Full of Actual Fire

Joza clutched the hood of her parka closer to her head, cringing as an unwelcome blast of wind buffed her in the face. The Zeltron was not particularly fond of extreme weather on either end of the spectrum, but if she had to choose she’d pick a ball of ice over a humid jungle planet any day. The environment here was similar to that of Ilum, where she had good memories of collecting crystals and meeting a force sensitive Whipid with her Master. On the other hand, she’d quite literally lost her hand on Felucia to a Sith and watched her companion nearly die, so tropical weather didn’t bring out the best in her. And it made her hair frizzy.

As much as she disliked how the cold air gave her dry skin, Joza pressed onwards. The Knight was meeting a Jedi Master by the name of [member="Saki"] who had mastered the art of elemental shaping, and Joza sought to learn from her. She only knew of one other Jedi who could wield the elements, but she hadn’t seen Jericho since her days as an apprentice.

Feeling a powerful presence enter the area, she looked up and squinted against the snow that the wind kicked up. Thankfully she hadn’t arrived during a snowstorm, so hopefully the calmer weather would make things easier.

Mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine mine.... Saki kept it going while she was looking over some of the things fighting with them. The hardlight holograms working some of the things as the jedi master slammed her fist into the ground smashing it and disrupting the ones around her. "Mine." The one below her kind of gone before she was moving with attention over some of the things. "Master Saki there is a message for you." She stood up in the temple as the holographic suite they were in got a few looks from the tech. "Oh alright." She stood up moving over to look at him as there were some broken parts of the things.

"Okay, lets see... a jedi wants some training." She smirked while sending where to go and here on Rhen var you could do a lot as the jedi master moved walking outside and standing with her arms out. She could feel the wind but thanks to the tapas and that inner fire she really couldn't feel it. The circlet and sigil she had allowed her to have a nice amount of energy to build up. She adjusted the straps of the gear and her kama for the backs of her legs in the armored pants. Her boots making the ice and snow crunch underfoot while she touched her saber and staff on her belt lifting into the air a bit and flying up to head back to the main temple. The one that Matsu had constructed for training was quite nice.

However it was no jedi temple when she was flying towards it with the rich veins of crystals underneath them, solari and force crystal all over when she arrived to wait. Just sitting down and focusing her force energies until she felt the jedi arrive. Rising up while she walked to go and meet Joza standing there with her arms crossed as the jedi master crossed her arms over the straps and her chest hovering off the ground a little. She had some other training to compliment all of the things she knew and what better way to lob fireballs then when you were flying and grabbing speeders to throw around. "Welcome to Rhen Var, hope it isn't to bad."

The first thing Joza noticed about Saki was that she was floating from the ground by several inches. Lowering her hood, Joza looked over the other woman and noted how her arms were crossed against her chest. “Thank you, Master Saki.” She began, using her formal title and offer a small makeshift bow. She didn’t know if Saki was one for formalities, but erred on the side of caution. She knew Masters who preferred to be addressed as such, and others who just liked to use their names.

“I’ve heard of your elemental mastery, and I’ve come to request training in shaping. My name is Joza Perl.” Her voice was even yet held notes of caution, unsure of what to make of the situation as she didn’t know what sort of person Saki was yet. Her dominant hand brushed against the warm material of her cloak, but she could not feel it due to the lack of nerves in her prosthetic arm. It was new, and something she was still getting used to. She was looking down at her for a moment before coming down and standing there for a moment. The teenage master who well wasn't exactly the best but she knew how to punch things really hard and if that didn't work you punched it again harder with fire around your fist. "Ah I see." Watching her for a moment as she stayed there for a moment watching it. "Well the first step of training anything requires you to be dressed for it so hopefully you got one of those circlets for the jedi. It will let you resist the cold here so you don't accidentally set your jacket on fire." She had seen a couple others do that and it wasn't pretty while standing there ready. "The second thing will be what training do you have with the elements that will make this possible?"

Joza listened intently to Saki as she spoke, her mind nearly wandering when it dawned upon her how young she looked. Younger than Joza even, but not by much. Still, she elected not to comment on that. Joza was barely out of her teens herself, and with her makeup off as it was now, she looked younger than she actually was. “I’m good in the circlet department.” She nodded, remembering to bring upon the piece of jewelry she’d gotten as a Padawan during their trip to a tropical planet. At the mention of any previous training with the elements, Joza paused. “I can do a bit of air manipulation and alter environment, but that’s about it. I’m here to expand my skills in anything you’d be willing to teach, Master.”

