Galina’s Alkahest Amulet

Intent: To make a special unique item for [member="Galina Kerrigan-Alcori"]. This is an adaptation of a previously submitted Alkahest item, this time using all the skills Phylis has learned.

Phylis Alince’s recent discovery about the ability to use the Light Side to create alchemical effects led to the establishment of her shop. The very first item she created was an amulet to help protect [member="Kaida Taldir"] from mental attacks.
Sith alchemy, for thousands of years, has possessed the ability to enchant and infuse items with powers. This include amulets able to protect and ward the wearer. This precedent, using the Dark Side no less, gave Phylis hope that she could create a Light Side version even more suited to protection. For whilst the Dark is good at attack and destruction, the Light is strongest when being used for protection.
Phylis’ abilities have now advanced to the point where she can now make items infused with the light which are as physically resistant as Sith objects and possess powers equal to such alchemy items.
The construction method is as following. Please note, this writer is not a blacksmith or metallurgist, so any mistakes in the process must be put down to writer error.
This amulet’s primary function is to boost the bearer’s mental defences against external threats. It can boost one’s abilities by approximately one ‘rank’, so a Padawan could resist like a Knight and so on. However, there are important qualifications.
Phylis has been able to increase her skills in Alkahest, so this item is now fully as resistant to harm as any Sith Alchemy item. It can now only be destroyed by being disenchanted by a very powerful Dark Side user or extreme conditions such as lava, black holes etc.

- Metal of choice put in the furnace.
- Blood taken from buyer, a small amount.
- Molten metal poured into mould along with the blood.
- Phylis uses the Force to bind the blood, metal and Light to almost alchemise the metal.
- Amulet is cooled and removed from mould, touched up and polished.
- Desired Light Side Force energy channelled into amulet.
- Phylis completes the alchemisation and makes the item unbreakable.
- Buyer attunes with the amulet to bind it to them.
This amulet’s primary function is to boost the bearer’s mental defences against external threats. It can boost one’s abilities by approximately one ‘rank’, so a Padawan could resist like a Knight and so on. However, there are important qualifications.
- The amulet amplifies one’s mental defences rather than doing it by itself. Thus the wearer must be concentrating to make use of the amulet.
- The amulet boosts one’s strength, but by no means creates an unbreakable shell. A strong mentalist can penetrate even this amulet’s additional strength. This is especially true in the case of a mentally focused master taking on another master without such training.
- The amulet is attuned to one person only. Another person putting it on would be unable to use it effectively.
- As the amulet is constructed using Light energies, a Dark adept putting it on will be at best unable to use it, at worst suffer a nasty rash.
- As Dark Side artefacts can be destroyed or disenchanted by Force Light, so this is vulnerable to the powers of a Dark Master, provided the item is not being worn by its owner.
