Freaking New Guys

Location:
Lorrd…
Cotlachan Mountains…
Objective:
Train FNG’s…

The copter’s set down at the floor of the mountains of Cachan and Lucien let the brisk cool air roll over him. He hopped out of the hover copter and the rolling plains of grass bent beneath his boots and large pine trees swayed gently in the breeze. Lucien beckoned to the rest of the recruits with a hand and then turned back to stare out over the mountainscape. He threw a holoprojector in front of him and a large holomap took up a portion of the area. All over the mountain grizzled sergeants would be doing the same for the other teams. Lucien turned his helmeted head slightly and watched the last of the recruits exit the copter out of the corner of his eye. When he was sure they had all left the confines of the copter he turned his head to fully regard the map once more.

“Bien garcons, this will be our playground of destruction,” Lucien said as he nodded to the holo map, the helmets comms making his voice sound robotic.

“We are here,” Lucien said as he pointed to the base of the mountain. “Teams have been deployed all around the foot here. At the very top there is a bunker with a flag. First team to reach the flag and take it wins. Trees provide excellent cover along the mountain and mid way up there is wetland overgrown with tall grass giving magnificent concealment,” Lucien said with a smirk hidden beneath his helmet.

Lucien walked towards a staff sergeant clad in the training armor and shot him in the leg with his practice AR. “HEY!” The soldier shouted, but Lucien payed him no mind. The man’s armored leg locked up and he began to limp towards Lucien. “Your armor’s hydraulics are programmed to seize and lockup should you be shot by the high impact rubber rounds loaded within these rifles!” Lucien shouted.

The staff sergeant had now closed the ground to Lucien and attempted to strangle the man. Lucien grabbed the staff sergeant by the outstretched hand and quickly placed a leg behind the man’s “Dead” leg. Lucien tripped the staff sergeant, kneeled atop him, then gave him a swift punch to the chest. Lucien looked back up to the recruits and the Sergeant lay still “You mother kharker!” The sergeant yelled among other things. “You’re armor locks up when enough blunt force trauma is applied as well. This provides for excellent melee combat training,” Lucien finished.

“Any questions?”

Trajan jumped out with a smash, his armored boots a far better comfort than the shiny dress uniform shoes as he double timed it over to [member="Lucien Galtier"] before he began to talk. Quickly he took a knee and placed his protective goggles on just as an extra protection. Force of Habit. While his Squad leader showed the map Trajan was taking mental notes of every small contour line in the holomap for later use if needed, he wondered if there would be extra gear laying around for them to find further into the mission. The blue lenses of his goggles shined with the reflection of the holonet as it showed the flag, the objective... the win. He examined his traditional AR, a clean weapon. His weapon showed no use or tear and it clearly wasn't one of those hand-me-downs that have traded hands of a thousand privates and sergeants and seen a billion blaster rounds through it's barrel. Top of the line gear... he could get used to that. The armor was much the same, brand spanking new and something he never got issued in the normal logistics department, kark, even his eye protection was self bought.

He had a plan, one who would work with his strengths and cover up most of his weaknesses; Work trail element, cover the six o clock of his squad and provide base covering fire with a wide arc range to target as much of an area as possible. The idea was volume, keep their heads down while the more sharp eyed of his team picked off targets. He checked how much ammo he had before... this plan would only be effective if that assumption of a cache of extra gear and rounds could be found in the AO.

He looked over at Lucien and nodded, raising his hand when asked for questions. "Yeah can i get more ammo?"

Sitting in the chopper silently as he watched the many conversations among the group he was with. A few talking about girls back home, another about the new gun they picked up, all fairly useless to him. They all ignored him, which was good, he didn't want to be talked to or focused on, he hated attention. He held his T-21 blaster rifle in his lap and began to clean it, making sure it was spotless and looking factory fresh, more then factory fresh. He had his cybernetics look over the weapon from top to bottom making sure not a piece of it was not clean and that it was perfect, when it cleared it he put the pieces back together and had his systems check it over making sure that it was excellent again. Getting the okay he threw the sling over his shoulder and waited until they landed.

