For further prosperity (Aleidis Ijet)

The jewel in the crown of the Republic, an ever shining gem the entire galaxy knew by site. Byss may stand closer to the very core of the known galaxy, but Coruscant was it's heart. Even from space it was simply amazing to look upon, so much life it seemed to have a pulse of pure light. Even as his shuttle pierced the planet's atmosphere he understood why this planet was the center of influence in the galaxy. Though a curious question did play through his mind. Did it become the center of the galaxy because of its nature, or did it become such a jewel because it was made the government's location?

Even as the shuttle touched down Sargon was already headed for the ramp, he wanted to smell the air. He didn't enjoy the stale air of spacecrafts, he never would at that. A planet's air spoke of its life though, its own unique signature in the galaxy, no two planets in the galaxy had the same life to it. Coruscant smelled of life in abundance, not the type of tropical life one gets from a jungle paradise untouched yet by the galaxy. Rather the hustle, and bustle of everyday life. Billions of sentient beings in constant flux well aware that they were on Coruscant and ever motion seemed a bit more hurried. The mix of life was amazing, in moments as he passed through speeder lanes he saw species he'd never seen before. It was an amazing world, and he was in love with it before he even arrived to the Senate.

The architectural wonders before him were enough to make his eyes widen like a small child. The Fringe had ancient wonders, and as a people were slowly pulling together their own unique culture. The Republic though was a rose in full bloom, and its flowering was before his eyes. He felt slightly out of place with his simple military uniform. He'd chosen it because it represented the entire Fringe better he felt. It wasn't an aggressive look with a thousand metals for self met glory, but a rather simple grey uniform that spoke of where the Fringe came from. He represented that past, but he was here to bring them forth into the future. A future of shared prosperity with the entire galaxy.

His courtesy guard from the Republic lead him towards @[member="Aleidis Ijet"] and her chosen meeting place with the Fringe representative. He had no illusions that he would need to prove his intentions, and that of the Fringe. Most of the galaxy saw them as over aggressive monsters, but in Sargon's opinion that couldn't be further from the truth of the situation. He did however happily note more Zabrak presence this far in the core, and Iridonia from what he understood was about the enter into the Republic, or had already. Here even his red skin blended into the background of thousands of different cultures. His hoped they would see that was the truth of the Fringe, it was a refuge, and second chance for anyone.

When Aleidis had been asked to meet with a Fringe representative, she hadn't been sure what to think. Sure, she'd already met Ashin Varanin and discussed their intentions in a clandestine fashion - but perhaps she wanted to make the understanding they'd had a bit more official. Or maybe this was simply a follow-up to that meeting. Who knew? Aleidis Ijet didn't. But she'd find out.

It was, after all, her job.

Sargon was greeted by a skinny teenage girl flanked by a pair of bodyguard droids - she'd come out of the Senate building to meet him, for the sake of being polite. Behind her, the massive building which housed the bulk of the diplomatic processes for the Republic's bureaucratic engine loomed overhead; ancient and grand, sparkling and magnificent. Aleidis offered a welcoming smile and smoothed her white-and-blue veda cloth robes, before bowing slightly as a gesture of good faith. "...you must be Ambassador Vynea. Welcome to Galactic City." The Ghostling chirped, her eyes a near-solid black and her skin glowing faintly with natural bio-luminescence.

"I hope finding the senate building didn't give you too much trouble - Coruscant can be a navigation nightmare for out-of-towners." The girl explained with a tiny smile, turning and gesturing back up the stairs she'd just descended. "I've already prepared a meeting room for us, if you'd like to follow me?"

Sargon was surprised when he saw the ghostling to say the least, and in honestly startled would have been the better word. He'd read files on the Chancellor, but until one actually saw the unearthly beauty of a ghostling you weren't really prepared for it. He did his best to not let it show though as he returned the bow in kind. He'd come with peaceful intentions, and a few economic possibilities some of which he believed the Chancellor was already aware of. He hope that at least some these may be passed, and at worst they'd prove the Fringe's intentions.

"No, your escort was very helpful in finding my way. I must admit you have a lovely world here positively teaming with life. I can see why there has always been so much attention drawn here from the galaxy. It is with honest hope that I say I hope its beauty never fades, it would be a loss for the entire galaxy." With a smile he followed her towards the meeting room his eyes still wandering among the senate building as he admired the work put into it. "I do wish this was just for pleasure, I'd love to take a tour of this amazing planet, but I do have an agenda. I do believe its an agenda that will benefit both of us, and improve relations, but I must sadly admit it is an agenda. I do thank you for taking time out of your schedule however, I've no doubt there are many things you need to be doing. I have only the smallest taste of it running Bakura. One planet takes up nearly my entire life, but an entire Republic? I wonder if your people realize what those in so called power give up to do the job, but better you then someone who will only see the power. Forgive me I dither on, the beauty of the city and its people overwhelms me."

