Bombshell Genius
Treason? That was ridiculous. She had to keep calm even though the audience got a glimpse of the Confederate mascot. She was a mascot all right, but to the Confederacy mascots were simply factional representatives, and had to symbolize the faction's ideals and principles in actions. Unlike most entities with mascots, for whom mascots were simply figureheads that had no specifications pertaining to how they needed to symbolize the entity's ideals other than figuratively.
"Even though it pains me to say so, this meeting was organized at Joost's behest. He thought he found a weakness in the contingency plans, as to what would happen according to the protocol in effect if the Supreme Commander was to be declared unfit to hold the office, and he wanted to refine the protocol. But we found out that there was missing information, and we couldn't carry out what Joost thought was the revised protocol, when new information surfaced. There has been no such official declaration of unfitness, and Joost's revised protocol contained a caveat: he made it so that an approval of the revised protocol was the same as officially declaring the Supreme Commander unfit for office, and the revised protocol was shelved for the time being. Planning for emergencies is not the same as treason: it would allow for the CIS to be prepared in such eventualities, and allow for its survival"
