Functioning off the same basic principles as a Lightsaber, the Frostsaber utilizes most of the same parts. The Emitter, handle, power cell, and other miscellaneous items. The main differences are the thermal insulation, the plas-bonded ostrine canister, and the super-cooled compressed helium gas. The gas is nearly two hundred sixty degrees below zero, causing flesh to freeze on contact rather than burn or melt. Metal is cooled so quickly all but the strongest or densest armors fracture and break from heavy blows and sustained contact, and even heavy metals can become brittle when exposed to the blade for prolonged periods of time.
Where it lacks is cutting power. As in it doesn't have any. It doesn't cut anything. It freezes things, causing them to become brittle and solid, which still causes irrepreable tissue damage without transplant or replacement, just like a lightsaber, but you aren't going to be slicing anyone in half. The true power of this weapon comes with knowledge of thermodynamics. If a metal is super-cooled, then rapidly super-heated what does it do? Fracture or shatter is the answer kids. That is the true power of this weapon. When used in conjunction with a traditional lightsaber it has the capability to make a mockery of heavy armor. The Color of the blade is controlled by a simple LED Light, cause its just super-cooled gases.

- Cold: Rather than melting things, the frost saber freezes them. This is an advantage and a disadvantage. First, contact with such a cold surface still does tissue damage, and prolonged contact can destroy appendages, it can also make metals brittle and weak, fracturing them and making them susceptible to shattering from kinetic damage
- No Cutting: It doesn't cut things, at all.
- Lightsaber Like: It can deflect blaster bolts, block other lightsabers, and its blade is practically weightless, just like a normal lightsaber
