefully designed.
Today was the same. The forest was freezing cold, violent streaks of rain tearing through leaf-stripped branches, melting through cold soil with the swiftness of acid melting flesh, such was its unprecedented weakness. Greyness filled the skies, overwhelming darkness that left the monster shrouded in black shadow; embedded in the mud, its inhuman head ran wet with fresh rain. One hand protruded from the ground, vicious claws rising out from each fingertip. From a short distance it looked like little more than a group of dead flowers.
Truly it was a travesty- such beauty corroded by the harsh weathers of time.
Here lay murder personified, and yet it was entirely forgotten.
