Forest Encounters {Closed}

Largely untouched by the desire of the modern universe, Abbaji sat like a green gemstone in the outer rim of the galaxy. Fortune had brought Malak here in his early years of life. It was no wonder that it was the only place he'd ever really called home.

Travelers were few and companions besides the three nexu he befriended were basically unheard of. The amount of time that passed blurred sometimes but it didn't matter. Not to somebody who had retired from the affairs of the galactic war-mongers. All had become irrational: the religions, governments, guilds and corporations.

The hands of the universe were all stained with the blood of each others ancestors, hatred and fear had seeded itself deep into the belly of most of the universe. To say Jameris hands were clean would be a bold statement; your view on time and nature changes everything though. Long ago the struggle to battle himself had fallen away from Malak, judgement of events had led him to just sit and contemplate about what was happening. The desire for action had become insubstantial.

Life was all it could be on Abbaji, there was nothing waiting out in the universe for someone outmatched and with no real desire to take more life in confusion. The necessity of combat for survival was apparent though, that is why every night the old man thanked the force, the underlying fabric of the universe, that this world had remained largely unscathed by the unrest that accompanies being a sentient being.

The Irugian grove had always calmed him, even in past lives that he could now remember from his time in solitude. The trees and flowers of this world were exquisite: purples, blues, reds, and more of every shade. With no real reason for training other than to hunt and remain healthy, the only thing left to do was sit and smoke his pipeweed. It grew naturally in abundance on Abbaji and had one of the strongest effects of all natural substances he had encountered.

With nowhere to go, nobody to fight, and nothing to worry about - Malak spent his days enjoying the beauty of the world. Today's expedition was to his favorite waterfall, the nexu lunged through the trees nearby playing as Jameris ran through his forms vigorously on the thick limb of a firethorn tree. The small waterfall turned the pond it fed gently as Malak deftly somersaulted in place while running through martial arts patterns.

The force felt different today though, feelings that had not long come caused him to wonder. Sentience approached, the where and when were still difficult to discern through the misty haze of the force.

-Exciting-

Even Abbaji had fallen under the taint of universal confusion, but oddly enough, there was still little here to fight over.

Silence is Golden
Serenity overflowed in this oasis, permeating all life forms within: relaxing them, as if time went at a slower pace and the air was less dense. A hidden paradise, this spot was, and May had thought it was all hers alone. The flora and fauna were so interesting to her, and beautiful, a wonder to watch the birds flying around, landing on the tree branches, then flittering off, sometimes in pairs. She wondered what that would be like - to fly off somewhere, especially with a partner or mate. Fate had never been that fortunate for her.

The waterfall was glorious; she had never seen one before, much less been in it. It was a bit hard on her skin and head in the middle of its full force, so she waded to its outer edge, and showered in her undies. Her bags, clothes and comm were over on the shoreline to the East. Somewhere around nearby, her pet squall was frolicking, trying to chase the birds, perhaps. The sun felt so warming on her body, as if its rays could go through the transparent skin and reach to her very soul. She was at peace. A peace suddenly broken by...

Her senses felt his presence before she could even see his approach in the trees. The bushes scattered quickly in several directions ahead of him - animals. Hunters! she figured and her defenses went up, as her squall went all the way up a tree to hide, sensing the same danger. The cerulean Carnelian crystal around her neck allowed her to know what he felt. But the shore that held her bag and weapons was too far on the other side of the waterfall to make it over in time. Her knees bent to lower herself to bring the waterline right below her chin.

Heart raced fervently with anticipation, but she would be still and wait.

Malak was intrigued by the pale life-form before him. She was radiant and beautiful in a mysterious way, something about her made him remember the deep past, deep parts of his being that usually lay dormant began to stir like the pond. It was almost surreal to see another being about, Jameris black nexu companion Howler watched from a nearby tree, relaxed but prone.

While moving through the tall grass near the ponds bank Malak felt a gentle wave of compassion emanating from her coupled with a deep pain. Her eyes were already upon him by the time she came into view fully. His experienced mind automatically felt a feral nature rooted deep within her. At times his senses failed him, especially in such a tortured universe, his inquisitive nature never allowed him to retract though.

"Greetings," he called to her in galactic common. "I mean you no harm." Malak put his hands out in the open, palms out between them fingers towards the ground to show his hands were empty.

Gah! Spotted.

May kept her eyes on him, mesmerized by his aura, analyzing his every move and words and deciding that he seemed friendly, for now. But she had been deceived by strangers before, so she did not let her guard down. At least he gave a greeting and made a show of no weapons. His presence was so strong, a peaceful power emanating from him. She figured he was the type that did not need weapons. Then again, he looked so kindly and gentle, her eyes decided, that he was not too much of a threat to her immediate well-being.

The water still sprayed next to her, as droplets alit on her fine hair, shining silvery in the low sunlight of the luscious hour of dusk. She moved over, rising to stand fully, so that the water was only waist-high. He kept still, though was clearly watching her as she was watching him. She strafed sideways to her right, towards the direction of her bag, then a few more, eyes never leaving him, for fear of any sudden movement from him. A few more and she was close enough to the shore to feel confident to reach her comm if need be, and now the water's line was at her ankles, showing her full figure to the kindly, older-looking man. Her undergarments would appear a bit ragged, like tattered tan camisole and bloomers that had just had their first washing in weeks, for that was the truth.

In reply to him, she merely nodded. He now stood from her as far as the length of a tall tree, and she did not intend to go any closer. She paused to see what he would say or do next.