Alright then she could work with that a little air shaping was easy to get behind while she gave a small nod of her head backing up a little and grinning. One hand coming out while she focused then the other as the wind shifted and collected into a ball. Air shaping was easier when you had an idea of the rotation and movements of the air... then it was easier to manipulate while she cleared some of the sky for them to not have it going across their faces. "Well then we will be able to start but this is not something that is easy. Shaping the elements taps into something that is very raw and can get strong emotions from you. It is why shapers are generally considered darkside despite most of the ones I have met being more neutral. It is not an easy skill to learn as each element has its own style and flare within it."

Joza listened to Saki as she removed her coat and retrieved the circlet before putting it on. The coat was more to keep the wind out of her delicate face for now, as much as she hated it. But Joza needed to toughen up when it came to the natural elements anyway, especially if she sought to wield them. The pink woman watched in fascination as Saki conjured a sphere of air in the palm of her hand. She shook her head lightly. “I can’t imagine that it would be easy. I’m only able to push and pull the air, almost like using the Force except…with air, I guess.” She shrugged at her own shoddy explanation, hoping that the other woman would understand. At the bit about emotions, the Zeltron tensed. She had grown better at handling her own emotions, but had…dramatic tendencies. “Alright, fair warning about the emotions then.” She nodded in affirmation, holding out her own hand and trying to grasp at the breeze but only succeeded in causing a gentle puff of wind against her hand.

Saki moved looking at her while she had a small look on her face. She was looking over it while moving a little before she turned some of her attention. "Well air is passive, it is not there and you are trying to use the two elements that are very different." She was waoting for a time though and walked to adjust the zeltrons footing and stance. "With air you are always moving, rotating, building up your speed and momentum. Making small gusts of air while you circle your goal. This movement creates the power and focuses it for you allowing the shaper to feel it. With earth shaping you are rigid, steadfast and ground." She pushed quickly to go for the jostling and knock her down." You take what is coming at you and can return it ten fold. Now show me your stance."

Joza watched Saki carefully as the ball of air dissipated from her hands and she moved to fix her footing. The Zeltron was only familiar with stances that involved saber forms or force abilities, but it seemed that elemental shaping was a different beast all together.

“Oof!” Joza would stumble as she was shoved, losing her footing and ultimately ending up on her butt. It had been a while since she’d been knocked around like a ragdoll, not since she’d been an apprentice… a particular training session with Jericho came to mind.

“Alright…” A line of determination set her face and she quickly rose to her feet. Joza was less fragile now than when she was a Padawan, but there was a lot that she still needed to learn. Assuming what she could remember of the corrected stance, Joza tried to fall in to place. Reaching a hand out, she would generate a small breeze, moving her hand around to the side as she gathered momentum. The breeze slowly turned into a rotating gust before dispelling as she stopped moving. “Huh…” The whole staying in motion thing started to make more sense to her now.

She was watching and staying with her Saki moved around as her hands were out in front of her. One hand out to touch forward while the other was halfway out. As Joza moved with her hands to make it Saki moved sifting her footing. "This style is called circle walking, rotate your body, rotate your position." She was demonstrating it, moving around Joza but staying in a rotating motion herself in different ways to not make patterns to stay there while her hands were out to keep the distance but also when she moved to be behind Joza she could use her shoulders. Whichever way they would go she could go the opposite to stay behind her. "You work to stay behind your opponent always building power to your energy."

Joza shifted her position to go along with Saki’s corrections, watching the Jedi Master with curious eyes as she moved around her. She was familiar with circling and opponent and being circled herself, though it kicked up unpleasant memories. Steading herself, Joza smothered the flicker of irritation in her chest and allowed herself to remain in the present. Now moving her focus back onto her teacher, Joza took note of how Saki was constantly in motion, never letting her body or energy stagnate.

When the Master moved behind her shoulders, Joza spun around as if on instinct. Still, the Zeltron kept her footing in a wider stance as she’d been instructed, extending one hand and bending the other at the elbow. It took a few awkward steps, but she started to mimic Saki’s circle walking as if she were on the opposite side of the circle. “If you stop moving, you lose power, right?”

"When you stop moving you will lose what energy and speed you have built up yes.. but also no. THe better you get at feeling and channeling the air to shape it the more natural it will feel and you'll be able to use it from a stand still to move you into motion." She kept at it letting the force energies with a small nod and bow before she started rotating her hands to shape the air into a ball of energy that her hands were moving around to contain the parts that were lashing out. "Then with the energy you bring it to your hands and create it with a rotating orb to direct where you want it to go. Or you can wrap it around yourself and move around in an acrobatic fashion... but given we are jedi that is already an easy enough feat. I use it to suspend myself in the air and fly around where I am needed and then lobe fire balls for aerial attacks."

