Intent: To create an advanced wing-suit jet-pack system for high altitude, high velocity transportation.
Development Thread: If required.
Manufacturer: G.E.A.R
Model: GE-HVJ (High Velocity Jetpack)
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: No
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Elastex | Fiberplast | Insulfoam | Sunshield Fabric
Description: The GE-HVJ is designed to answer two very distinct needs. The first being a more advanced jetpack than that of the Z-6, allowing for much longer sustained flight time, as well as higher altitude and higher velocity. The second need is to provide the wearer with a method of controlled descent when performing high altitude jumps - whether that be recreational, or militaristic. Making a covert jump from a dropship into enemy lines can be that much more controlled when the jumper can modify their flight path, speed, and time of deployment of their parachute. Utilizing 4 miniature jet powered turbine engines, the HVJ is, in comparison to the Z-6, much quieter in its' operation, and much safer in operation, as the turbine engines are far less susceptible than the Z-6 to explosion if damaged.
Wingspan: 2.4m
Weight (with fuel): 55kg
Weight (dry): 30kg
Strengths:
- Top speed of 300km/hr.
- Total flight time of 15 minutes.
- Maximum altitude of 5,550 meters.
- Can take off from standing position, or air dropped.
- Damage to wings or propulsion system can cause loss of primary control.
- Can only land using provided parachute. Due to required speed to maintain flight a ground landing is unsafe.
- No room for backup parachute. Make sure it is packed correctly.
- Cannot be used in place of an atmospheric drop pod. Suit is not thermal resistant.
