Genealogy?

I currently thought about some possible plot lines for Abyss, and stumbled over another classic lovecraftian trope to take up: The sins of once ancestors, and their unavoidable effects on the fate of their kin.

From the start I avoided doing much (aka anything) with his heritage just in case I ever decide to build a plot around, but until today I never really knew what to exactly. Now I think it would be a nice addition to his character to establish an ancestor that by the use of magic and alchemy basically doomed Abyss to become what he is now, and start a quest to find the remaining information about that ancestor. To spice it up a bit I'm now looking for anyone who either is interested in adding a distant, but shared heritage to that ancestor, or simply an ancestor that is connected to Abyss' in any other way.

The plot would revolve around digging up the past, travelling from world to world in hope of finding clues and probably ends is some kind of psychological/eldritch horror final.

Anyone interested in that?
