"You're always owed an apology for something you didn't do. I was mad at you for something that wasn't your fault. Jealous of you."

It was ironic, in a way that Reina could understand jealousy in some things but not others. But it was true. She had been jealous of how many people had went off to rescue her when Azurine had been captured. Because Reina felt like it wouldn't be the same for her. That voice in the back of her mind always whispered to her that she would just be forgotten about. The same way her family had forgotten about her when they abandoned her to the wayside...

No. Bad thoughts. She was meant to be focusing on being positive. This was meant to be a good day for her. Even if she wasn't used to it being special. She looked down at the gift Azurine had given, and the redhead's eyes sparkled for a moment. She twisted and turned the bottle for a moment, getting as much detail of the ship as she could. There were a few small bits she wanted to comment on, about how certain things should be over here, or certain details weren't right...but that's what made it so perfect to her. It wasn't a perfect boat, which made it so much better as Reina pulled Azurine into another hug. Less hesitantly this time as she broke out into a small smile.

"...Thank you. I'll treasure it."

One might have expected Reina to be all hugged out. For her to be sick of all the physical contact but as soon as she finished hugging Azurine and let the other woman look at the people around us, Reina made a beeline straight to Aadihir. Another person she felt like deserved a hug from her. Everest had deserved one because she was Reina's best friend. Azurine deserved one as an apology. And Aadihr deserved one for saving her so long ago. It probably wasn't something he remembered nor thought about as she wrapped her arms around the Miralukan.

He had been there in the moment when Reina had decided to finally join the Jedi. Keshi had been one situation but Jedha had made her realise that she did well helping people under pressure. Reina could still remember cauterising the wound he had gotten back then. That was...one thing she wasn't sure if she'd be able to do without hesitation now. It just went to show that thawing as a person was both a blessing and a curse. Either way, she didn't elaborate what the hug was for, as she stepped back, giving a quick wave of acknowledgement towards Aris.

"I need...to probably go and see some more people. But I might join for Limbo later."

As Reina turned to leave for a moment, she stopped. Frowning as she noticed a complete stranger staring directly at her, almost with a look of confusion and surprise on their face. They didn't seem to be a member of the GADF or Jedi Order...In fact, they seemed strangely familiar if Reina focused on them. Yet before she could confront the stranger, Valery and Kahlil arrived. The most important arrival however was Yvaine as Reina let out a squeal. Yes. An actual squeal of excitement and her face lit up almost immediately, the stranger in the distance forgotten about.

"There's my favourite girl!...And Valery as well."
There was a slow warmth coming to Reina's eyes that she hadn't ever shown before. Her expression settling into a constant smile...though a small flush came to her cheeks at being told she looked beautiful. It was a compliment she wasn't used to and she doubt she'd ever get used to it as she nodded.

"I don't think I'm being spoiled rotten...but I'm grateful for all of this. Eve is amazing. I owe her so much for this."

She turned her head back for a moment to look over towards the Echani, the warmth in Reina's eyes growing for a moment alongside a strange tightness in her stomach she couldn't explain before looking back over towards Valery.

"It's...nice to take a break and not focus on training."

Jessikal extended her hand out to shake Thilarii's hand firmly. "Senator Jessikal Skea. I represent Hosnian Prime in the Senate, and honorary Captain of the 44th. A pleasure to meet you Captain Altinova. " Jessikal turned to sip on her smoothie, keeping her eyes peeled out for the supposed birthday person. One of the 44th came over to whisper into her ear, which caused Jessikal to nod slowly. She then turned to Thilarii. "Looks like the special person is down by the beach with a variety of high profile members of the Jedi and others. Might as well give her a gift while she is still there. Come along Captain."

Jessikal, along with two members of the 44th would walk to the beach where Reina Daival Reina Daival was, awaiting their turn to speak to her. Once there was a lull in the interactions, Jessikal approached Reina, giving her a bow. "On behalf of the 44th Bantha Company, we wish you a Happy Birthday, ma'am. Please accept this gift as a token of our thanks for being invited." Jessikal would hand the wrapped gift to Reina. "The 44th insisted that they each bring their own individual gifts, but I think you didn't want hundreds of gifts." Jessikal added with a small chuckle.

By now, enough sudden hugs had ambushes Aadihr that he didn't flinch when Reina hugged him.

Just let her wrap her arms around him, small and unexpected as it was, and held still for a moment. His arms moved after a beat — one across her back, brief but steady. No words, no questions.

He didn’t need the explanation.

