Five O'Clock Somewhere

Verrin wasn't completely sure why he was walking back towards the Soggy Gungan on lower Coruscant. It had been awhile since last he had been there. A part of him wanted to check up on the Sith Lord and see if he was still there, and more importantly, ensure he wasn't causing too much trouble down in lower Coruscant. There wasn't a whole lot he could do to stop the Sith Lord, but that it was his responsibility as it was he who decided against telling the Council of what was really going on.

Another, much smaller part of him was curious about the Sith Lord. Verrin still was no expert on the various types of Dark Siders in the galaxy, but he was fairly sure they weren't like that. He let him live on what seemed like a whim, but the more Verrin thought it over the less it seemed like a whim. Did he not want to kill him? He was sure he could, and would, if he had to, but it was almost like the Sith enjoyed simple conversations as Verrin did.

Pushing open the door to the small inn, he stepped inside to the familiar sight of the worn, but welcoming, tables. The music playing by a new band from the stadium, well, he wasn't sure if they were new, but they weren't the ones who played last time. It shouldn't have been too surprising as no one could really work constantly. Maybe he had them on contracts, working certain hours every so often.

Verrin sat down on the same stool he had occupied last time, and smiled at the friendly bartender from last time, "Hello again, can I get some Zee Honey Whiskey, and I don't think I caught your name last time I was here."

It wasn't random as him ordering the Honey Whiskey was more to let the Sith Lord know he did not come with any intention of fighting... assuming he was indeed there. Last time Verrin wasn't able to sense him, and it wouldn't be surprising for him to still be able to despite his improvement in his Sensing.

"Turro's the name, Son, and I don't remember getting your name either.", the friendly older man said as he took a clean glass from the rack and eyed it carefully, taking a rag and wiping clean a smudge he saw before taking a couple of ice cubes and plopping them in the glass. He then took the glass and placed it on the bar top, tipping over a bottle of whiskey and pouring it in as the door to the bar swung open again, this time revealing a rather tall human man with long dark hair.

The man stepped in wearing a long, black juster that hung down to about his ankles, and as he stepped down into the bar he looked around, a pair of men following in behind him riddled in tattoos on their arms and necks. When he stopped there he was greeted with a nod from the bartender and a few waves from across the room where a few other men were gathered, sharing similar markings of the skin. As they waved, the two men with the tallest one leading the pack left him at his behest, his golden eyes catching a familiar site across the room sitting at the bar.

"Fancy seeing you here.", a deep and familiar voice said behind Verrin. Soon after, Christian Slade took the seat next to the tall, lanky creature that Verrin was and glanced over at him with a smile. "Honey whiskey please, Turro."

[member="Verrin Ris'To"]

"Verrin," he supplied adopting the older mans friendly tone. Despite what could be said about the man who owned the small bar, he had an eye for talent in his employees. Out of all the small cafes, bars, and cantinas he had visited, which weren't that many admittedly, this had the nicest atmosphere which was odd considering it was located in lower Coruscant where nice establishments were harder to find.

When the door opened, Verrin turned in his chair to see the man he had come to check-up on walk in. While they were both nearly the same in terms of height, he was much thinner and lanky then the Sith Lord. The long duster coat was an odd choice in clothing, and he looked more like a large bounty hunter or mercenary, but maybe that was the point? He doubted the man wanted to go around broadcasting, on Coruscant of all places, that he was a Sith. Now they were closer, Verrin could once again feel the aura and tremors the Sith left in the Force, but he still wasn't sure what to make of it. Maybe it would become easier once he faced another Sith?

"Thought I would drop by," Verrin said giving a, much smaller, smile in return followed by a sip of whiskey as he turned back to the front of the bar, "How has Coruscant been lately?"

"It's s good as it can be, I supposed.", he admitted, glancing over at Terrin with that typical smirk on his face. He then reached out and took the glass from Turro that he'd prepared, nodding his head to the man and saying, "Thank you kindly."

Taking a sip from his glass of whiskey, Christian turned in his seat and rested his left elbow on the bar, holding the glass with the same hand and letting his free hand rest in his lap. He faced the man as they spoke, showing him the respect of his full attention as it was most polite. "And how have you been holding up?", he asked, realizing that his conversations with this man that he was technically enemies with were of a rather friendly nature. It seemed that lately he'd been rather fond of Jedi, though he didn't quite know the alignment of an especially gifted young woman, [member="Katarine Ryiah"], he assumed that her heart was too good and her soul too pure not to become a Jedi one day when she realized the considerable grasp she had of the force.

Even he could sense it, that she was untapped potential just waiting to be found. He wouldn't weigh in on her decision, however, knowing and respecting that her path was her own and she would have to choose that for herself.

[member="Verrin Ris'To"]

It was strange. The last time they spoke, it was very tense, at least for Verrin, but the atmosphere did not feel quite the same. He still knew he wouldn't stand much of a chance against the more experienced force user, but he seemed friendlier this time. Last time Verrin felt more akin to an animal in front of a predator that found him mildly amusing and held off eating him to enjoy the show. This time, it was more like he was meeting an acquaintance and enjoying a pleasant conversation which was not something he had really expected.

