SPECIAL FEATURES

 • Electro-plasma Filament projection allows for the weapon to go head-to-head with lightsabers without breaking, as well as cutting through just about any material aside from those resistant to lightsabers

 • Locking mechanism allows it to attach to a variety of rifles and carbines as a bayonet

 • DION fiber prevents EMP/ion damage from shutting down the electronics within the weapon
Strengths:

 • Electro-plasma Filament: Taking influence from the Bilari electro-chain whip, the Flayer possesses several electro-plasma filament projectors. These provide it with not only the ability to parry lightsaber strikes, but cut through various materials a typical knife wouldn’t be able to. There are still limitations on this which are covered below.

 • Versatility: The Flayer can be used both as a hand-to-hand combat weapon and a bayonet, making use of its versatility in both close and mid-range.
Weaknesses:

 • Not Quite Lightsaber Quality: Despite the electroplasma filament providing excellent cutting power and the ability to parry a lightsaber, it isn’t nearly as powerful as a lightsaber itself in terms of cutting power. It can cut into most metals used in armor, but cannot cleave through them with the ease of a lightsaber, requiring substantial effort and many attempts in order to cut through denser materials such as duranium.

 • Base Metal Weaknesses: The blade itself is made out of duranium, a durable metal, but itself not resistant to lightsabers, meaning that even when used in combat against a lightsaber-wielding opponent, it can be struck directly and damaged to the point of breaking the blade and rendering it useless in combat.

 • Reach: The Flayer is first and foremost a knife, which limits its potential reach to the arm length of the user, a potential detriment in combat when reach is necessary.
DESCRIPTION

Non-force users tend to be at a significant disadvantage with the widespread presence of force-users in the galaxy, and as an attempt to mitigate that to some extent, the Flayer was designed. Utilizing similar principles to the vibro-arbir and the Bilari electro-chain whip, the Flayer possesses several segmented electroplasma filament projectors on both sides of the blade that allow it to withstand the heat of a lightsaber to parry and deflect strikes from the dangerous weapons. While this allows it extra cutting power, it’s still not quite on par with the lightsaber itself, capable of cutting through metals with effort though unable to cleave through as a lightsaber would. The electroplasma filaments aren’t the only thing present, however, and the blade itself is made of high-grade duranium, a sturdy metal with a sharpened edge that allows for it to be also used as a regular knife without activating the electroplasma filament. With several metallic connectors it can be utilized as a bayonet by attaching at the forward end of a rifle, stuck on a metal pole to act as a makeshift spear, or even held in hand as a typical combat knife. A diatium power cell allows for it to maintain an exceptionally long active time, and the installation of DION fiber makes it emp/ion resistant, making the Flayer a dangerous addition to any arsenal.
