From One Murderer to Another

Davik Tren

The Friendly Fiend
Davik had long been trailing this starfighter, this insignificant ship. He had been able to make his way a bit closer by this time, managing to avoid any sensor pings they may come of a ship of the size but only he knew why he was going through all of this trouble. This had to be the one. The murderer. Several witness accounts had confirmed it and now the bounty hunter had finally found what he was looking for. Although for now, he would lie in wait.

The sun had just begun to sink below the horizon when the small starfighter landed with a soft hiss. Stepping out, Alexis Braend squinted against the sun's purposeful rays. Her emerald green eyes sparked with excitement and curiosity as she looked around her; it had been too long since she'd been home. "Boy," the dark haired vixen chuckled, "This place has really changed since the last time I was here." Alexis quickly made her way to a small bar across the street. Space inside the building was limited, but with a simple mind-push she was able to convince a customer that he'd finished his drink and was told to leave. Hopping onto the vacated barstool, Alexis grinned. Alcoholics were really too easy to manipulate.

Davik watched as the small starfighter landed on the platform below and began his own descent. He had not been to this place in a long time as well, though, it was suitable that his work was bringing him here now. He leveled out over the pad and brought down the Sunrider. He had seen the dark form the girl enter one of the bars that was not too far away but he had no intention of going inside. It was only a matter of time until she came out, and that is when he would do it, when she was drunk and unsuspecting. Foolish outlaws always did this, he knew because HE often did it, and it nearly ended in disaster for the spacer. With a calm stride he walked over to the outside wall of the bar and simply leaned against it in wait. He may be here a while.

Smoke swirled within the bar, alternately hiding and revealing different corners of the building. For hours Alexis had amused herself by starting fights among the bar's customers. The fights had begun small, but the men and women within the tavern had already separated into distinct groups of antagonism. Customers who had been friends for years found themselves in opposition, glaring at one another across the room. With each mental shove, the atmosphere within the building grew tenser until finally, the situation exploded in a flurry of fists and insults that spilled into the street. Excited, Alexis jumped up and emulated different fighters, switching up her advocacy with each blow. "Left! Right!" she shouted as two men, one a grisly giant with meaty fists, the other a smaller, emaciated looking drifter, viciously attacked each other. "You hit like a girl!" Finally, the massive man grabbed his opponent by the shirt and heaved him through a nearby window. Reaching down, Alexis grabbed the remainder of her Ithorian whiskey and quickly downed it. Finished, she slammed the glass onto a nearby table and followed the brawl outside. This night was finally looking up.

Davik had begun to grow tired of waiting, and was nearly about to enter the corellian bar. That is until a small hooded form suddenly crashed through the glass of the cantina's main window. The man looked to be nothing but a drifter but he was out cold. This was quite strange as the patrons had seemed quite calm when Davik had looked in at first, however now they appeared to be in frenzy! As more and more patrons of different races and creeds rushed outside, Davik sighted her. She had dark hair and a quite recognizable face from the datapad he had been shown when he had left his client's home in this drastic search... Now, he had to catch her.

She made a good way of hiding herself amongst the crowd, and it was becoming a challenge for even the young hunter to keep up with her. The streets began to flow with fighting that nearly blocked the entire street, and this was to be the perfect area of confusion to perhaps knock the woman to the ground. Davik had no intention of killing the girl, unless of course she MADE him. That would be another story altogether but a live captive usually made the client happier than a head rolling onto their desk. With the girl now in sight Davik began to approach as she leaped about on top of other patrons that were in heavy combat with one another, he then raised his gauntlet and switched the small hidden stun emitter to charge up.

Alexis leaped from one pile of combatants to another. She was enjoying the chaos that her powers had inspired when she felt a frisson of danger shoot up her spine. Looking around, she noticed a tall, dark-haired man staring at her instead of taking part in the melee. His nonchalance in the midst of the turmoil that filled the streets incited her suspicious nature to raise its head. That suspicion was proven as she watched the raven-haired stranger slowly lift a gauntlet and point it in her direction. Alarmed, Alexis turned and quickly dashed through the crowd and into a darkened alley a few feet away.

Stepping into a shadowy corner, she created an illusion of emptiness that would hide her presence within the alleyway. If the man followed her, he would be unable to know her location and would potentially believe that she had exited the tenebrous passage and become lost in the winding streets of the city.

Regardless of whether he believed that or not, though, she would be ready for him; this man would not get away with hunting her and ruining her night of fun when it was finally getting interesting. Hunkering down, Alexis gathered her wits and prepared to confront her newest stalker.

“Hey,” she thought as she waited, “At least he’s cute.”

Davik was just about to press the button to activate the emitter, but then the hunter was quite suprised at the agility of the girl who so easily danced around the crowed of brawling barfighters. He had certainly expected her not to notice him, especially amongst the chaos that was present in the street. He at least saw where she had run though, down a dark alleyway no less. Perfect territory for an assassin such as herself and Davik began to feel that he should treat this job with a bit more caution.

As the spacer walked slowly into the alleyway with his gauntlet raised, he turned on a small flashlight that was also, conveniently, attached to his gauntlet. She could not have gone very far in such a short amount of time and the way she had gone was no easy one either, lots of overturned boxes and garbage. He found no reason to be cautious especially in here, as it was not like she would run very far, what with her ship blocked by his own path when she ran down into this death trap of an alley. Even still, he had no expectations she would actually be stalking him.

"Come out...Come out... Wherever you are..."

