Ktharash’karr tribesman
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
A member of the trandoshan species, large bipedal reptilian humanoids with distinct lizard-like features known for their natural strength, hunting instincts, and regenerative abilities. Gaa’lhdu’ur is your regular T’doshok, sporting green scales and an athletic build, three toes and fingers at each hand and feet, an angular and broad face with prominent nostrils, sharp teeth, and piercing eyes set beneath a heavy brow ridge. His most defining feature is his use of ceremonial warpaints, red and white markings, running patterns across his scales, following ritualistic designs.
The blessed nature of these paints is also the reason why Gaa’lhdu’ur wears little in the way of clothing. What garments he does wear are minimal and utilitarian, chosen solely for practicality and never to obscure the sacred markings. To conceal them would not only be a sign of disrespect, but might also negate their spiritual significance and the superstitiously protective power they are believed to hold.
INVENTORY
- 6-2Aug2 hunting rifle
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
A highly spiritual—and at times, spirituous—hunter, Gaa’lhdu’ur embodies the traditionalist heart of Trandoshan culture. Like most of his kin, he has built his life upon the sacred teachings of the Scorekeeper, whose divine ledger tallies the worth of every T’doshok through acts of prowess and conquest. Fiercely loyal to the ancient customs of his tribe, he scorns the use of high-point technology, believing that true glory must be earned through raw instinct, strength, and skill. To rely on machines or modern weaponry in the hunt is, to him, a form of spiritual laziness and a betrayal of the sacred contract between hunter and prey.
This philosophy also instills in Gaa’lhdu’ur a personal code of honor. He refuses to engage foes who are clearly harmless or incapable of defending themselves, seeing no glory in striking the weak or the desperate. Opportunistic kills, especially those targeting the destitute or defenseless, are unworthy of tribute to the Scorekeeper.
Far more at home in the heart of a dense jungle than in the artificial sprawl of a city, Gaa’lhdu’ur holds deep-rooted beliefs in spirits, fate, and unseen forces. Raised in a culture where the natural world and the spiritual realm are deeply entwined, he views the universe through a lens of primal mysticism. Interestingly, he interprets the Force not as some abstract energy or religious doctrine, but as a form of natural wizardry flowing through the living world. To him, those who wield it are not scholars or warriors, but sorcerers meddling with primal forces, sometimes revered, sometimes feared.
STRENGTHS
- Primal Instincts & Tracking Expertise: Years of jungle survival and ceremonial hunts have honed Gaa'lhdu'ur's senses to a razor's edge. He reads terrain like scripture and can track prey—be it beast or sentient—with uncanny precision, even across unfamiliar worlds. His intuition in the wild often outpaces tech-based scanners.
- Unshakable Discipline: His tribal upbringing and spiritual code instill in him a near-unbreakable resolve. Whether resisting torture, standing his ground under fire, or enduring long missions in harsh environments, Gaa'lhdu'ur's mental and physical endurance rarely falters.
- Trandoshan physique: Gaa'lhdu'ur possesses the natural advantages of his species: exceptional strength, regenerative healing, and heightened physical endurance. His scaled hide offers resistance to the elements and minor damages.
WEAKNESSES
- Tech Aversion: While he'll use basic gear out of necessity, Gaa'lhdu'ur harbors a deep mistrust of high-tech weaponry, cybernetics, and overreliance on machines. This makes him stubbornly resistant to upgrades or strategies that involves advanced technologies, sometimes to the detriment of his effectiveness.
- Superstitious Mindset: His deep spiritual beliefs and tribal upbringing make him highly superstitious. He interprets omens in natural signs, refuses to act during certain rituals or celestial alignments, and may disobey orders if he believes they violate taboo. While these convictions give him purpose, they can also cloud his judgment or cause hesitation at critical moments.
- Instinct Over Discipline: Though a capable combatant, Gaa'lhdu'ur lacks formal military training. His methods are raw, rooted in tribal tactics and instinct rather than precision or chain-of-command discipline. This can make him unpredictable in structured operations, and sometimes unreliable in coordinated team maneuvers.
HISTORY
Gaa’lhdu’ur was born on Trandosha, into the Ktharash’karr clan, one of the oldest and most tradition-bound communities of the T’doshok. Sometimes called “Bone Guards” by their surrounding peers, the Ktharash’karr have long organised their community around the sentinel duty over burial grounds hidden deep within Trandosha’s jungles. They were less of a single bloodline or assembly, and more of a confederation of sister tribes bound by shared beliefs and ancestral duties.
Educated within the clan and its ancestral traditions, Gaa’lhdu’ur, like many of his generation, was eventually sent off-world, cast into the wider galaxy in pursuit of credits and resources to support his people. For the Ktharash’karr, every warrior who left Trandosha carried their tribe’s spirit with them, expected to prove their worth not just in blood, but in the value they could bring back to the sacred grounds.
He ultimately joined the Ranger Sector, finding in their discipline and self-reliant ethos a rare alignment with his own tribal values. Their respect for wilderness, survival, and the sanctity of hardship, when deserved, mirrored the Ktharash’karr values more than most galactic institutions. It was also a practical decision, ensuring a steady influx of credits and equipment that could be funneled back to his home clan. In serving the Rangers, he serves the Scorekeeper and the jungle graves of his ancestors.
Away from his main duty as a Ranger, he also operates as a Varactyl beeder and herder for the benefit of the Jedi Temple of Tython.
