GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Tradition Name: Frontier Wardens
  • Tradition Type: Wandering, Decentralized, Warrior
  • Tradition Focus: Physical, Spiritual, Sensory
  • Influence: Minor
  • Orientation: Light
  • Influence Area: Almania and surrounding frontier regions of the Mid Rim and Outer Rim.
  • Symbol: A vertical blade framed by two stylized wings. The blade represents duty and protection. The wings represent freedom and self-determination. Together they symbolize the Warden ideal of protecting others without ruling them.
  • Description: The Frontier Wardens are a small fellowship of Light Side Force users headquartered on Almania. Unlike the Jedi Orders of the past, the Wardens reject political authority, military command structures, and centralized control. They believe the Force is best used in service to ordinary people living beyond the reach of governments and institutions.

Wardens act as protectors, mediators, scouts, rescue workers, investigators, and peacekeepers throughout isolated settlements and frontier worlds. While they acknowledge the wisdom of historical Jedi teachings, they do not consider themselves Jedi and maintain their own traditions, customs, and philosophy.

The organization intentionally remains small. Wardens value independence, personal responsibility, and service over expansion or influence.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Membership: Membership is voluntary and open to Force-sensitive individuals willing to uphold the Warden Oath. Prospective members typically spend several years as Seekers under the guidance of an experienced Warden before being formally sworn in during a Deputization Ceremony at Stonewatch Hold.

Wardens recruit cautiously and prioritize character, compassion, and good judgment over raw Force potential.

Membership is not restricted by species, background, social status, or previous affiliation. Former Jedi, independent Force users, settlers, explorers, and even redeemed former criminals have found homes among the Wardens.
  • Motives: The Frontier Wardens exist to protect those who have been forgotten by larger powers. They seek to bring stability, justice, and hope to isolated communities while preserving individual freedom and self-determination.

Their goal is not to govern worlds or shape galactic politics. Their purpose is simply to stand between the vulnerable and those who would exploit them.
  • Rules and Teachings:
    Core Principles:
    • Stand Between
    • Serve the Frontier
    • Carry Little
    • Draw Last
    • No Chains
    • The Frontier Decides
    • Leave the Gate Open
    Wardens believe:
    • Power exists to serve others.
    • Violence should be a last resort.
    • Personal attachments are natural and healthy.
    • Communities must determine their own futures.
    • Redemption should remain possible whenever practical.
    • No individual should be owned, enslaved, or oppressed.
Unlike many Jedi traditions, Wardens do not require emotional detachment and do not forbid marriage, family, or close personal relationships.

The tradition relies primarily upon shared culture and mutual accountability rather than strict enforcement.
  • Reputation: The Frontier Wardens are relatively unknown throughout the wider galaxy. Among frontier communities they have developed a reputation as honest protectors and reliable mediators. Many settlers view them as wandering marshals or guardians.

Governments generally regard them as harmless. Larger Force traditions often consider them unusual but respectable.

Pirates, slavers, raiders, and criminal syndicates operating in frontier regions tend to view the Wardens with considerably less affection.
  • Openness: Moderately open.
Wardens are generally willing to work alongside governments, local authorities, Jedi, independent Force users, and civilian organizations. While they are protective of their traditions and training methods, they are not secretive and do not actively hide their existence.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Frontier Wardens emerged during the time following the Four Hundred Year Darkness.

As the galaxy fractured into competing governments, successor states, and independent powers, countless frontier settlements found themselves isolated from meaningful protection. Many Force-sensitive individuals likewise found themselves disconnected from traditional Jedi institutions.

Among them was Garrick Calder, an Almannian wanderer who spent decades traveling the frontier as a pilot, scout, mediator, and protector.

Over time, Calder encountered other independent Light Side practitioners who shared similar beliefs. Rather than rebuild a Jedi Order, they established a small fellowship dedicated to serving ordinary people living beyond the reach of major governments.

Their headquarters, Stonewatch Hold, was established within the wilderness of Almania and became a gathering place for like-minded Force users.

The Wardens intentionally resisted growth into a major organization. They viewed many historical Force traditions as having become entangled in politics, wars, and institutional ambitions. Instead, the Wardens adopted a decentralized structure that emphasized personal responsibility, local service, and community trust.

By 902 ABY, the Frontier Wardens remain a small but respected presence across portions of the Mid Rim and Outer Rim. Though few in number, their reputation continues to spread among frontier communities that know help may arrive wearing a weathered longcoat and the symbol of the winged blade.