Well, Ashin had certainly sent someone who had a way with flowered words. The teenager chuckled quietly and raised a hand as they walked through the crisp, clean halls of the senate building. "No need to thank me, Ambassador Vynea - this is quite literally my job." She promised with an easy smile. He was liberal with his praise and compliments, which naturally put her somewhat in a suspicious state of mind - after all, folk tended to butter you up the most right before they tried to shove you into an oven. "There'll be plenty of times for tuors and sight-seeing once we've finished our business." The Ghostling promised with a brilliant smile, as she led Sargon into a tastefully furnished meeting room.

A small table with six chairs around it sat in the center of a round room. In the middle of the table was a small basket of strawberries tied up with a smaller bow. "And don't worry about having an agenda - everyone who sets foot in this building has one." Aleidis promised with a dry smirk as she sat down, plucking a strawberry from the basket. "The people who don't? They're the ones I worry about." She snickered cheerfully, before biting into the succulent red berry.

"Have a seat - and help yourself. I grew these in my garden, you're more than welcome to take them with you if you like." She promised, dabbing the red off of her lips with a napkin. "Let's hear about this mutually-beneficial plan of yours."

With a smile Sargon sat himself down and chose one of the rather fat strawberries, taking a moment to enjoy its sweetness he smiles. "I'll be honest with you, Chancellor, I'm most likely going to raid your garden before I leave." Taking a moments he licked the juice off his fingers, his soldier's manners not quite catching the faux pas. "As to the things I'm here to discuss I believe you'll agree with me on their profitability. The Fringe has been continuously in a state of growth both economically, and in territory. I understand from your seat that may seem rather ambitious or aggressive in nature. I do ask you withhold such judgements though, the worlds we've brought under us have all had increased economic growth as well as social freedoms. The warlords who ruled most of the Fringe's new planets were nothing but despots, while we have a confederation system in which everyone has a say in the way they are ruled. I'll stop defending the Fringe however, as I'm sure you do have you will withhold judgement, a person with enough will for peace to find it with the Sith will I have no doubt listen to my worlds. The first item on the agenda is the Fringe would like to co-develop a hyperlane from Bakura to the core. While normally this be expensive to police the Fringe is willing to police an entire half. This will include the parts that are in unclaimed space." Stopping for a moment he stole another strawberry with a rather guilty look on his face before continuing.

"Not only would this help you get your goods out, but it would provide a safe route for refuges into the Fringe. I've recently had a terrorist event aboard a transport ship near Bakura with refuges. Your Master Jedi Darron Wraith was luckily there to inform us so we could find the bomb. On that note I'd like to add the Fringe's commendation of the Master Jedi's dedication to duty." Realizing at this point he'd become more then a bit long winded he attempted to shorten himself up. "With both of us sharing the burden of policing this corridor we stand to greatly increase our trade with one another with limited cost, and make it much more safer for merchants. Added that I believe as our military ships come to see each other as friends it will perhaps increase the chance for true continuing peace."

For a moment he stopped and simply stared at her, she seemed a bit younger for the position, but he supposed for someone to reach this height at such an age that she'd earned it. Either that or ghostlings simply aged slowly. It was odd watching her glow, not in a monstrous way, but more akin to an angel. With an embaressed smile he realized he was staring and looked down. "Pardon, I've never seen a ghostling before. I don't mean to be rude, nor inappropriate at such an important meeting."

"My main concern with such a hyperlane is - and I hope you'll forgive my caution - that such a thing pathway would be easily exploited in times of war." Aleidis explained patiently, folding her hands on the table. "Not that I'm doubting your intentions towards mutual benefice, but it's simply something I DO have to voice a concern about. The 'Lords of the Fringe' are a young group, with a great deal of ambition... and not the best of intentions." She explained with something akin to an apologetic smile.

"More importantly, there also lies the issue of territory. You see, such a hyperlane would naturally have to pass through the space owned by the Atrisian Empire - and they're none too keen on organizations like ours, who have Force users in positions of power." Aleidis sighed, producing a respectable map from a drawer at the table. She slid it over to Sargon, pointing from place to place. "Even if you were to try and snake through the gap between the Atrisians and the Protectorate here, at Thebeon and Botor?" Aleidis gestured, pointing to the tiny gap between the three nation's borders. "They've been expanding in that direction, and are liable to halt any traffic passing through if we look at the cross-eyed. At the very least, they'll try and tax us into oblivion, you know?" The teenager chuckled quietly.

