Space monsters are a hassle, always have been. And a Dark Sided space monster? Ooh, that's a pain in the backside. Hence, the need for hunters to create force-imbued harpoons to tackle the issue with Dark Sided space creatures who tend to be difficult to deal with convenient weaponry.
The very primitive weapon has scores of drawbacks and weaknesses due to its barbaric characteristics but when used against the targets it was made to destroy - it usually tends to be a one or two hit kill.
