GENERAL INFORMATION

Symbol: The Essonian Star-Pheonix (Soon to be subbed)
  • Religion Name: Followers of The Ashla

  • Religion Type: Force-Based Monotheistic (The Lightside of the Force is worshiped like a living benevolent god.)

  • Influence: Interplanetary

  • Description: The way of the Ashla is a simple one. It is love and reverence for the Holy Light, the one true god, the Ashla. Followers of the Ashla believe the Dark Side, or the Bogan, is not a natural part of the Force, but a cancer that has infected the Force via the intervention of sentient beings. They believe the Force and the Ashla are interchangeable. There are slight variations in belief as to the true nature of the Ashla, but the most commonly accepted form is that the Ashla is a sentient god formed from the combined consciousness of every 'moral' being that has ever died. To perish as such a person is to have eternal life in the Ashla. To do otherwise is damnation.

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Founder: The Followers of the Ashla have forged small cults across the galaxy since the fall of the Old Republic, all of which stemmed from Jedi that took a more zealous view to the Force. It is only the recent happenstance of the Grayson Imperium sponsoring their beliefs that the Followers have grown to considerable numbers.

  • Membership: Followers of the Ashla believe that so long as a being accepts the love of the Ashla into their heart, and works to make themselves a better and more moral person, they will receive eternal life after death.

  • Sacred: On a personal level, the Followers believe that positive emotions and the simple act of helping those less fortunate it most holy indeed. Their holy places are any areas where the Ashla makes her presence known in the material realm (Lightside Force Nexus), worlds intertwined with the Force such as Ossus and Tython, and particularly Coruscant for serving as the spiritual heart of the galaxy.

  • Dogma: The Followers follow a variant of Jedi teachings designed to serve non-force users just as they would a Jedi. They practice strict emotional control, though they celebrate positive emotions such as joy, fulfillment, and love. They are a fairly conservative and wholesome people, teachings their followers to have tolerance for all around them. Needless anger, pride, hedonism, and outright immoral actions are scrutinized heavily by the Followers. They disdain the Dark Side, and are taught to pity those that follow it as if they were mentally ill. They are taught to try and help them if they can, as one should help any sickly person, but if the disease is too powerful in their mind, to mercifully end their existence.

  • Reputation: The Followers have become quite popular in the last year or so. Small cults have cropped up across the galaxy, and a massive exodus from these cults to the core worlds of the Grayson Imperium after its sponsoring of their teachings have led their population to become rather notable. Those that are more keen on the teachings of the Jedi and the Light will likely find fast friends in the followers, and the many innocents of the galaxy might recount the acts of charity the Followers perform whenever they have the resources to do so. Other from more domineering societies will likely view the Followers as weak, spineless, and stupid for wasting their time on strangers. The Followers do not care much one way or the other, so long as the Ashla loves them, the opinions of mortals are of no consequence.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Followers of the Ashla have, in a way, existed since the dawn of the Je'daii Order, though by other names. They were the Jedi that saw the Light for what it truly was, the very heart of the Force. They refused to accept the lies of their fallen brethren - of the belief that there was a balance between the Light and Dark. These Jedi knew the truth: that the shadow was naught but a creation of men and women, and the Ashla was the Force's true form.

Small cults of varying names that espoused these beliefs have cropped up since the fall of the Old Republic. It is only within the last ten years that these groups have come together as a singular religious entity. The catalyst was the fall of Ession, which resulted in the surviving native Essonians turning to spirituality to justify the death of their world. They found a source for that need in the Ashla, and came to view the genocide they had suffered as the Light's great test. In surviving it, only the greatest and most faithful of Essonians remained. They swiftly militarized, and began to spread their teachings to any eager enough to hear.

Their leader, Cedric Grayson, began to sponsor these varying groups. These disparate gathering came to call themselves the Followers of the Ashla, and Cedric found himself at the head of the burgeoning organization. Emboldened, the Essonians sought to free Coruscant from the imperial yolk and bring justice back to the galactic core.

The Grayson Imperium was founded, ans the Followers of the Ashla were set loose upon Coruscant. Hundreds of missions to the lower levels were carried out, and thousands converted in a matter of weeks. The Followers have since grown to possess no small amount of political power, and their churches have begun to spring up throughout the galactic core. After years of chaos, the Followers' words of peace and stability were like the sweetest honey to the disgruntled citizens of the core.

I like seeing more religions subbed. Incidentally, I subbed a Jedi theocracy as an antagonist for Firemane a good while ago. Those were totalitarian oppressors though and thus very different. Regardless, let's get to the judging.

Since the religion is so closely connected to the Grayson Imperium, please hyperlink the faction. You can do that here or in the Links section.
