"I've seen what the Empire stands for. We bring peace to warring worlds. We bring order and prosperity for everyone." -Maarek Stele

For one who bears such responsibility in the inner workings of the Empire, Frevik Margos is surprisingly young. He is lean and fine-boned, with a thin face composed of sharp lines. High cheekbones, a slash of a mouth, and slender, unmoving brows give him a coldly regal air, and his facial expressions are always closed, distant, and vaguely predatory. The effect is only heightened by the dark lenses he often wears over his eyes and the deep facial scars he bears, relics of his time with the Shiffrin militias. The contrasting darkness of his raven hair makes his pale skin look even paler, almost corpse-like. His posture and bearing do little to ease this impression; he is perpetually straight-backed and rigid, often clasping his hands behind his back and standing perfectly still as he listens. Yet he can move very quickly when he feels the need, often surprising those around him when inspiration strikes and he ventures off in a burst of energetic motion. His voice is soft but holds an aura of menace, the durasteel fist in a whispersilk glove.

Frevik values order and stability above all else, and has few qualms about how they are achieved. Although not a violent man in person, he will not hesitate to plan and orchestrate the utter destruction of any obstacle he sees to his own life goals or to the Imperial state with which he has so closely allied himself. Nor does he flinch from seeing the consequences of such planning. He thinks of the galaxy as a naturally violent, lawless place where it is impossible for the average person to lead a meaningful life; without strong guidance and strict regulation, he believes that crime and predation will run rampant. If freedom means lawlessness and uncertainty, he is more than happy to sacrifice it. Still, he considers himself the master of his own destiny. While many beings need to be beneath the guidance of more enlightened masters, he is not among them. He believes in his intellect and the power of his ambition, trusting that they will empower him to be the creator of those needed laws rather than their subject. Such will be his greatest legacy.

"As long as this natural right of every man to every thing endureth, there can be no security to any man." -Thomas Hobbes

-Head for Business: Frevik has a keen and analytical mind, enabling him to learn and process information quickly. He has turned this ability to the task of mastering logistics, and he has been extremely successful. Beyond running calculations on supply and demand, costs and benefits, he also has a deep understanding of how current and historical galactic events shape every aspect of his areas of interest, allowing him great insight into market affairs.

-Willpower: Frevik is independent, determined, and tireless in the pursuit of his goals. His thinking is flexible, allowing him to react to complications and switch easily to planned or unplanned contingencies, but he does not compromise or surrender before achieving the end result he desires. Whether using manipulation or force, and he is adept at both, he will not stop until his victory is total, and he does not soon forget those who dare get in his way.

-Conditioning: People underestimate Frevik at their own peril, and this is nearly as true for his physical power as his tremendous influence. Top quality muscle stimulators and rigorous workouts keep him in top condition, and he is trained and experienced in the use of dozens of ranged and melee weapons, as well as several martial arts. His great endurance allows him to stay focused and alert even in the midst of strenuous projects and dangerous situations.

“Let me tell you, your view of the Empire is far too dramatic. The Empire is a government. It keeps billions of beings fed and clothed.” -Thrawn

-Addiction: To Frevik, sleep is wasted time that could be better spent innovating or managing his resources. He has overcome this supposed deficiency by taking Lesai spice, which stands in for rest and allows him to stay on his feet practically at all times. Over the years, however, he has built a significant tolerance to the spice. Failing to get his dose could have serious physical consequences. If his addiction became known, that could raise political problems.

-Isolation: Frevik has a keen mind, and deals well with people when discussing business or power, but he is missing some fundamental component necessary to relate to people on a deeper level. He has many allies, but no one he could truly call a friend, and he is aware that even those presently aiding him might well turn on him given the right incentives. Not quite paranoid, he does watch his back, and usually has no one but himself to rely upon in a crisis.

-Scarification: The wounds to Frevik's face are more than skin-deep. They represent to him the consequences of living in a lawless galaxy, and though he could easily have them fixed, he keeps them as a reminder of where he came from. He is less aware of the mental scars, which have made his thinking rigid and uncompromising. He cannot see beyond his vision of order and security, nor perceive the often terrible moral cost as a significant drawback.

“Your task is to teach them the meaning of law and order... then to punish them so that they remember the lesson.” -Jova Tarkin

Frevik Margos was born on the backwater world of Shiffrin, though his family wasn't from the region. His parents were Republic doctors who, as part of an agreement that paid for their medical school tuition, had been posted to a distant world to provide quality healthcare to underserved populations. It was the end of the 400-year darkness, and even the most distant parts of the galaxy were beginning to reconnect, but the damage done by several centuries of paranoia, isolation, and lawlessness could not easily be undone. Wild Space was home to countless smuggler gangs, pirate fleets, petty warlords, and crazed cults, and Shiffrin, which lacked any defense force larger than local militias, was all too often at their mercy. Frevik's parents did the best they could to shield him while serving those they had come to help, but the boy was all too often exposed to the gory aftermath of brutal raids. More than once his parents' clinic itself became a target as criminals sought the life-saving drugs the Republic had placed there, hoping to resell them at a profit.

As a result, Frevik grew up in an environment of watchful uncertainty. Life would be normal, simple, even boring, but that pattern could be shattered in an instant when the skies were suddenly darkened by raider ships. The boy's parents had high expectations for him in school, but he managed to exceed them even while often distracted by the unexpected dangers of his tumultuous home. Where many of his peers were determined to escape, leaving Shiffrin behind before it became their tomb, Frevik became active in the local militia by the age of sixteen, trying to impose some semblance of order and safety on the chaos. The group lost as many battles as they won, all too often driven off by the superior arms and numbers of the looters they fought, and it was during this time that Frevik made an important realization: doing the right thing, having a righteous cause and a deep conviction behind it, didn't mean you would win. Only power could assure that.

As more and more groups, from the Red Ravens to the Death Night to the Techno Union to the Order of the Righteous Flame, briefly made their mark on his homeworld and left it all the more desperate and lawless in their wake, Frevik resolved to acquire the necessary power to make the change he desired. His avenue would be to use his greatest strength: his mind. Using a combination of scholarships targeted to rural worlds and his own exceptional test scores, he secured early admission to the Baobab Merchant Marine Academy on Manda, where he studied business, economics, and political science, graduating in three years with a degree in each. Another two years saw him secure a higher degree in business administration and dozens of connections in the local corporate world. He achieved this through literally constant work year-round, without sleep, social life, or vacation. In this practical knowledge he found purpose and meaning, and he knew it would be his means of acquiring power. The rise of the Remnant that provided his chance.

When Admiral Tanomas Graf and his followers annexed Kamino and several of the planets surrounding it, forging the beginnings of a resurgent Galactic Empire, Frevik saw what he believed to be the first true opportunity to bring lasting stability to the lawless region of his birth. He was no military mind, however, and had no place in the hierarchy of the Imperial Navy. So he sought another method of contributing to the New Order. As the territory of the Remnant expanded and the logistical challenge of supplying the growing armies of the Emperor became ever more complex, Frevik used his connections to posit a simple solution: privatize. And so at the young age of only twenty-four he was able to forge the Imperial Mining Collective, a civilian but state-regulated corporation dedicated to providing the materiel necessary to fuel the Imperial war machine. His business expertise made the company tremendously profitable and brought him wealth that would be unimaginable to those back on Shiffrin, but he was far from finished.