He remembered Keshi. Jedha. Her shaking hands trying stopping the bleeding, borrowing a lightsaber to cauterize him, even as he faded in and out of wound-dreams. Her voice was steadier than he expected it to be. The quiet will to help even when she thought she wasn’t worth much. He remembered her trying.

So now, when she pulled away with a simple wave and talk of limbo, he only offered a small, inclined nod in reply. No protest.

He turned his face slightly, toward Azurine, just to listen as she teased Aris, tossed barbs with ease, and offered a gift she clearly labored over. A ship in a bottle. Hand-forged, imperfect, stubbornly beautiful.

He understood that, too.

Then came her declaration, wreathed in sass and mischief.

"If I'm going to be doing limbo, then I'm dragging your asses with me."

Aadihr didn’t laugh — not exactly. But the faintest twitch of a smirk touched his mouth, gone in a flash.

“...I brought my own Stick,” he deadpanned, voice dry as sunbaked stone. Yes. He was was going to Stick with that name for his pike. Purely to see how far the bit would last before it transitioned from humorous to painfully groan-worthy in Azzie's aura. Then he would continue a little further. It's only fair, considering the pranks she's grown more bold with since they've started... being what they are.

Ultimately, he said it because Azurine was smiling again. Ad Force help him, that was reason enough.

Oh, and the 44th presented Reina with a gift coat. Aadihr has been called bantha-headed too many times to count. Apparently these ladies had wooly hair as well. Honestly, Aadihr didn't see the resemblance.

Yeah, he'd have to workshop that.

It was rare for Eryx to be fine in his arms, and it was certainly something he appreciated more than he'd say aloud. He gave Reina a nod once they did approach, and a smile. Birthdays were a special thing he'd learned much too late in his life for his own. It was good she got to experience this now. "Happy birthday." He added, even as Yvaine let out a giggle of delight to Reina, reaching out for her.

She knew when she was someone's favorite.

Aris watched Azurine for a moment longer. He was aware. It was too easy for him now to get a sense of how people felt. His expression remained the same though, as he smiled and nodded his head. "I didn't know that, actually." Iridonia didn't have oceans? Yeah, that would add to the stress of seeing this body of water. He didn't linger too long, though.

Mostly because Everest Vale Everest Vale hugged him. He blinked for a moment, awkwardly standing there before sort of just, patting the top of her head. Friends hugged each other, right? As much as Aris had started to better understand his own emotions and the emotions of others, social cues and the like were still something he had to figure out.

".. I followed my parents. I don't have anything for Reina, honestly." Same circles, no real interactions. In taht regard, he was kind of a stranger himself. But he wasn't going to join the crowd of people suddenly all trying to get her attention. He couldn't handle that himself, so, hopefully she'd be better off.

“That looked like it hurt,” she observed as she turned her board toward him. The waves were consistent as she maintained balance, making adjustments. It took time and effort but after enough tries she had managed to get the hang of this sport. Still had much to learn, of course. “I’d offer you my hand but we might both fall in.”

"Oh trust me, it's fine," He assured her. "Most of the racket came from the water."

In fact, his tailbone did ache a tad, but he just smiled through the pain in front of the stranger. He didn't want his first impression with the woman to be that of a crybaby, especially in front of his kid cousin. Conway would never let him hear the end of it.

She looked past him as water curled higher and higher. "I'm Vayla by the way." She waited a moment for him to give his own. “I think that wave is calling our names.” She gestured over his shoulder as the little monster came.

"Mykel," he said replied curtly, not out of rudeness, but from a sense of urgency as he felt the new swell pushing against him, soon to capsize him if he didn't get a move on.

"Hey guys, keep back!" he called out to Kaldor and Conway, his master gently but firmly leading away his whining cousin who wanted to ride the coming wave. Bless Kaldor. Aunt Tessa would beat him from here to Endor if she found out he let Conway risk such big waves.

"Hey I'll lead," he told her, using a little push of his hand against the water to quickly maneuver himself to her right.

Before, he hadn't really been concentrating all that much with his senses in his relaxed mood, his state of mind lazy like half-lidded eyes, but now he was focused, expanding his perception beyond the physical, feeling the potential energy of the wind driven swell manifesting into a wave. Once again he snapped upright as his board became caught in the new speed stream. He couldn't see Vayla, but he felt her in the Force, her aura resonating strongly like his. A fellow Force Adept.

The wave continued to rise, then curl over itself, creating a watery tunnel. Mykel yelled in glee as he reached out and let his fingers skim through the cascading seawater. For a few precious moments, the world around the pair disappeared behind a watery veil as they were completely enveloped by the great wave.