"But I DO like the idea - and I know of a comprimise." Aleidis suggested with a warm smile. "You see, my predecessor had intended to bring business and travel to a neglcted section of the Republic. Up here - see this? Trevel'ka." Aleidis pointed out. "I spent months and months working on this planet - it's crowded, isolated, and suffers from a centuries-long plague and drought. They lack technology, hope - you name it. Just about nothing grows there but bjedies and boils, in spite of our best healer's efforts." Alei explained. "...but, introducing Trevel'ka to the Galaxy at large would alleviate that. Say, a young faction with a solid base of refugees, building a hyperlane with Trevel'ka at one end and their heartland at the other?"

"It'd be impossible for us to invade each other via such a route. But more importantly, bringing trade to Trevel'ka and giving the citizens someplace to go? Why, that'd prove your good intentions to the Republic, open a wealth of trade to both our peoples, AND circumnavigate the Atrisian's borders all in one fell swoop." Aleidis boasted proudly. "You get trade and the love of the people of Trevel'ka, we'd get trade and a new ally, and overall? Just about everybody wins. And that's my favorite kind of deal." The glowing girl said with a broad grin. "Such an out-of-the-way lane would be trifling easy to police - and of course, we'd split the construction costs and police our half. And in time, if we decide we've done enough good work together and want to strengthen our ties with more than simple treaties, it'd be easy for that Hyperlane to branch off at Tantorus and into the core, wouldn't it?"

Alei liked to think that Boolon would be proud of her for suggesting such a plan. She'd spent the better part of a year working tirelessly on Trevel'ka, honing her skills as a healer. Actually healing the planet would be vindicating on a level she was entirely prepared to accept.

When Sargon explained that he'd never seen a Ghostling before, Aleidis blinked in surprise and then gave a tittering laugh - more a giggle than anything else. For one brief moment, she was a mildly flustered teenage girl, not the duly elected leader of billions upon billions of lives. "Oh! Well - forgive me if that makes me happy. Most of my people only leave our planet in slaver's ships." The Ghostling admitted. If he'd never seen a Ghostling before, that must mean that the Fringe didn't traffic in many pleasure slaves, which was always a good thing in her book.

Sargon considered the map in silence as he thought things through. He understood her position on the hyperlane, but he knew something she didn't at that point. He was weighted with the choice of which road to take in the situation. On one hand he could make a real gain for two parties, but on the other he could possibly cause this to turn to complete disaster if she felt betrayed by what was in truth an attempt at lasting peace. "Can I be honest with you? I don't like politics, and while your absolute brilliant company is far from what I'm used to most of it leaves me with a distaste in my mouth. In my opinion its simply the art of saying one thing, and meaning another. So I'm not going to be an ambassador, or a politician. I'm going to simply be an honest man."

It was possible what he was about to do wouldn't end well for the meeting, or even relations. The truth however was something that would avoid many different hurt feelings late. "Your case for a hyperlane is right on perfect. We welcome all refuges in the Fringe, and its obvious the trade would help us both out. I am aware of certain things you are not though, Chancellor. As such in good conscious I cannot, but be honest and tell you that plan would never work for several reason."

Sitting back Sargon breathed out slowly his mind had become weighed by a doubt, and that doubt needed to be removed from the equation. Emptying the cup as Master Darron has called it. Releasing his emotional doubts Sargon cleared his mind of the separation between himself and the Force and let his awareness flow within it for a moment. Feeling calmer he smiled again at her. "No, we don't allow slavery in the Fringe. Some worlds we've taken into the fold of recent need some work in that area, but we can't force such sudden change. You cannot claim to be a refuge and indulge in such things. Though I will admit there are a few within who would disagree with that notion, but we are a people in the process of change of becoming something truly great I believe."

Standing for a moment Sargon took a datapad from his pocket which was simply information from the Grand Admiral supporting the actions he was about to put forward. "what if there were no empty space? I'm authorized to request a complete alliance with the Republic, and in truth I hope I can achieve that. Friends should be honest though, and so in honesty I will say we have no plans for that route to remain open. I would hope you could take my good honesty as a symbol for the sincerity of my intentions. If there were no empty space and we were willing to share the burden with you, as a friend, would you join with us in this en-devour for both our peoples?"