"Come out...Come out... Wherever you are..."
Alexis heard the man call out to her as he passed close to where she hid. She held her breath, forgetting for a moment that the illusion she had created shielded her from his consciousness. He believed her to be one of many piles of trash within the alley, and would likely continue to do so. Regardless, Alexis proceeded cautiously; she couldn't be sure about any force sensitivity he may or may not have. Readying her lightwhip, she looked closely at her follower. Upon closer inspection, he appeared much younger than she had originally thought. Maybe even a little younger than her. His rugged cheekbones stood in stark contrast to the rest of his face as he prowled through the gloomy back-street. He didn't appear to be in any hurry, but searched methodically, stopping periodically to squint into the darkened corners of the alleyway.

As he continued to search, Alexis thought of perhaps confronting the man. After all, few had withstood her charms once she unleashed the full force of her sexuality. It was likely he would behave exactly as she expected and stare speechless until it was too late. Maybe she'd play with him a little while. It was always fun to banter with opponents; they always seemed to underestimate her abilities. Not that Alexis was complaining; she rather enjoyed the looks on people's faces when they realized she could fight. It would be interesting to discover how this man reacted. First, however, she would attempt to gather more information. The hunter had just become the hunted.

Davik continued down the narrow alleyway in search of his supposed target. He drew in the cold dank air of the city in short brisk breaths to keep himself even more concealed, though he was unaware that he had just passed the very girl he was hunting. He was not about to give up however, being that the reward was so high. When he finalized that she had long left the alley, he turned and started to walk back down the alley way towards his ship, there was only one way for her to get off this planet and that was with her ship. And he would NOT let that happen.

Frustration had drawn the man's body into sleek, hard lines. Seeming to give up, he quickly turned back toward the entrance to the side street. His brisk steps drew him nearer to Alexis until he once again passed so close that she could see the whiskers on his cheeks which he must have missed while shaving. Alexis couldn't help noticing his apparent willingness to give up so soon. Perhaps she knew something she didn't. The man must have more tricks up his sleeve than she had originally thought. Nevertheless, there was no way this muscle-man would get the best of her. He was quickly moving away from her; Alexis knew she'd have to act soon or forfeit the element of surprise. Before she could think better of it, Alexis dropped the illusion of an empty alleyway. Stepping from the shadows, she bent down and picked up a mid-sized rock. It's light surface gently refracted what little light that was evident within the dim side street; she almost didn't want to let it go. After tossing it between her hands a few times she gently lobbed it at the man's head, hoping to hit him and gain his attention.

Alexis grinned; she couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he discovered that he had been duped. As a man, it would likely aggravate him that he'd been bested by a woman. How exciting! She wondered what he would think, how he would react. Maybe she'd actually get to fight him. That would certainly add character to the night. After all, she thought, he sort of owed it to her to make the night interesting, especially after he'd forced her away from the delightful anarchy her power had created. Yes, she decided, that would be fun. Striking a seductive pose, Alexis assumed the vapid persona she tended to adopt with men of any species.

"Hey boy toy," she crooned, "Looking for me?"

Davik had been stepping down the bleak alleyway whilst checking the datapad that had been monitoring his own ship's systems and readiness, when the small, smooth rock hit him in the back of the collar. He froze where he stood and placed his hand on his blaster before whipping around to aim at the voice, of which, he supposed would be his target. He was strangely relieved that it was in fact the assassin he had been pursuing for the better part of two weeks, and now he kept his aim steady and the set the blaster set to stun, to keep his previous goals in mind. When he eyed the actual figure of his target, he was a bit surprised that a person with an assassins reputation would be so feminine and lean in muscle. He supposed she could be capable of being an assassin, though she would stand no match in melee surely.

The spacer now let loose a confident smirk, and walked towards his target, as she tauntingly crooned him over. She was certainly not smart, whoever she was, revealing herself to her hunter.

"Easier than I expected... Hands on your head! Someone is looking for you..."

With those formalities out of the way, the young hunter began to approach her with the shock cuffs that would bring her into custody. This would be an easier mission than he had anticipated... His first assassin target was not impressing him.

Alexis chuckled to herself as her pebble hit its mark. The man turned toward her. His confident swagger implied both a gross overconfidence in his abilities and a dangerous lack of confidence in hers. She couldn't wait to show him how wrong he was to underestimate her. She snorted softly at his assumption that she'd simply bow down to his demands. As if she'd willingly surrender to anyone. She hadn’t survived for this long to be bested by someone, and a man, no less! He had a lot to learn if he believed himself superior. She always had something up her sleeve. Who knew, maybe she'd let him take her to his ship. It might be interesting to see how he reacted to a "capture". Of course, that depended upon who was looking for her. Curiosity made her wonder who had chosen to send such a hard-body after her.

"Darling," she said, smiling. Hoping to disarm him, she shot the man a lascivious look. "Someone is always looking for me. What makes you so special?”

As he meandered toward her, the assassin coquette grabbed her lightwhip and, after activating it, began to twirl it in the air. Her muscles tightened in anticipation; her senses felt heightened. Tense situations such as this one were what she lived for. She'd come into this alley hoping for a fight, and if he decided to use his gauntlet, she'd be ready.

Davik went into action immediately. He knew from a few years of experience that the element of surprise was key in the defeat of a confident enemy, and thus he dropped to the floor and released the two springs in his boots which shot forth small darts towards Alexis. Should any of the darts impact a piece of her person, the girl would feel an extreme paralyzing effect would sweep through that area of the body. In preparation for this attack failing, Davik engaged the small energized shields on his wrists and prepared for her retaliation.
