Public [GA/NJO Only] Meditation Is The Key To Understanding Oneself... Or So Father Said

Tentative Connection to the Light

Close Your Eyes, Be One With The Force

OPEN to NJO: 1/3 slots taken
Quiet, serene, relaxing - that was Tython. The planet where the Jedi Temple has sat on for millennia. Now being rebuilt, a long and arduous process, as the first waves of new students arrive and help with the restoration efforts between lessons.

Among them is Kael Daikan - a rather fresh recruit to the New Jedi Order, only having been with them for a couple of weeks or so. Having immediately jumped to helping with the restoration effort, he immediately gained some measure of small respect from his fellow students and hopefully, some of the Knights and Masters present as well. His attempts at using Telekinesis were far from the best, but he did not let his shortcomings keep him from earnestly attempting as much as it took to see the job done.

With the Temple restoration shifts cycled to the next batch of willing students to offer their skills, Kael had retreated to a plot of trees and foliage near the Temple itself, Perhaps here, he thought to himself, he could commune more with the Force by meditating. He had tried this in many places - inside quiet rooms, in his bedroom, even in some stressful situations. But he couldn't tell if it was actually helping him understand or connect with it any more than he already did. If nothing else, having some time inside his own head left him much room to ponder over things. Not just the past events, of his father's mysterious disappearance, or presumed death - but more recent events as well.

He closed his eyes, and attempted to commune with the Force - slowly blocking out the world around him. It wasn't perfect, of course - any amount of danger sense Kael had made it where he could not quite fully silence everything in confidence - but it made do. Calmness slowly spread around his body, and he began to meditate. 'Meditation is the key to understanding oneself and their connection to the force," his father always said. But Kael never learned the meaning behind it - nor whether he was doing it right to begin with. So all he could do was try...

The man did not have a large pool of Force flowing through him, but it was also not hard to notice a lone Padawan meditating just outside the Temple. And such a new Padawan, at that. Though he had his senses sharp for any potential dangers coming his way, he would not turn away someone approaching to talk to him.

Tython. Reina still wasn't a fan of the planet, no matter what history it might have held for the Jedi. She was never a fan of mud nor trees. It was somewhat rich then for her that she preferred the tall cityscapes of Coruscant and Fondor to Tython. She could feel the wind against her back so much easier atop those buildings compared to the trees where the gusts would slither and sneak their way through instead. It was just strange to be honest to herself. Maybe when she was more experienced, she could work on getting a semi-aquatic Temple built.

The new arrival of recruits to the planet didn't help either. More strangers coming to stomp all over the place. Maybe she'd get used to it, maybe she'd look for whatever excuse she could to get off world. There was just a lot on her mind with these kinds of situations. Maybe if she took more time to meditate, she would be able to relax more. It was a shame that she had to be in the right headspace for meditation however. Reina knew she could do it, she had done it in the past, felt the connection to the Spirit...but today was not one of those days for her.

So for now, she wandered through the jungles of Tython, holding her hand out to feel the breeze of the wind against her skin. It was starting to get to the point that she had to head back to the Temple and so she slowly began to make her journey there, careful not to get her leg stuck in any roots. Whilst she was far more fond of the Anchor she had made for herself, it still needed some getting used to. Of course it did, it was a metal leg. It wasn't like the flesh and blood she was used to, but sadly for her, she was starting to get used to the idea of not having that leg anymore.

Yet as she started to get back to the Temple, Reina stopped for a moment and blinked at the sight of someone just...stood outside the Temple Meditating. Surely it would have been better or safer to do in the Temple but then again it was rich for Reina to be talking about something safe. She just shrugged her shoulders and made her way over towards the steps, folding her arms along her front.

"...You know it'd probably be easier to meditate in the Temple, right? They probably have some crystals that can help you out."

Or Get Knocked Out Of It Because You Stand Out Too Much, I Guess

He probably should have been actually sitting down in a more comfortable position, too, but here Kael was, standing in the middle of two trees, just outside the steps to the Temple itself, and here's a girl he'd never met before. Her words startle him out of his meditation, and his eyes open back up as he looked over to her. He'd seen plenty of faces pass after and since arriving to the Temple - but all of them were unfamiliar to him. Including this one. Whether he'd seen her face before now, he wouldn't be able to say - but she was the first to talk to him since his restoration shift.

"I know, it probably would be - it's just easier for me to try to do it away from everything. But I'm still not feeling it here..."

Which was the end result of most meditations he attempted, frankly. His senses now having returned to him, he could again feel Tython's breeze brush past him, and the various sounds of flora and fauna beyond them. And yet, it didn't make him feel any better about his failure to commune.

"I guess next time I'll have to see if the crystals can help."

Letting out a short sigh, he tilted his head back and forth a bit, stretching his neck to keep from stiffening after that attempted meditation session, before refocusing his attention on her.

"Have you not tried to meditate in the Temple?"

"Eh. It's different for everyone. Some people feel it in nature, some people feel it around people. Some people have to actually be doing something. It's not one style fits all"

Reina shrugged her shoulders at that. She always found meditation to be easier when she actually had to do something. When she had to focus on a mission. It was harder when she was just...relaxed. It had to have a purpose to it, not just meditating to connect to the Force. It was why she was grateful for her lightsaber, when she had it out, she knew it was the perfect time for her to try and connect to the Spirit. She shook her head however to focus on the stranger.

"Nah. Temple's not really my kind of place. Doesn't feel right. It's too...static. Too pure for me. I know it doesn't make sense. This is meant to be like the home of the Jedi! But....it just doesn't feel like home to me."

And it was true. Whilst this might be the new main base for the New Jedi Order, Reina was never going to feel at home. It took her long enough to get used to Coruscant. Plus with the battle they had against the Drengir when the Alliance had reclaimed Tython...There were more bad memories associated with the planet than good for her.

"Oh. Introductions. I'm Reina."

Valery had been walking the Temple grounds in quiet reflection, her path weaving through the outer gardens and forest edges as the wind whispered gently through the trees. Tython had a way of stirring old memories — and newer ones still settling into place. She wasn't searching for anyone in particular, just walking where the Force led her.

That path brought her to a small clearing just off the main trail. Two figures stood there in quiet conversation — young, thoughtful, both clearly students of the Order. One she recognized from a recent roster update — Kael, the newer arrival. The other, Reina, older and more familiar to her.

She slowed her approach.

The conversation wasn't heated, but it was… real. Honest. The kind that Jedi didn't always get to have in the middle of warzones or missions. It made her smile — faint, thoughtful, the kind of expression that softened the sharp lines of her usual focus.

But she didn't speak.

Instead, Valery paused near the edge of the clearing, just far enough not to intrude, her hands folded loosely before her. She let the moment breathe. Let them speak without interruption. Not as Grandmaster. Not as a leader. Just as someone quietly present — a silent witness, giving space where it was needed most.
