Galactic Republic Weekly News

I’ll start this week with Dominion news. We currently have two ongoing. The first was designed primarily for NFUs. Does that mean you can’t participate if you are a Jedi? Of course not, but the plan was always to build the objectives around military and senatorial skill-sets. If you haven’t joined in yet, the thread is here.

Next up we have a dominion that is primarily for Padawans. Yet again, this is open to anyone and everyone but it was seen as a good idea to allow the newer Jedi to have centre stage in a dominion. Once more, if you want to participate, you just have to go here. And what if you don't like the Objectives or aren't sure how your character would fit in? Then just do your own thing. Objectives are a guide, not a rule.

The threads are also on the front page of the Republic boards. And on that subject, if there are any threads you’d like me to mention or for us to add to that front page, just let us know.

The main news this week is that we have a new Grand Admiral of the Military. A huge congratulations to [member="Gir Quee"], who takes over at the helm.

Every now and then the same questions tend to come up, so it’s worth repeating them here. This week, I’ll spend a few lines explaining Dominions, Skirmishes and Invasions.

Dominions are when we wish to take an unowned planet. We need 100 posts and no writer may contribute more than 20 posts. Once we reach the goal, the thread concludes. Unless another Faction goes for the same planet and also finishes within a similar time-frame, the planet becomes ours. The decision on which planet to target is typically an OOC team discussion (we have a group just for this purpose).

Skirmishes are Faction versus Faction and anyone can start them at any time. No approval is required. Having said that, common sense says we check with FAs of both Factions first in case it affects an upcoming Invasion (if a skirmish destroyed a planet’s defences for example, any Invasions started within a short time-frame would assume those defences had not been repaired). However if a skirmish is just a fight between two small teams of characters, there would be no value in waiting for any approvals – just go for it.

Invasions are the most formal and are discussed between Factions Admin teams to agree objectives. The winner either wins or retains the planet.

So, until next week, you stay classy Galactic Republic.
