PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

A man of modest height and fit build, Gareth is never seen in anything other than the finest uniforms. He has long brown hair with a red tint and equine legs with long fur, a common trait to all Half-Bothans. His forehead has two angular horns emerging from them, larger than average for his species.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Gareth Alatha is a man of duty. He can often come off as posh or ignorant to the woes of others, but at heart he is a public servant. The Alatha family has a rich history of service to Hosnian Prime, which has put him in a long line of many before him who have entered office. He is often quite jovial, smirk plastered on his face. His humor can often manifest at inappropriate times, and he has no apprehension to playing the role of charmer. He often has no issues making himself look dense to make an opponent let their guard down.

HISTORY

The Alatha family is a line with royal origins back on the home world of the Half-Bothans, Farfalla. It was there that their rival house, the Farfalla family, ruled as the planet's monarchy. Both families were Force Sensitive, and while the Farfalla family was deeply rooted in the Jedi Order the Alatha family had one of their own pursue the dark arts of the Sith. It was this brief flirtation with the darkside that saw the Alatha family banished, never to return to their home planet again. After an internal war within the Alatha family the Sith would be purged, instilling a deep hatred of their kind. in 700 BBY, they would finally settle on Hosnian Prime. Their goal was simple: Achieve status and regain their lost glory.

After over a thousand years the Alatha family is a political juggernaut. They have a deep rooted history of military service, administrative dynasties, public works, celebrity status, and so much more. Gareth Alatha IV, son of the beloved Puris Alatha III, was born into this world with chit-eating grin on his face. He coasted through life without a care, content to drift and enjoy his status. It was ultimately death that would give him new life. Like his father before him, Gareth joined the local navy at the age of 18. It was here that he would make a life long friend. A brother, the brave and honorable Loskar Fes, a navy captain. The two would serve together until one battle saw them part. When acting to disrupt Hutt Cartel activity in the underbelly of Hosnian Prime, Captain Fes was fatally shot and died in Gareth's arms. Fes told him to protect the planet he loved with all their heart, a final call to action. Gareth learned the fragility of life that day, and soon his soul became wrapped up in a tug of war with his newly developing empathy.

Gareth still wears a grin. He still makes jokes at wildly inapropriate times. People still probably want to punch him. But underneath all of that is a heart of gold, something he keeps guarded and hidden from the rest of the galaxy. No cards will be shown to his enemies. Only chaos. As the Galactic Alliance fell and Hosnian Prime moved to join the ranks of the High Republic, Gareth swept the poles and succeeded his father for the seat of Senator.