As they landed they were all told to get out, filing out last he stayed in the back of the group not saying a word as the leader of this whole training operation threw a holo-projector of a map down on the ground.

The man began talking, explaining about their mission, where they were, and what they would be doing. He listened closely making sure that he remembered everything that was said he didn't want to miss a beat, or forget anything that would be of importance to him later, which he knew it would be. He took a note in his head about the treeline cover, but also thought about how much the enemy would also know and thought it better to attempt to find a different way up.

A Staff Sergeant got shot in the leg by the man and didn't seem to happy about it. Darson stared at them in silence, this was just silly and a waste of time, Just explain what the suit does, not show it, he thought as he watched the whole fiasco of the angry Staff Sargent attempting to choke the man and getting shoved to the ground. He just shook his head softly watching them. As the man finally finished his demonstration he stood up and asked the group if they were ready.

Standing off on his own he got everything he needed fast and packed it up in his bag and made sure that everything he had was pristine cleaning things over and over again, he wanted to make sure that everything worked to peak efficiency. He had his cybernetics run a diagnostic of his armor and his systems and waited for all systems to give the all-clear before he finally looked back towards the group and waited for the training to finally begin. Truly he wasn't excited for the mission, he truly dreaded the waste of time, but he didn't have much of a choice so he was going to do the best he could possibly do.

And they better watch out.

It was official - Xandari hated helmets. The armor itself was awkward, far more than what she was used to wearing. Ever since the loss of a fleshy arm, sleeves weren't exactly overly necessary. That and she didn't take part in the combat side of things often. Ever, actually. Still, the armor she could get used to. The helmet was another story. Sure, it had plenty of functions that'd no doubt help in the long run, but it was just uncomfortable. The way she could see the helmet's shell over what she was actually supposed to be looking at if she paid attention, the strand of hair that didn't quite impede her vision but was still annoyingly poking at her face, the sudden voice over the comms. It was all just weird.

She snapped out of her internal monologue against helmets with a jump as the Staff Sargent was shot. With the explanation of how the armor would react to being shot, the gravity of their little game started to dawn at her. Actual death being an option or not, getting shot was going to suck. A lot. She felt a twinge of pity for the soldier, yet hoped he would continue to try and fight. The more he did it, the longer before the rest of them started, right? Still, she had questions that needed answering.

"A lot of questions, actually. Is this armor going to treat cybernetic limbs like flesh?" If not, she could at least use that arm as some sort of shield if absolutely necessary.

Tyris became quite nostalgic when he saw the beautiful mountain range they had chosen to carry out this training mission. He grew up in the mountains of Zenith Prime, he loved them, they were his home and they always would be. Sadly he had not had the chance to go back since... He didnt even want to think about it right now.

The assault rifles they had been given were not the weapons Tyris preferred, he always preferred a good sniper or DMR, but the AR would be good enough, he was good with any weapon, he just liked certain kinds over others. He like accuracy and firepower, not fire rate. That did not mean he was not lethal with ARs or other kind of weapons, he could still beat just about anyone, especially all of these kids.

Tyris honestly did not care about winning this, he saw this as target practice. A bunch of greenhorns and young kids bumbling through the woods was really good target practice. He would find a nice spot to hide, and snipe hostiles as they went by, his hud would be able to alert him who was friend and foe, he would turn his off unless somebody actually managed to find him, it would reveal his position far too easily, to both friend and foe. He would basically be a ghost, able to see but not be seen.

He patiently awaited the people he would be linked up with, there were not too many experienced soldiers around this place, it was really quite sad, it was a major problem that needed to be fixed, hopefully missions like this would create men out of these mice.

Norin Terrek

Hear, do you not hear it?
As soon as his boots hit the ground, Norin immersed himself in the area around him. It was a vast mountain range, perfect for picking off any target, this also explained as to why they were chosen to train in a remote mountain range, as opposed to your standard urban environment and the such.

Even if the environment was perfect for sniping the troops didn't get snipers. Instead, they got practice AR's, which weren't bad, but what were the point of going to a vast, open mountain range and not exploiting the one and only opportunity the environment presents?! Fortunately for Norin, he was also good with assault rifles, but the missed opportunity almost infuriated him.