Mykel. Kaldor. Conway. They seemed to be a team of three. Vayla acknowledged the other two with a nod as Mykel balanced his board with the Force. He wanted to lead? That was fine. Evidently it would just be them against the wave as his friends moved away. “After you, mate.”

He seemed capable, never mind being a Jedi, but time would tell if Mykel could handle what was coming. Vayla as well. Yet their excitement was unmistakable. Adrenaline coursed through Vay’s veins as wind and water rushed against her skin, brushed her hair backward, and she tasted the salt of the sea as it splashed in her face.

The ocean provided a cool breeze despite being cold as ice underneath, but she could feel the heat of the moment as her heart beat. Riding beside her newfound surfing partner, their conquest loomed before them, curling upward as if to beckon the challenge and pound them downward.

She might have said something, afforded a cheer or words like “Here it comes!” but she said nothing. The moment spoke for itself as their boards tore through the water, ripping forward, sending smaller waves rippling away as their big brother came.

Here we come. Vayla heard Mykel yell and, while she didn’t return the gesture, she did smile wide. Lips became a wicked grin that pivoted into a roar of laughter as her board hit. Knees bent, bare legs drenched, arms extended, she accepted the challenge and shifted direction at the perfect second.

The wave stormed toward her as she rode across its wall, facing the shoreline with other Jedi and more safe and sound on the beach. Mykel nearby, keeping a fair distance as they shared the moment. He hadn’t been shy about using the Force. Vayla, however, wanted to ride like she wasn’t even a Jedi, just a woman, and let the ocean call itself king even if she might fall into the deep.

Senator Velyra Vonn of Zeltros
5bGZ8Cb.png
The sea had done her the favor of glistening.

Corellia’s golden shore curved like a stage built for silhouettes, and Velyra Vonn, Senator of Zeltros, never missed her chance to be seen. The sash of sheer coral fabric at her hip danced with the breeze like it knew it was being watched. One hand held a chalice of something citrus and sparkling, the other rested loosely on the curved brim of her sun hat—tilted, naturally, just enough to cast her in a flattering veil of shade.

She didn’t arrive so much as descend, legs trailing across a path of sunlit boards with the grace of someone who never walked anywhere she didn’t plan to be watched. Her beach attire was scandalous only in how well it flattered—cut just shy of formal—was dyed in Zeltros pinks and champagnes, with translucent accents that shimmered like a flowing heat mirage. A senator's seal hung from a thin chain at her waist, half-concealed, half-posed.

Publicity. Morale. Enjoyment. Somewhere her aide was delivering a gift for the Jedi girl without intruding. Immaculately wrapped and with a handwritten note, alongside the other departmental gifts.

Let the others have their beach games and squad antics. She drifted down the shoreline like the suggestion of perfume, every step calculated to look effortless and accidental. When she saw them—Senator Jessikal Skea Jessikal Skea , crisp as ever in lifeguard formalwear delivering a gift, and a lounging commando in shade she adjusted course with the subtlest tilt of the head.

She arrived uninvited, of course.

"Senator Skea," Velyra began, with the same tone one might use to identify fine silk or vintage, "Still immaculately upright, I see. Truly, you give protocol a shapely silhouette. Your wool looks fabulous today, by the way "
The young thing was absolutely precious and soft looking with all the wool. The upkeep must be a nightmare.

Then, to Thilarii Altinova Thilarii Altinova "And you,—what a marvel. A soldier who reclines like a poet and smells faintly of citrus and sandburn. Are you always so prepared to draw inquiry?"

She smiled, slow and opalescent.

"I do hope I’m not interrupting. But it simply wouldn't do to let my dear constituents think I'd abandoned them to the mercy of military fashion and hydration tablets. A presence must be made. A hemline must be judged. Besides…"

Her eyes scanned the beach: Jedi, commandos, civilians all playing their parts in sun and spectacle.

"…it’s good for the Alliance to see us here, don’t you think? Not in marble halls. But where people laugh. Where soldiers tan. Where senators can breathe without schedules carved into their spines."

She took a sip. Let it linger. Turned back to them both with that expression of casual confidence that made compliments feel like silk and threats taste like honey.

"May I join you?"

Captain Altinova held no reservations in joining the senator and her two medicos to deliver wishes and gifts to the reclusive lady of the hour. Having stepped back into the sun with plenty of covering to protect his decency, he leave his things behind, signaling for two of the 139th to join him through whistled callings and flashed palms. With an open smile crossed over face, he awaited the commandos arrival before uttering beyond.

