PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
A cocky yet kind-hearted man just trying to make his way through the galaxy, while trying to maintain his thirst for good fights. But, aside from his thirst for battle and a bit of greed, he's a good man, having no issues with helping those in need, and fighting for those who cannot fight for themselves; a decent person. And, it never helps to have a bit of sarcasm in the mix.
INVENTORY
| Dual DG-29 Heavy Blaster Pistols
• His pride and joy. Gavin’s dual DG-29s (who had their scopes removed due to Gavin wanting “a challenge”) are his main weapons of choice in the middle of conflict. Firing yellow blaster bolts, these pistols are usually more than enough to take down any enemy that tries something. They have two alternative modes of fire, the first allowing even stronger and more explosive bolts to be fired at the expense of quickly using up the gas canister, as well as overheating the weapon. The second being your basic, run-of-the-mill stun rounds.
| Custom-made Gauntlet
• On his left arm, he has a gauntlet that was modded to have a bunch of different utilities, such as: a wristpad that helps him control things like his ship and communication, a cable tie launcher that can also cover the cable tie in electricity, a flamethrower, dart launchers, and most importantly: his wrist-wielded, white energy shield. It is also very useful for just backhanding people and leaving a mark.
| Modded Force Pike (“Equalizer”)
• Arguably what Gavin deems as the most important tool in his arsenal, this force pike is why Gavin is able to engage in melee combat with lightsaber users and come out victorious. It’s collapsable, allowing it to be easily holstered on his belt. The stem of the pike is made of Phrik, making it resistant to lightsaber strikes, further aided by the energy-powering of the weapon itself. There’s been some modifications to the pike, adding magnetic clamps, and allowing for the pike to not only shoot out bursts of electricity, but also absorb any incoming lightning.
| Rocket Boots
• Another integral part of his equipment, his rocket boots allow him to keep up with Force sensitives in their agility, as well as allowing him to gain vantage points.
| Cycler Rifle (“Ol’ Fashioned”)
• Usually slung on his back, this cycler rifle is one of Gavin's older weapons. Firing slug rounds, it’s the perfect weapon to use when faced with a lightsaber-wielder who constantly deflects his blaster bolts, as well as for making it harder to determine where he is shooting from.
| Modded Respirator
• One of Gavin’s less needed but constantly used pieces of equipment, this respirator has a built-in filter, disregarding the need for an external canister. An additional piece that isn’t often used are tubes that connect the respirator to his lungs, allowing oxygen to travel directly to them. Next to the filter, is a small tank of oxygen, mostly for cases where a filter wouldn’t work, and giving him a short amount of time of having oxygen.
| Electrostaff (“Beginning”)
• An older weapon that Gavin wielded frequently, this electrostaff was his first “proper” melee weapon, having no modifications done to it aside from having the shaft be constructed from Phrik. This electrostaff was there in the beginning of his bounty hunting career, however it was replaced for his current Force Pike, due to it being easier to carry.
| Other/Misc
• Moving onto his more general equipment, he carries several other, everyday equipment, such as: force cuffs, different types of grenades, basic medical equipment, and other general things. He also has no problems with simply buying things he needs, having bought things such as mines or turrets before.
STRENGTHS
| High Skill Level in Martial Arts
• Due to the environment Gavin had while growing up, coupled with his constant training and want to improve, he has a vast amount of knowledge and skill in both unarmed and armed martial arts, showing mastery over weapons like his Force Pike or his Electrostaff, while also demonstrating extreme knowledge in the unarmed fighting style of Echani.
| Top Notch Marksmanship
• Even though he prefers close-quarters fighting any day of the week, Gavin is still very proficient with his ranged weaponry. While he is better skilled with his dual blasters as opposed to his rifle, there’s no doubt that he can land consistent and accurate shots with both weapons.
| Near Peak Human Physique
• A very important part of Gavin’s skill set that allows him to keep up with Force Sensitives, Gavin’s body has its characteristics (senses, strength, speed, etc.) all heightened to the point that not only is he able to keep up with trained Force users, but be able to outright defeat them.
| Tactical Mind
• Despite not having many opportunities to sit down and plan, Gavin does have a present tactical prowess with planning and preparations. Sometimes, you just need a moment to sit down and think it over.
| Inhuman ability to read body language
• An ability that is less known, Gavin possesses an inhuman-like ability to pick up on bodily cues and movements. Even the slightest change in body demeanor is noticeable to him, and people who are not aware of their own body language are able to be read like a book. This skill is especially useful in being able to keep up with Force sensitives who have some level of foresight, being counteracted by his own bootleg “version” of it.
