Codex Denied Force-awakened Flora

Jack Sandrow

Writer, Character, Invasive Species
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a baseline material for use in the Factory & Codex in the future, as well as to codify an addendum to a Force Power that then enhances plant species. This is intended to not be restricted to any Force user, but to add a material that can be otherwise referenced by those who want to create stuff using it.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Not applicable
  • Origins: Wherever plants might be found, but requires a deliberate 'awakening' by a Force user, and thus, requires the user to be present.
  • Other Locations: See above
  • Classification: No specific classification
  • Average Growth Cycle: When awoken via the Force, plants are able to grow and manifest organs & organelles extremely rapidly, though they may momentarily pause their natural growth cycle.
  • Viability: When a plant becomes Force-awakened, it requires all the standard nutrients the plant might naturally require, in addition to a constant connection to the Force. If either of these sources of nourishment are depleted or deprived, the plant becomes still, or even might die.
  • Description: Force-awakened plant life is visibly distinct from 'normal' plant life. Boasting increased vitality, durability, flexibility, motility, and an overall 'healthier' or 'awakened' disposition, the plants appear animate, possibly even alive (in much the same way an animal would be alive). Perhaps they are glowing, or perhaps they are much more mobile, or any manner of distinction. Without any intervention, a Force-awakened plant is visibly distinct from its non-awakened brethren.

A Force-awakened plant is what happens when the Force is used to Surge plant life, but the Force remains within the plant in order for it to maintain itself in its current form. A tree may suddenly sprout to 5000 feet fall, stretching high above the canopy, but it is able to suddenly bounce back down to 50% its original size if required.

NOTE: An awakened connection to the Force allows ANY FORCE USER to access and gently control these plants as one might control or access technology in a similar fashion.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Average Height: Varies, depending on species. Can grow up to 500% its original size, provided the nutrients and/or Force energy is available.
  • Average Length: Varies, see above.
  • Color: Varies. Can be altered based on the will of the Force user, or might grow more vibrant simply by increasing its connection to the Force.
  • Nutritional Value: Varies, but usually is directly correlated to the original plant.
  • Toxicity: Varies, see above.
  • Other Effects: Varies, see above. Plants which are Force-awakened are stronger, healthier, faster, more durable, etc. than their standard non-awakened types.
  • Distinctions: See description. Force-awakened plants require a constant connection to the Force in order to maintain their malleability. If this Force connection is severed, the plant might remain in its current state, or revert back to its natural state, whichever consumes the least energy.
Strengths:
  • Adaptability
    • The sheer variety of plant life means that the limits of transformations and species are entirely dependent on the imagination of the Force user. The myriad of species and forms across the galaxy is an open book.
  • Enhancement
    • The Force grants strength and ability to those that use it. Plants would not be any different - plants awakened by the Force are stronger, tougher, faster, etc.
Weaknesses:
  • Connection
    • Without a direct connection to the Force (either naturally, or by the Force user), the Force-awakened plant will immediately enter a dormant state. It will either freeze in place or withdraw, whichever consumes the least energy. If the plant cannot properly 'reset' to a natural state, it might even die.
  • It's a plant
    • While the durability and adaptability of plants are a benefit, they are still plants. They keep all the weaknesses of their original forms.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Plant Surge has been a Force ability for a very, very long time. To awaken a plant via the Force requires just a little extra push. Jack might have discovered it himself, in his own way, but this is by no means unique to his bailiwick.

Jack Sandrow Jack Sandrow Hello! As the submission is currently written it comes across as trying to codex the force power "Plant Surge". Its stated as well in the intent about wanting to add an addendum which this doesn't do that. It reiterates what the force power does to plants. Please edit this so it doesn't read as an attempt to codify a force power (which isn't allowed in Codex).

Moving to the Pre-Codex please tag me or Srina Talon Srina Talon to return it to live Codex
