Fur, Scales, and Tails (Yuuthayn)

Hijinks

Cheshire Shi'ido
The second Jink had pulled Yuuthayn onto the platform, she'd grabbed onto him really tightly. Now, while he didn't mind it, it was a little bit disconcerting. Trying to fly as quickly as he could over the gap between the building they were on and what looked like the nearest mall area, he wrapped his fluffy scarf around her head so she couldn't see, even if she opened her eyes. When they were back over solid pavement, he slowly dropped them both to the ground.
"Does the flying really bother you that much? I mean, it usually just feels like walking to me. I don't know how most sane people react to it."
Even though it felt a little bit awkward, Jink squeezed Yuuthayn's arm.
"You're totally safe. We're on the ground, and I'd still be here if we weren't."

It took me a moment to realize that I'd stopped breathing. I took a few deep breaths before cautiously opening my eyes. I peeled myself away from Jink and looked around at where he'd brought us.
"A mall? Oh no. Don't tell me you're going shopping..."
I never had need of clothing, and I didn't typically buy anything from malls. But that boa Jink was wearing told me he was familiar with this kind of setting.

"What? No, not at all... Why- Oh."
They'd landed in a mall. Jink had only sort of half-noticed while he was trying to keep Yuuthayn calm, as he'd just been trying to get to the nearest anything. At least the mall had food, and the purple cat-man was getting hungry. He could smell food, and it was making his mouth water. He felt his tail wagging as he looked around to see where the smell was coming from.
"I change my clothes whenever I want. I was just looking for something that looked like we could rest in it. And get food. I'm starving."

"Fine. We'll eat. But then we're going our separate ways, got it? NO MORE FLYING."
I spoke in a very authoritative tone. No way was Jink getting me beck in the sky three times in a row. NO WAY. I looked around until I spotted a McJabba's. Cheap, and filling. That would work. I started walking in that direction.
((OOC: I had to say it again. I HAD TO! :p))

"I'd say 'your loss', but it won't make a difference. Well, except... Your loss! Mrrow."
Jink flipped through the air and laid on his back in the air as he flew next to Yuuthayn and winked at her. He made a sort of backstroking motion as they neared the restaurant and wagged his tail happily.
"Eating chicken makes me feel like some kind of apex predator. Rawr."
((Yes, yes, I know. Indulge yourself. :p))

I did a massive eye-roll, smirking at Jink with his air-swimming. I walked up to the counter and ordered a couple of Bantha burgers, handing one to the floating cat-man. I then went and at down at one of the tables.
"Let me guess. You like to eat while floating, too."

Jink shook his head as he dropped into the seat next to Yuuthayn, grinning his Cheshire Cat grin. He opened the burger and took a few bites before he put it down and smiled a bit more warmly.
"Nah. Flying while I eat feels strange. Like swimming when you just ate. Kind of achey, I guess."
His tail wagged as he munched the rest of the burger and leaned his head on a hand to look at the Shi'ido woman.
"No point in asking what you find so strange about my staying in one form, is there?"

"I will admit, I'll never quite understand it. But I'm not going to press the subject."
I finished my burger and looked back at the cat-man. I was sure that someday I'd see him change. Even if it was just a little bit. But, it wasn't today. I looked at my reflection on the napkin dispenser. Ew... brown eyes. I shifted them to green, and then to a blue-violet. There. Much better.

Jink smiled as he finished the last couple of bites of his burger and wagged his tail. He thought of a different form he could take... something that didn't require too much of a change from his normal one. He shifted into the one he decided on and grinned a little bit evily.
"Oh, I change... But being a feline is wonderful. And I notice a slight personality shift when I change too farrrrrrrr."
Still transformed, Jink reached out and ran a finger down Yuuthayn's cheek, purring. And then he suddenly blinked and melted back into his normal form.
"Okay, possibly including some of my self-control. That felt strange."

I just sat there a few minutes after what just happened. I cocked a brow at Jink.
"Well. That was.... interesting."
When I took another form, I just acted out the personality. I didn't literally change with the rest of my form. I smirked.
"So, who was that guy? When do you ever use him?"

Jink smiled at Yuuthayn, both embarrassed and a little bit interested by his behavior in his other form.
"I've never really used it except when I just couldn't get my normal emotions running high enough to properly kill somebody. I haven't had enough contact with even relatively friendly people in a while to see what happens when I use him in a normal setting."
He finally shrugged and bit a nail reflectively.
"I don't think it's my subconscious... Because I don't normally go around doing that to women, whether I like them or not."