WEAKNESSES
| Only Human
• Despite all of his training, the countless hours spent honing his abilities and making himself the best version he could possibly be-- he's still only human. He's completely capable of making mistakes and being wrong. He gets tired, frustrated, emotional. He can be fooled and misled. And at the end of the day, one good blow to the head is fully capable of knocking him out.
| Too Glory Driven
• Despite it very much not being a good idea, Gavin is the type of person to, when he meets an enemy of equal or superior capabilities in battle, throw aside all his normal equipment, grab his force pike and turn on his gauntlet's shield, and fight them like his culture taught him to. This, obviously, can be used against him, as he will actively put himself at a disadvantage if he feels like he can get a good fight in.
| All In, or All Out
• On a more personal level for Gavin, due to the factors that brought about his personality, should a conflict arise, there's two stances he will take: either he doesn't care at all, or he really cares. A lot. In many situations, he will either give it 10000%, or none at all. He'll either get involved to the most of his ability, or decide it's too stupid for him to care (which is subjective). And both of these standpoints can be exploited: if he's all in, he can be coaxed into doing something stupid. If he's all out, that's one less problem others have to deal with.
| One in a Million
• Gavin is quite a unique case of a person, given his circumstances around how he grew up. On top of that, being unique has its benefits and drawbacks. However, in a galaxy full of uniqueness, the benefits start to dwindle, and the drawbacks start to become bigger and bigger. Because of his uniqueness, and preference to work alone as opposed to in a group, Gavin is a pretty lonely person. And while that's never been an issue in the past, it's started to dawn on his psyche recently.
HISTORY
Rather than being born into a normal family, Gavin Restur (given the name “Selic Erken” when he was first born) was instead born into a small community on Thyrsus that still secretly followed the old Echani culture, due to the hate that factions like the Sun Guard had for them due to conflicts over a thousand years in the past. It’s important to note that Selic and the people who birthed him were the only Human members.
The Echani were a people that believed in prioritizing combat, so much to the point that it was essentially a way of communication and expression. This means that from the moment he was born, he had a weapon in his hand, and would train vigorously in unarmed and melee combat. Fighting was seen as an essential part of Selic’s life, but it was not seen in a “bloodthirsty” or “ruthless” light.
From his childhood all the way up to his mid-teens, Selic stayed within this community, honing his combat prowess and living by fighting. However, their community was inevitably found out, and the community was both literally and figuratively burned to the ground by the Sun Guard, with Selic being the only living survivor. He managed to flee by boarding one of the attacker’s shuttles, and barely managing to fly away.
Due to the damage that the shuttle had sustained by gunfire and obstacles, once the shuttle was out of orbit, it quickly stopped working, reduced to a shuttle lost in space. Luckily for Selic, by a streak of pure luck, a Galactic Alliance vessel that had been in the area found his lost shuttle. Unsure of what they were looking at, they sent a shuttle to the ship once they had done a bio-scan and realized there was only a sole teenage boy inside. From there, he was taken in by the Alliance, being brought to a nearby friendly planet, where he was treated of any wounds, and was allowed to reside in an Alliance military base until it was figured out what they should do with him. There was a note made by the troops about how adept he was in fighting, at least in melee combat, due to him asking them to spar him: an ultimate form of respect, as he was taught. It was also one of the troopers who was closest to Selic that helped him come up with his new name, Gavin Restur, in order to prevent anyone from hunting him down after his community was killed.
A few months passed, before Gavin finally moved on from the Alliance base. Being a teenager with no money, he was forced to do small and odd jobs just to be able to garner up some credits. But, after gathering up enough money to at least sustain himself, he started moving into mercenary work- doing small jobs of security, mostly. It was these jobs that gave Gavin the needed experience to learn the basic understandings of this line of work, and the money he gained allowed him to slowly start getting better and better equipment.
At one point in his life, Gavin decided to switch from small jobs, to proper bounty hunting, which led to him joining a bounty hunting guild. From there, he gained even more experience, occasionally partnering up with those who had been in the business longer than him, and learning from them. However, his time in the guild was relatively short. After an unclear altercation with the Hutt Cartel that Gavin doesn’t like to talk about much, he left the bounty hunting guild he was in. Whether this was by choice or he was forced to leave remains unclear.
After leaving the guild, it was around this time that Gavin started to take contracts and bounties that were directly posted by the Alliance. It was primarily his work on these contracts that started to slowly build up his reputation, as he has brought in some pretty pricey bounties. With these deeds as a way of repaying the Alliance for what they had done for him, it was only a matter of time before the Alliance offered him a legitimate contract to be a bounty hunter/mercenary for them, currently leaving him in a pretty good spot. What's to happen next, we shall see.