Though a new face stood between them and Reina, one Senator Velyra Vonn, one the captain had never the pleasure of noting before. While a courteous smile and professional demeanor stiffened his appearance to acceptance, it'd not take a genius to sense his discomfort in her words and own presentation. However, he was no fool, and saved face for the time being.

"If you two would like to catch up, I've some matters to attend before we depart." The captain offered the newly acquainted senator a curtly nod, turning his attention briefly to Jessikal whom he trailed up to that point. "If you'd see us later aboard the Shepard, we can iron out details."

ZJqTFYf.png

Making way past both senators, Thilarii closed in to speak with the birthday girl, one Reina Daival Reina Daival with two commandos in casual dress brought for vanity sake. Reina was not the only one approached of course, closing in on that large group of Jedi gathered amongst themselves spending a grand time upon the waves and hit sands. With a glance back to his ship and crew, one hulking battle droid, AT-XV/i class to be exact with the inscription 'Vice' came lumbering down off the ramp holding a large box in careful hydraulic embrace.

"Happy birthday, Padi. I heard you were in the market for a star fighter, and we just so happened upon some fancy equipment on our recent trip." A short pause as the hulking battle droid continued to lumber closer with it's large wrapped box in tow. So much for a surprise... "That should be most of what you need for maintenance, personal equipment if you're into that kind of thing." The captain cracked a smile toward the padawan he'd never quite spoken to before, but extended a hand regardless. "Thilarii Altinova, 139th commandos. We get stuck in with y'all quite a bit."

A brief motion to Valery Noble Valery Noble , Aris Noble Aris Noble , Aadihr Lidos Aadihr Lidos , and Azurine Varek Azurine Varek each in particular, though all present faces were addressed with a smile and nod. "Good to see y'all again, been a while since Lazerian." Months, even- a flash for some and a lifetime for others. "Sierra won't hush up about getting to work with the four of you again, let us know if we can make that a reality."

Mykel rode the wave for as long as he possibly could, until the tunnel finally started to collapse with its energy nearly spent. He zipped out from its clutches like a rocket, performing a lazy zig zag motion over the last bit of lip, then guided himself beachward on final shreds of momentum until rendered nearly stationary while still standing.

Finally, he looked over to see his new partner had also made it through as well with no problem. It was special to share such an experience with another friendly skilled surfer.

"That was awesome!" he called out as he settled down on his board and paddled toward her. "I could do that all day, though I can't leave my people hanging. I promised them a little action as well. You're welcome to join us, but I'm restricting them to the smaller swells."

He glanced over to them in the distance, waving with a big grin, then glanced back over at the party at beach, now a little more than specks of motion.

"Are you with the party?" He asked Vayla as he turned his attention back to her.

Vayla Mirana Vayla Mirana

Vayla rode the wave for as long as she possibly could. Like her companion, however, she was at the mercy of the sea. For her part, all of this was ultimately thanks to Makai Dashiell Makai Dashiell . He was evidently more than a mining idiot, that was for sure on that day on the beach. He had been hard at work teaching her to surf. The lessons he had were worth every mistake under the sun and then some.

Earbuds pumping music, the Pantoran woman soared the same way a bird flies over the ocean, or a fish leaps from the sea. Riding this giant wave was the score as it came for her. She wanted more. Yet the moment ended. It was time to venture beyond the throne of the ocean’s king.

Onward toward the beach, Vayla arrived behind Mykel. Awesome indeed. She thought in silence, riding her board the same way he did, with her fingers in the sea. They paddled toward one another. They were making friends already.

“That was as cool as Pantora, baby.” She followed his gesture toward his two friends. A party of four sounded as swell as the swells. He asked if she was with the party.

At that, as she licked her lips from the water that surrounded her countenance, skin as blue as the sea and no need for further adjectives. She met his big grin with her own, showing him that she was as pleased as can be at the moment.

“I’m not with anybody, truthfully,” she answered with no resentment. Vayla Mirana came on her own today. Not so lonely, though. “But I’m here to party,” she played. “And will gladly help you teach on these swells.” She needed to play as well as train.

Valery's brows lifted at the sound of Reina’s delighted squeal — not because she was surprised, but because the baby in question responded by wriggling even more excitedly in Kahlil's arms, reaching for Reina with both chubby hands and a giggle that could melt durasteel.

Valery let out an exaggerated sigh, placing a hand over her heart with mock offense.

"Oh sure, she beams at you," she said, lips quirking into a crooked smile. "Meanwhile, I get the squint. That little ‘Who are you and why are you not Dad?' look." She chuckled and gave her daughter a knowing side-eye. "Traitor."