Norin didn't even want to get started with the people he was working with. He had an antisocial, an arrogant kid, and a war veteran who thinks he's the greatest soldier in Galactic History, in other words, an arrogant "kid". Thankfully, the objective was your simple capture the flag, which shouldn't prove too difficult, or so he hoped.

Lucien listened as a few of the new recruits voiced their questions and nodded.

“The armor does nothing other than lock up it’s hydraulics. Meaning it should not hurt you at all. But, I have seen a recruit fall from a tree, which ended in his armor locking up at a odd angle. It proved to be… Painful for the man. So, be careful please,” Lucien growled.

Another recruit asked for ammunition and Lucien unclipped a mag from his belt and tossed it to the man. Lucien had read his file, the man had been an engineer of some sort. He wondered how well he would fare in combat.

“Conserve your ammo soldier. Aim for the center body,” Lucien said carefully.

Had they wanted suppressive fire they would’ve given the man a machine gun. Over time Lucien found that the bigger the gun the less skill it took and he wanted all of his troops to be very skilled.

“Alright blue team, let’s go take that flag,” Lucien said through his helmets comms.

He turned from the new recruits and began to make his way up the dirt road to the forest. As they reached the edge Lucien looked over the recruits and his HUD illuminated each of them with a green outline. Their names and armor systems status sat above their heads.

“Darson, you take point. Trajan cover our six. The rest stay close and keep your head on a swivel,”

One more mag? That was hardly working with his plan... but it was a different type it and strategy that he was used to. Trajan would have to do one thing that he had never had to do before; Adapt. "Roger that. Let's kick heir ass" Trajan voiced no more questions or complaints. With his Ar standard rifle in hand he covered the basic flank pattern he was taught in the most basic combat training and stuck to it. Basics were invaluable, keeping your head on a swivel, ricking with enough weight to carry supplies and having enough gear and ammunition to cause so much pain to the enemy that they would have a really bad day. Trajan had this one thing inside him at this moment that at no time during his entire service did he ever have before, motivation and morale. He was not only exited he was downright pumped for the exercise at hand, a standard down and dirty infantry training op with not just OP four but an entire team racing for the damned flag at the other side of rain bow. It sure as hell beat sitting at the motorpool dealing with rinky dink transports all day that's for damn sure. Even though he wished he had a machine gun to be able to lay down a hell of fire and blaster plasma downrange like the God of the Sky himself was calling down a storm he took the situation and made the best of it.

He had low ammo for his linking, picking shots and being accurate was of prime importance given that the only resupply of ammunition he was going to get, given to what he had heard was off downed enemies. It was a new set of skills and new challenge to overcome and prove himself in. Infantry was something Trajan never thought he was going to do, it wasn't his MO he always thought he wasn't goo enough for it... yet here he was doing grunt chit with grunt people... The way he thought about it was a simple as just pushing himself to the point where he physically couldn't do anything but go on or die. "I got your six"

Standing towards the back he listened to the man speak in front of him and some side comments arise as well.

He sighed under his breath, could these soldiers be any more unqualified? If they were in his unit they would've been kicked out after one looked at them, but he didn't have the choice, and they needed every soldier that they could get, so he would have to suffer until he far outranked them and could be by himself somewhere far away.

"That's not nice their just trying to understand what's happening Darson." The voice rang from his head and in his vision came a small girl made of coding, this still creeped him out a little.

He didn't say a word he just looked forward and listened to Lucien talk some more.

"Don't ignore me, remember I hear everything you think, which is probably not the best when you go to a club or two. But I won't tell your friends." The AI smirked at him as she teased with him.

“Alright blue team, let’s go take that flag,” After this came over comms he grabbed his gun and waited for orders.

Lucien moved up the trail and he moved after him standing behind him as they made their way to the edge of the treeline, he made sure that he had Sheryl mark all the friendlies on his HUD for him so he wouldn't shoot them... accidentally. He raised a brow as he was told to take point but he just nodded and made his way to the front.

He leveled his gun up to his eyes and waited for everyone to get ready behind him as he took a crouch scanning in front of them.