Malak could feel her sudden shock, a slight fear that emanated through the force around her. Her equipment was in plain sight, nothing out of the ordinary. It was no wonder she was startled, bare in front of him on some desolate outer rim world with few resources for survival.

*It's okay* Malak sent back through a telepathic form of empathy.

Instead of force more verbal action he slipped his shirt and pants off leaving nothing but his briefs on. Then gently he stepped into a standard defensive position -both hands in the air in front of him with palms down, fingers spread and spread stance front to back- noting her Echani heritage.

By the Force!

She heard him, or... sensed it, felt it. The words clear as the day. His mouth had not moved... had it? Now she was confused, as her memory betrayed her from this new shock.

What was he doing now? she wondered. Undressing? She gasped, then relaxed when he kept on his underclothes, at least. Curious eyes could not help but to notice that he was muscular, for his apparent age, which she took as more of a danger to her. He had strength certainly, of body .... and mind. Yet, now he did an Echani form... he knew Echani martial arts! This was all the more fascinating to her. Her legs took a few strides forward. She might as well get closer, for there was no way out... but to fight.

A few more steps forward, hands on her hips. She had learned the basics, the foundations, but then never progressed further, due to her poor abilities and weakness. She remembered some of the etiquette, hoping he only knew so much also, or would take mercy on her when he realized she wasn't a strong fighter. He seemed to be ... in defensive position. Did he want her to attack first? Yes, to gauge how good she was, no doubt. This thought put her on edge again.

Yet, his words had been, "It's ok,"... What is ok? she wondered strongly, so perplexed by this situation. She had heard the thoughts of others before, but those were more general or garbled. And this... was clearly a message from him right to her. He wanted her to know it was ok. Maybe that she was not in danger. He sent her the thought? The possibility of that was very exciting. He was connected to the Force, it seemed. That's why she had come here, to meet others who were. And now that it was reality, in front of her - she was scared, but she was moreso excited.

Now, standing mere meters away, her hands formed into fists, pressed together in front of her stomach. Her clothes were still dripping wet, clinging to her curvy outline. Her eyes full of wonder, shoving her fear to the background. She paused, but he did not move. It seems he was waiting for her, forcing her to make a move toward him.

And so she did, first she did the proper greeting - a nod of the head, then bending at stomach to bow, then going down to one knee for a very low bow of respect, but her eyes quickly back onto him, not trusting yet.
She began steadily stepping near, crossing right foot in front of left first, with her left side leading her body angled at 45 degrees, left arm blocking her face as her right fist aimed for his right hand.

The punch came soft and half-hearted. Timidity seemed to rule the beautiful entity before him. Without a thought Malak let his palm turn upward to intercept her fist. When the punch made contact there was a small slapping sound. Instead of go on the offense the old man backed off a step -aligning his center of gravity with the opposite foot forward- letting his hands relax in the same submissive defense position.

She was smaller than he thought, his size and appearance were uncommon for his Thyrsian heritage. It made it hard for him to relate the average size of their species with such a difference between them. His feelings were true then, he was the product of bio-genetic engineering. Regardless of his overbearing size, he would treat her gentle.

Malak bent his knees slightly lowering himself closer to her height and waited for her to come again, a soft smile touched his lips and her movements ignited a fiery passion. Her martial abilities seemed rusty but still intact from an earlier period of her life. Deep down the aging force master could feel her strength of self, a self forgotten and trying to claw its way back out.

*Don't hold back* Malak sent the impulse through the force, a soft mental suggestion.

She had intended to kick his legs out next, but he squatted and they were too steady now. His hands were like bricks - much more solid than she expected for an old man.

He spoke to her mind again, taunting this time. How dare he tell me what to do! I'm not holding back. ... Am I? She did not want to give away her abilities, nor hurt this man, but he clearly wanted to know her - the Echani way. Yet, his message came through to her mind, no doubt sent through the Force. So he was a Force user, but was he a Jedi? Or one of the Dark Ones? It was too soon to tell. A Dark One would pretend to be nice at first.

She had not been in this position in many years, nor ever with a stranger that was not a trusted Echani on her homeworld. She had been adrift for two years or so, searching for any possible rogue Jedi Masters. And within a few days of arriving, she is challenged to a fight. Just my luck, she figures. But then his smirk fueled her determination to show him she was no joke. She yelled out what would have been a grunt from anyone else, but came out as a heavy exhalation due to her muteness.

Then, she decided not to go simple, and she tried a combination of moves on him, though not at her full strength as to risk hurting him, but to show her technique of the Echani arts she had learned, long ago. It began with a backwards tumblesault, as she hopped to her feet and had a half-body's length between them now, to get some speed to her first swing at his arms, then turning a 360 to jab with her left, then ducking to aim for his mid-section.

Malak used a forearm block her first swiping attack, with no hesitation she flowed into her second spinning. In anticipation he readied his body by lowering his center of gravity further and sent her strike wide with another forearm block. Remaining balanced was the key, especially in close combat, falling over would due little to earn respect from her.

Jameris saw the last attack coming but left his guard open purposely. The Echani female made contact square in his upper abdomen, Malak tensed and exhaled as her fist made contact with his solid mid-section but stood his ground. There was a purpose to his feigned mistake though, in an instant he struck out with his right hand. His aim was to strike her center of chest with his fingertips and push back through her center of gravity. Then he threw the same attack as a follow up with his left.
