PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Garus still exudes the outlook of youth. He retains hopeful optimism and tries to see the good in everybody. While he is capable of great feats in the Force and is well versed in martial abilities, he is hesitant to engage. He still struggles with feelings of abandonment and self worth, usually offering a loud persona while still hiding who he is inside.

HISTORY
Garus Bushi was born to the Togashi Clan on Atrisia two decades ago. The Bushi family were freighters contracted to deliver goods from Atrisia to customers all across the galaxy. Often, the parents brought their family of six children, of which Garus was the youngest. Despite constantly being on the move, the Bushi family had deep ties to their home world and spent as much time as they could in the valley where their clan lived. But most of Garus’ memories from his earliest years were aboard the old hauler as they traversed the emptiness of space.
It was a profitable profession that gave them a comfortable life until pirates hijacked them.
The old ship had dropped from hyperspace as they prepared for the final leg of their journey. What they thought was empty space turned out to be anything but. For the pirates were already lying in wait. The father attempted a short jump to escape, but the first volley knocked out their engines. At that point, any chance of escape was gone. So the father decided upon the path of least resistance and surrendered. Little did he know how much he was giving up.
When the pirates boarded, they quickly ended the idea of a peaceful transaction; at the same time, they ended their lives. Blaster bolts cut them down in a hail of fire until the family lay discarded like worthless trash.
For days the ship tumbled in the emptiness of space until a ship carrying a Jedi master deviated from their course, per the Jedi’s instructions. That was the day Master Orik recovered the only survivor. Garus. When the boy was discovered to be Force-sensitive, he was enrolled at the temple as a youngling.
As the years passed, Garus showed an innate connection to the Force, and his mind was always inquisitive, finding alternative answers to many problems. But his heart was troubled because of his past, and the emotions he felt were deemed problematic. When it came time to select a Padawan, many knights met him but chose another, sensing the disturbance the child held. It seemed that Garus was destined for the AgriCorp of the Jedi until Master Orik returned to the temple and selected him as his new Padawan.
Initially, the council was worried about the bond the two shared, but eventually they agreed. And so Garus fell under the tutelage of the old Master who had rescued him years earlier.
Time passed, and Garus followed Orik on his many missions while also absorbing every iota of knowledge and skill from his master. By fifteen, his abilities in the Force were comparable to a knight. At seventeen, his martial skills surpassed all his peers and many of the knighthood. Finally, at nineteen, he was elevated to Jedi Knight.
As a Jedi Knight, Garus went on many missions requiring both diplomacy and the will and ability to act, should it be required. During this time, he chafed at the council's decisions to bend to the will of the Senate. Jedi temples and enclaves all across the galaxy were being attacked and destroyed by forces of Sith and Mandalorians. At the same time, the hands of the Jedi were kept chained due to government oversight and the invisible lines that separated nations. Yet Garus persevered in his duties until the Order of the Fist was born.
Now he has decided to enlist with Master Orik and take the fight to the shadows where the Light burned the brightest.
