General Rules Updated - Major Changes Highlighted

Some language was also changed to better improve readability.

We also had two rules targeting illegal behavior/drugs. One rule targeting illegal behavior is enough, though. Not sure why we had a rule about circulating drugs. That's not really a problem we suffer here, lol, so it was never really necessary. But the illegality rule covers it.

#7 is a major change of the readibility of the previous "alt-padding" rule. Seemed like an elongated way to explain how to not try to pretend to be multiple people, so I've altered it to better represent the spirit behind the ruling.

The biggest and most major change will be the no advertising rule. I know some people have promoted their products, their amazon items, published books, etc. I find such projects to be really cool, tbh. But.. This is now no longer allowed. A Star Wars role-play website isn't the place for it, and we'll be deleting threads concerning these ventures in the future. If you're trying to make money, there are plenty of other venues that are much better suited to help you do so. Also, nothings stopping you from advertising to your friends on Skype, Discord, etc. Do it there, not here. And do it privately, not on our official Discord server or any of the major Faction chats. You're likely just going to annoy people.

Most of you know my views on advertising other websites, this rule backs this view officially now. Not really news to most of us.

Question on this one.

I sometimes do solo threads, that are intended to be either development threads or fleshing out character backstory. I have three characters (sub-accounts) that are related to another. [member="3X744"] is in the care/custody of [member="Sor-Jan Xantha"], who is the employer of [member="Jon Jon Nemo"]

So I may do a solo (single writer) thread where I write out a Corellia Digital scene from the perspective of both Sor-Jan and Nemo. For example, this thread, which lays the ground work for a number of character and company projects for me.

My question is: Would this be considered a violation of General Rule #7 as re-written, since I'm supporting my posts with sub-accounts?

I understand that the intent here is more toward OOC topics/threads, but I want to make certain my IC activity isn't in violation of the letter of the rule.

Don't do it in pvp threads and don't do it in OOC threads. Don't do it in an attempt to decieve other members or Staff.

So long as you don't fall in the above 3 categories, you should be fine.

If not, the most you'll get your first offense is a warning. Don't sweat warnings.

Question with this. One of my character accounts ([member="Strask Ak'lya"]) got turned into a writer account after I worked in the Factory. Does that trigger this rule? If so, how do I get that fixed?

[member="Tefka"] on but off topic, I do sometimes use my music that I've created in posts because well it works. At the same time it is advertising it (for non personal gain. Its free to listen to etc.) Am I aloud to continue using them in my posts?

[member="Tefka"] my soul if you want it (jk)

But no I'm not selling it unless someone outside of chaos would like to use it in a project. But that's outside here and would be sorted via email. (Although it's unlikely it would happen)

Are my audio threads okay to share? They are threads that writers have written here, recorded in radio theatre/audio book format, with permission by all of the writers. Not making any money from them of course. It's just for fun.

As someone reading through the list, it seems like #14 isn't a rule so much as a statement, and while implied, it doesn't state it's prohibited.

#15-16 seem like they could just be a clause at the end.

Just two cents from a guy that's hardly here. Stay groovy Chaos.