So, I was the special one, huh? I guess I could deal with that. I stood up from my seat and looked around for a moment. No one was watching. Great. I quickly shifted into the form of a female Zeltron with long purple hair and dreamy pink eyes.
"Why don't we walk around a bit? Not to buy stuff, but just to hang out a little?"

Jink smiled at Yuuthayn's suggestion of taking a walk, shifting into a purple sport coat as she watched. It was a wonderful color of purple, just dark enough to clash with his hair. Excellent. He took a small bow towards the now pink-skinned Shi'ido and smiled a bit more warmly.
"Of course I'd like to go for a walk... Possibly figuratively speaking."
He stood up and wagged his tail as he looked at his new friend. The purple cat didn't quite understand why Yuuthayn kept on switching forms in the last few minutes. Just to impress him, maybe?
"Well, take me a-wondering, Lady Blue."

We wandered around the various stores for awhile, making private jokes about the people inside them and musing as to how you could use some of the items being sold. I actually had more fun than I thought I would. Jink was a really cool guy to be with. And, the more I thought about it, the more I realized just how handsome he actually was.
We were sitting outside a J.C. Sempra's when I decided to change the conversation a little.
"You know, Jink, It kind of surprises me that you haven't mentioned a girlfriend or something this whole time. I thought for sure you of all people had someone in mind."

"I did, once... Except now she's married and has kids. I disappeared for a very long time, and that's what happens, I guess. Most people aren't long-lived enough to wait."
Jink shrugged sort of noncommittally. Carliah and him hadn't really worked out, with Yusan suddenly appearing, dying, coming back as a ghost, and then being resurrected. And the guy hadn't even bothered to talk to him ever. So, the purple cat had sort of slowly drifted away until the day he'd died. He sighed heavily and shook himself a little. He'd been enjoying himself. No reason to ruin that.
"What about you? I don't believe for a second that nobody out there wanted you."

I chuckled as the question was redirected to me.
"Many, many men. And even some women. But that's what happens when you can make your body into the object of anyone's desire. Everybody wants you. I won't lie, I've had several one-night-stands. But that's the extent of my relationships with most people, I'm afraid."
When you spend your life hunting bounties or collecting intel and assassinating politicians while all the while you're running from your control-freak parents and the agency they work for, you can't afford to have anything tying you down. If I'd let any of them get further than that one night, I wouldn't be sitting her with Jink of my own free will anymore.
"I can't afford to keep people..."

Jink shrugged, smiling to himself a tiny bit.
"You can afford to keep people. You just think that they'd either run away or let you die. Or both."
He felt his tail twitch towards Yuuthayn slightly and looked at her thoughtfully. Trying to figure people's minds out was his favorite thing ever. Trying to sift through the mind of another Shi'ido was even more so. He tapped her on the shoulder with a finger.
"You also know that, besides violent death or depression, Shi'ido are functionally immortal. Subconsciously, you probably push anybody away who's guaranteed to have a shorter lifespan than you. I didn't have that problem, mostly because my ex was apprenticed to a Sith witch who could take care of that kind of thing, and I live in a freaky Force Nexus castle full of ghosts."
Jink grinned a little bit jokingly.
"And while you're chewing on that, I'm also five hundred years old and I have the maturity level of a sugar-addicted teenager."

An interesting deduction. Some of it was a bit off, but it was mostly accurate. However, the last thing Jink said made me raise my eyebrows.
"Oh really? Is that your indirect approach at proclaiming that you're available?"
I said jokingly, smirking at him.

Jink grinned back easily, waving his tail around. Okay, so maybe all his deduction-ing of her feelings had an ulterior motive. But, so what? Yuuthayn was the first Shi'ido he'd met who wasn't either a serene nerf herder or so colossally frakked up that they were addicted to drugs.
"If it matters to you at all, I'm very available. I even recall saying so, earlier. Obfuscation is just so much fun, though."

I shifted so that I was leaning on the bench's arm rest and placed my hand on my chin in a quizzical manner, studying Jink with a sideways look. I crossed my legs to complete the look.
"Hmmmm.... You make a very persuasive case. But how do I know that you're like this in private? I mean, for all I know, you could be a complete psychopath outside of the public eye..."
I waggled my eyebrows to signify I was joking. It was my little way of telling him that I was interested.
