The appearance of these hypergates had caused a bit of a stir. Even more disturbing were the things on the other side. The dead now waking, the passed no longer in the past. It was an anomaly that seldom occurred, especially on the galactic scale (though not entirely unheard of). Nevertheless, the beings from beyond, those who had passed previously, were not meant to walk the world once more. And as the Shadow of Death - Nay, as Death given form himself, Oleander took a personal interest into the matter.

From his previous trek into Oblivion, he'd encountered a servant of the machine god. Such a discovery had been far from good news, especially considering the placement of both of the Confederacy's hypergates. One on the cloning world of Kamino, the other on the home, or at least former home, of the Techno Union, neither would be an ideal situation if servants of Omni made it to the waking world. And so Oleander had taken it upon himself to increase security for both hypergates.

It was on an inspection of the gate in which he felt something, not something he could put to name. A general sensation that something, not necessarily good or bad, was afoot. And so he'd taken to the gate's entrance himself, looking over staff's shoulders as they observed monitors with readings and reports, trying to make sense of it all, trying to identify a source to the strange feeling.

Colors and lights flashed in existence. Eyes watched, darting back and forth through the refractions of light. It shined into the endless void of darkness. Gasping, struggling for air - a new sensation filled the void. Clawing, reaching - wanting to live. Desires and needs, then suddenly self-awareness.

The light-filled her vision as pressure pressed against every inch of her form, shaping it into something solid.

The lithe form of a woman shot out of the hypergate, landing into the dirt and rubble at the gate's base. She laid there for a few moments, gathering her thoughts. It was a concept she never had before, thoughts, feelings, and senses. The smell of minerals and grime filled her nose, causing her to lean up with new muscles and shape.

Pain surged through her arms and core; she whimpered till she sat upright. Dirt clinging to her clothing, something in her mind flashed a brief memory of hands brushing against clothing to remove dirt. Her hands moved on their own, mimicking the memory, cleaning herself from the soil. She felt her brow crease in confusion as she looked at her scenery. None of it was familiar; everything was new, even the fire in her chest from inhaling her first breath.

A strange feeling overcame her, it felt like a thousand eyes focused on her, but these eyes were hidden from her vision. Fingers dug into the dirt as she tried to slow the rapid beating in her chest. Memories or instincts took command of the body, crusted lips parted, and a velvet laced voice called out.

“Hello...who are you?”

The lights were new, something neither Oleander nor the small team of scientists assigned to monitor the hypergate's activity had anticipated. He shied away from the light on instinct, averting his gaze lest it worsen his already lackluster vision. Yet shutting off one sense so often heightened another, a trait he fully utilized as he tried to keep stock of the area without his physical eyes. He could make out the familiar presences of those working as they too reacted to the light, followed by the introduction of another presence.

And then the light faded, the area settling into a stunned silence. The Anzat waited another 3 seconds before turning to look back to the hypergate in full, taking in the being that had fallen from the gate. "Is she dead?" a voice, likely an intern, loudly whispered before they were promptly hushed by another. A beat later, the woman stirred.

Out of the corner of his eye, Oleander caught the movement of a member of security staff, moving to address the new arrival. With a raise of a hand, Oleander halted that approach, waving them off before his hand drifted to his side, retrieving the lightsaber from his belt and depositing the metallic cylinder onto a workstation with a quiet clink.

Saberless, though far from disarmed, he ventured beyond the ring of bodies and appliances, approaching the seated woman though stopping short of personal space. His head tilted to the side, taking stock of the woman as he lowered into a crouch closer to her level, a knee popping with the descent. "You may call me Oleander. What can I call you? And what brings you here?"