“That quick, huh?” Joza wondered how much work it would take to gather the strength of the air without working up to it. Curiously, she observed Sake rotate the air in the palm of her hand, shaping it into a ball. With a determined face, the Zeltron attempted to grasp onto the gentle currents buffeting against her body from her own movement, calling them into her hand as she worked to maintain control over them with fluid rotations of her hands. Gradually, she’d be able to shape a sphere of air in her hands, grinning as it formed in front of her. It took a lot of concentration for her to maintain it, her brows furrowing as her face hardens. “So can you like…fly?” She asked, distracted by keeping the ball of air alive.

"Yes." Saki was looking at her and rose back up into the air while she was hanging there and moved around while hovering. "It is a simple thing but something you need to concentrate on. Something that you can maintain under conditions and use whenever you need it." She brought the air to her hands and created two sphere coming back down. "With the air you'll always be able to feel it and generate it under most conditions, the only real trick will be building up your stamina so you can really use it instead of some who just last for a few moments and attacks with heavy hits." Not unlike her but well she knew how to work some of the things. Stamina was one of the most important traits to have if you wanted to shape or be a jedi in general.

Joza risked a glance upward as she concentrated on maintaining the tight vortex of wind in her hands, watching as Saki rose up into the air seemingly effortlessly. “Simple as in wrapping the air around you and manipulating it to carry your body, huh?” She ventured, letting the ball of air die in favor of gripping the air currents around her and trying to move them around her body. Her feet would lift off the ground a little bit, but quickly touch back down as she exhaled heavily. “Do you use the air to try and manipulate your opponents in battle? Not like, uh, controlling their bodies or anything.” She clarified as she cleared her throat. “I mean like, using air to bat a weapon away or to try to pull them towards you in a vortex or something.”

"You can try but it is not always easy, any half decent fighter can keep their grip with some air pulling at them. If you want to disarm people with shaping you use earth or fire. Upset their footing so they drop it or focus on the weapon and make it to hot for them to hold onto." Water she knew could work with some of the things to well freeze the moisture in the air and on their limbs to surprise and slow them down. Or lash out and smack someone down. "We have many things we can work on but it is a challenge to learn one element, learning two like you wish to do.. not impossible but it is harder. Learnign all of them eventually is something all shapers can do. I just got lucky to learn with a master in the jedi order."

“So the air is more to help yourself than to strike at your opponent with.” Joza nodded in understanding, her mind trying to conjure up ways to use it. Giving yourself near-flight powers a Saki had demonstrated, whirlwinds, even manipulating the air inside an enemy’s lungs…yeah, maybe not that. A little ruthless, but still interesting. “I’m pretty diligent when it comes to practicing techniques that I like. But shaping an element itself is a whole different game than swinging a saber, so I’m sure that I’ve got my work cut out for me.” Joza chuckled, offering a lopsided grin. “Wait, really? Who taught you? I don’t know many Jedi shapers. Only Jericho Hex and now you.” She paused, looking up in thought for a moment. “Unless it’s more common than I think?”

"I learned from Samara." She had made a look at some of the things while she was moving and stood there. "She taught me shaping the elements and how to ride very large creatures." She had some fo the harder works they could do while crossing her arms over her chest with a small nod of her head. "Jericho is a good one also but there are a couple others who knew how to shape. We even used to have a holocron before the vaults were cleared out by Kiskla way back. It exxplained shaping and the level of control you needed to be able to work with it." She didn't know where it had gone now or who had it but they might be able to recover it if she made her own holocron eventually for the order. Someone will be able to use it.

“Samara? Can’t say that I’ve heard of her.” Joza furrowed her brow in thought. While she may have heard the name in passing, ultimately she couldn’t bring anyone distinct to mind. “Do you think that shaping should be taught to all Jedi?” The Zeltron concentrated on another ball of hair as it rotated in her hands, moving it around as well as she could manage. “What’s your favorite element, anyhow? I think…maybe fire?” She asked a bit cheekily, wondering if an element with so many applications would be her preferred one.

Saki looked at her and she wasn't certain if Joza would have known Samara that woman was there when she was a younger teenager in the order roaming around as she spoke. "It can be if done correctly same with many things. Some just teach things because they think it is cool and some want to learn only the rarest techniques." Though the next question about her favorite element was a practical one but really you had to work with it and think about it. All of them presented their own benefits and drawbacks from needing the elements present to just how you can use them without giving into the darkness. "Earth shaping is a useful talent to have to being in a fight, it works well with Djem so techniques for standing at your ground. Same way ateru techniques can work with fire shaping."