But the warmth behind her words never faded — if anything, it deepened. Watching Reina glow in the soft joy of being seen, of being celebrated, was more than worth a momentary betrayal by a giggling baby.

Valery reached out, fingers threading through Kahlil's as she leaned into his side. The scent of salt air and warm sand mingled with the steady rhythm of the ocean, and for a brief, perfect moment, everything just... settled. This was peace. Hard-earned and deeply treasured.

Then, with a glance up at him and a subtle, dangerously playful smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth, she murmured just loud enough for him to hear:

"So… what do you think, love? Head back home after the little ones wear themselves out? Or…" Her amber eyes gleamed with suggestion as she tilted her head toward the coastline, “Maybe find a quiet spot near the beach to stay overnight?”

A beat.

“I do still have birthday privileges, after all.”

She gave his hand a squeeze, waiting for his answer — though she was already pretty sur
e which one he’d pick.

Upon seeing the Zeltron Senator approach them, wave of perfume already hit Jessikal's nose. A common scent coming from Zeltrons in Jessikal's experience. It was pleasant to say the least, especially since it usually led to Jessikal purchasing some from high end vendors for her own use. Jessikal wave her hand through her hair, or wool as Velyra put it. It was soft to touch, not losing its fluff thanks to the constant care Jessikal gave it. Naturally every Ariem had extensive amount of products in their hair to keep it in pristine conditions. Though the other compliments seemingly went over the poor Senator's head. What does she mean I give protocol shapely silhouette?

"Thank you Senator Vonn. You certainly also know how to arrive in style as well. A perfect outfit for the beach."Jessikal replied with the smile. "Oh I don't think you're interrupting anything, so you're welcome to join us."

But as Jessikal turned to Thilarii, only to be told that he had some things to attend to. "Oh, be well Captain. We shall discuss details on the refugee plan another time. Do not be afraid to reach out to me."

As she watched Thilarii walk away, she refocused back on the Zeltron lady with her. "Looks like it will just be us Senator Vonn. I do agree with you that is good for our citizens to see us relax. To see us more openly rather than in the halls of the Senate."

Jessikal grabbed another fruit smoothie off a tray from one of thee 44th Ariem volunteers "Would you like one, Senator? The Ariem can make a great fruit smoothie."

Velyra accepted the invitation with the slow, sinuous grace of a dancer taking her mark. One leg folded beneath her, the other stretched toward the sun, as she lowered herself onto the shaded lounge with a sigh just soft enough to be heard.

Her drink—still glistening—rested beside her untouched.

"Mmm, you flatter me. Though it’s hardly fair," she said, adjusting the brim of her sunhat just-so. "I’ve always believed a beach outfit should inspire a little debate... or at least a few raised heart rates."

There was amusement there – wicked, but good natured. She tilted her head slightly as the Ariem officer offered her the smoothie. A smile touched her lips, just shy of indulgent.

"If it comes recommended by a fellow Senator, how could I refuse?"

She accepted the glass without hesitation, letting her fingers brush lightly against Jessikal’s. The first sip was followed by a soft, thoughtful hum. Then, a nod.

"Delicious. Your people have a gift." A pause, then she glanced sidelong. "And not just in haircare, apparently."

Her gaze wandered the beach again, as if taking stock of the Alliance’s soul by the shape of its sunbathers.

"Jessikal—may I call you that?—do you find yourself often among the people like this?"

She did not ask out of idle curiosity. There was something soft in the phrasing, almost wistful beneath the cadence of her voice.

"It’s rare to find someone in our line of work who remembers how to be seen without armor. Or caution. Or the right post-event headlines waiting in the Holonews."

Another sip. The breeze caught her coral sash and rippled over the sand.

"We should make a habit of this."

Jessikal looked to the various patrons along the beach, as she sipped her smoothie with Senator Vonn. Her eyes looked at the other members of the 44th busy mingling with each other but also with many other Alliance members. She gave a small chuckle at Velyra's statement about beach outfits. "Oh I am sure you have raised many heartbeats since your arrival, Senator Vonn. I do not think there is many that can resist a Zeltron's charm." Jessikal smiled as she continued to look out to the beach.

She pondered the question that Velyra's asked. How often did she spend time with the citizens of the Alliance like this? "I can't give you a definite number, Senator Vonn. Nor am I going to try and falsify an assumption of how many times I have done this. But I do what I can outside of the Senate. The 44th also help me in that endeavor, alot of time is spent in military hospitals. Helping the wounded. Other times, I return to Hosnian Prime. Speak with my people. But I'd like to think every Senator returns to their world to speak with their people. I am not opposed to doing more of this though. It is nice to see people being happy."
