Physical Information
Age: 43 GSY

Force Sensitive: No

Species: Iakaru

Appearance: Standing at just about 5'10” and weighing over 200 pounds, Garmon is squat sturdy creature. His visage is rather deceptive at first glance, appearing short and fat compared to many of the Galaxies other denizens. However, this is not the case. Garmon's body weight is comprised mostly of muscle which he developed over a lifetime of swinging through trees on Iakar. A distinct milky-whiteness can also be seen in his left eye, a tell-tale sign of blindness.

Social Information
Name: Garmon Garmon

Loyalties: Iakar, Rikard Tetalar

Wealth: Below-Average

Notable Possessions:

  • Slugthrower Rifle

  • Vibroblade Machete

  • Ceremonial Dagger

Personality: Years of abuse by off-worlders have stunted the views of the Iakaru. Though more are entering the Galactic sphere in recent years, an inherent distrust of the unknown still exists within them. Garmon is no different. He exudes a gruff air, scoffing at or outright ignoring those he deems unworthy to speak with. He has little love for pleasantries and making nice, instead simply stating what he thinks rather bluntly. Even when interacting with longtime friends he can still be perceived as rude and uncooperative. Only when around other Iakaru speaking his native tongue does his demeanor lighten into a more jovial manner.

Combat Information
Weapon of Choice:

  • Slugthrower Rifle

  • Vibroblade Machete

Combat Function: Having spent most of his life in the canopies of Iakar, Garmon prefers close range combat. His immense upper body strength and superb reflexes allow him to combat foes with varying degrees of skill. Since leaving Iakar and taking to Galactic travel he has taken slightly more to the use long-range weapons. Not overtly fond of blasters, Garmon diverted to slugthrowers. However, his eyesight is fairly poor. Limiting his effective range from medium to short distances.

Historical Information
Garmon spent his early life deep in the jungles of Iakar. His people, boasting a longstanding distrust of off-worlders, lived a mostly secluded existence. While some ventured off to new worlds to trade or in search of some destiny, Garmon was content with his lot in life. The young Iakaru plying his muscular prowess in service to his brethren in the militia. His duties simple. Protect the village to the best of his ability. A feat that, the way Garmon himself would tell it, he excelled at.

In his early twenties Garmon was involved in the Iakaru Civil War, fighting for the traditionalist sect. Off-world smugglers found that Iakar made a perfect hideaway for their ill-gotten gains. At first the Iakaru paid them no mind. Adopting a no harm no foul policy, as long as the smugglers evaded their territory. It was not until several years later the smuggling operation approached the Iakaru. They proposed a partnership to better secure their caches on the planet. The Iakaru would guard their goods, and in return the smugglers would bring in valuable off-world goods.

It did not take long for many voices to rise in favor of the partnership. The argument for it being that the Iakaru already protected the jungles to the best of their ability. Why not be rewarded for work already done? Those against cited the immorality of the situation, and possible consequences should greater powers discover their involvement. A consensus was reached by Iakaru Elders to refuse the smugglers' offer, however, despite this many Iakaru defied the ruling. Going into business with the smugglers.

A series of debates between the two sides of the argument quickly arose. The two dubbed thereafter as the Traditionalist Sect, standing against the smugglers; and the Prosperity Sect, colluding with them. No common ground could be reached, and after increasingly violent conflicts war was declared. Iakaru fought Iakaru in the streets. Blood was spilled. Each side refusing to relent, causing all Iakaru to suffer. After roughly a year of fighting the Prosperity Sect managed to gain the upper hand. Their numbers bolstered by the hired guns of the smugglers.

Garmon found himself on the losing side of several engagements. Traditionalist Sect forces being turned back at nearly every turn. Open warfare, proving too costly, was cast aside for hit and run tactics. Garmon and his allies began focusing on attacking smuggler caches and transports instead of Iakaru forces. Their aim was to make basing on Iakar too costly for the off-worlders. This style of combat would continue for near a decade, meeting with varying degrees of success.

In the end it was not the Traditionalist Sect that forced the smugglers off the planet, but other off-worlders. Security forces targeting the smuggling ring managed to disrupt it's Galactic operations. This, in turn, forced them to focus elsewhere leading them to abandon Iakaru. Many of the Iakaru that fought for the smugglers left the planet with them, those that stayed were forced to pay reparations through physical labor. The damage had been done though. An entire generation of Iakaru life had been wasted.

After the war Garmon found himself at odds with himself. Unlike most of his kin he could not so easily reconcile with his former enemies. Perhaps due to the eye injury he obtained during the war, or simply because he felt guilty for killing so many kinsmen. He found himself taking longer patrols increasingly farther from the village. The sounds of the jungle and the seclusion it offered his only saving grace in those times. It was on such an encounter he would have a fated run in, with a rather odd man.

Rikard Tetalar had come to Iakar to study a rare plant specimen said to have immense medical properties. Garmon did not believe him. After such a long and bloody civil war caused by off-worlders the Iakaru was taking no chances with Rikard. He knocked him out, but him in bindings, and carted him off to the village center. After discussing his intent with the village Elders Rikard was absolved of any supposed crimes and allowed to continue his work, under one condition. Garmon would accompany him for the length of his stay.

Rikard spent nearly a year on Iakar. While Garmon never quite opened up to the young Human in that time, the two did end up with a strange sort of friendship. When Rikard did finally announce his departure from Iakar he asked Garmon if he would like to join him, keeping with good manners and all. Never did Rikard expect the Iakaru to except. Not fully able to come to terms with what happened on his home-world, Garmon thought he would find peace elsewhere. Traveling alongside in search of such ever since.
