- The open market variant comes with a DIY instruction manual for installation. This is ideal for low quantity applications where the client wishes to experiment or only fulfil niche needs. Otherwise, for mass production output, this package can be installed by Dornean provided production facilities.
- The Kaleidoscopic Polymer coating and compact ECM asset spoofing module makes missiles difficult to track with sensors or targeting systems. This is partly meant to reduce the efficacy of point-defence weapons.
- The XM-15 guidance package and modernized Computerized Combat Predictor software makes missiles a challenge to outfly or outmaneuver by skilled pilots. The XM-15 CPU is also much smarter than most advanced MDT countermeasures.
- The faraday cage components help to prevent EMP attacks from blanket-countering missiles.
- The Sensor Net Components are O.S.I.V.P. enhanced to make integrated missiles hard to fool through jamming, interference, or countermeasures. This is achieved through a network of Comm lasers with boosters to securely share sensor data between missiles.
- Nuh-uh, I countered your countermeasure! — The whole point of this upgrade package is to make missiles a lot more resistant to anti-missile countermeasures.
- Convenient — any kind of missile, from shoulder-fired, to capital-class cruise missiles can be augmented with the DIY kit.
- You Are A Psychopath! — the XM-15 CPU is sentient… meaning it HAS FEELINGS! How DARE you use these things as munitions!? I mean… it actually enjoys blowing up… but you are still a MONSTER!
- Where's the kaboom!? — this upgrade package does absolutely nothing to augment or modify damage output.
After the incident when Dammant Killers sold the Bug Spray Missiles on the open market, Dorneans did their best to get the errant missile company to fall in line. Negotiations fell through. Pathetic sanctions proved toothless. Threats were empty.
Then, some Dorneans engineers with market savvy attempted to build a product to disrupt Dammant Killers' market share. So they took some of the technologies that they learned from the Bug Spray Missiles—added a couple things—and then released a specialized upgrade kit into the open market.
The upgrade kit turned a lot of heads in the wider galaxy. It was basically a set of tailored components and instructions that the client could implement in limited quantities on their own. The kits can be easily tailored for any type of missile or torpedo with a mechanical composition. All the client has to do is send Braha'ket Fleetworks some specs, and the kit will be delivered with the right size components as required. In this case, the client is responsible for their own installation, with the aid of carefully tailored instructions.
This arrangement often leads to a demand for larger purchase orders, however. In the case where a client would want to make mass production munitions with these upgrades, special arrangements would need to be implemented. In this case, a contract may be negotiated where Dornean technicians come into the client's production facility and installs the appropriate equipment. Production-grade installation machinery is integrated into the missile manufacturing process for high output production. But for this particular service, a proper contract is needed to prevent the same abuse that Dammant Killers inflicted on the Dorneans.
Dammant Killers eventually caught wind of this product and naturally protested. The upgrade kit basically allowed clients to go to bypass their products on the market and buy cheaper variants to be upgraded for a lower cost. However, when the Dorneans threw the whole Bug Spray Missiles incident in their faces, the Adumari missile company just got more stubborn. A resolution has yet to be made on the subject.