"I have been doing pretty good. I got to explore some planets that I had always wanted to go, met a few interesting people, started training in healing, the normal Jedi related things," Verrin said pivoting his body to let his right arm rest on the counter to face the Sith Lord. Still, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was a little different about the Sith. Maybe he was in a better mood? Or this was how he always was and Verrin was just now seeing more of it.

"Do anything new lately?" He asked as it was part of the reason he came down. To ensure that he had made the right decision in not telling the Council who was spending time on Coruscant. Verrin had yet to hear of any mass murders so that was always a bonus, but the Sith hadn't really struck him as the type to do that. Then again, what did he really know about the man sitting next to him? Nothing really. Most of what he knew was from small observations and gut feelings which weren't the best and had failed him before.

"Going down that oh so bright road without a single reservation, are we?", Christian asked with a smirk and the slight shake of his head before he took another sip of his whiskey. He knew the Jedi was young and very impressionable, as most Jedi were when they were starting out as apprentices, but he could still sense that this one had a better head on his shoulders than most and knew that he would have some interesting encounters because of that one day. That dark side was never very far, even from a Jedi.

He glanced up into Verrin's eyes as he asked if he'd done anything lately, that gleam to his eye hinting towards yes as he admitted, "I've recently become the proud new owner of the Snake Eyes Casino a few blocks from here.", he said, taking a sip of whiskey and then saying. "I'm sure you remember it, considering you followed my guys from that very same Casino the day we met."

Christian was a very convincing man, considering that he didn't have all the patience int he world and he was the most powerful practitioner of Force Alchemy that he was aware of. Still, he preferred to do things the civil way if he had the option, and in this case he had purchased the Casino legitimately from the prior owner, although a bit of convincing had been done on his part. The sum he'd offered, however, was more than generous in his and the opinions of his men, some of whom protested that he offered too much.

"And yes, I've been up to a few things, nothing too interesting though. I'm certain you wouldn't be concerned about a certain young woman I've grown interested in, if that assures you that I've been keeping my hands clean... for the most part.", he said with a smirk, nodding in Verrin's direction as he did enjoy keeping people guessing.

[member="Verrin Ris'To"]

"I had some reservations," Verrin admitted looking away from the Lord and to his glass, "A lot actually. Was this the best use of my skills? Shouldn't I focus on combat skills, so I could protect as much as I could? But... when the galaxy is burning; I want to be able to heal what I can, and to tell you the truth," he said taking a small breath, "I don't like fighting. I will fight if I have to, but I don't like doing it. I have met a lot of people... even some I have fought, but I want to help them. I don't want to kill them."

Verrin wasn't sure why he had told the Sith that. Maybe because it didn't matter? What did the Lord care about his own reservations on becoming a Jedi Healer? Probably very little and that made it easier to talk about. His inner darkness was too close to the surface in a fight, but when he was healing, he was Verrin. It didn't make the hole in his gut go away, but it let him sleep better. When the galaxy was burning, victory was counted one saved life at a time.

"Congratulations on the Casino," He said raising his glass a little before draining the last of it. He didn't mean it snidely, but in compliment. Verrin hadn't heard anything bad or gotten wind of anything strange, so the odds were he wasn't doing anything too nefarious which was good enough for him.

Verrin raised an eyebrow at his talk of a woman, "Turro, may I have another glass please?"

While the drink was being poured, he turned back to the Lord, "A woman? What about her has you so interested?" He was generally curious. What kind of woman could it be to catch the Lords attention to the point he would mention her as something worthy of note. Verrin wasn't exactly the most experienced with woman, only platonic relationships, but he understood enough about sentient beings to have a general grasp on everything.

Christian smiled and nodded as Verrin spoke, taking a few sips of Whiskey between what he'd said. "I think you'd make a much better warrior than a healer.", he admitted, following up quickly after a sip of whiskey. "You've got a good touch with the force. That much I can tell, and medics don't have the best job. You're on the wrong side if you want to be a healer."

Taking another long sip of whiskey as to catch up, Christian finished his glass and slid it across the bar a ways towards Turro as if to fill his glass again. "Jedi might allow the wounded to be removed from the field. Even Rebels and Imperials would show that respect a lot of the time, but Sith? No... You go after a wounded comrade and run into the wrong enemy and you're as good as dead."

Reaching out and taking his refilled glass, Christian retracted his hand and propped it up against the bar again, nodding at Verrin in somewhat of a thanks for congratulating him on his ventures with his new Casino. He then glanced out across the room, looking over the patrons as they enjoyed themselves, one of his eyebrows popping up as he mentioned the young woman he'd gathered an interest in.

"Well...", Christian said, sipping his whiskey as he started. "She was just a waitress I came across one day who was in some trouble. I asked her to have a drink with me, but oddly enough she seemed too busy for me. I say that's odd because I am rather wealthy and I've never had much of a problem getting any woman I want to share their company. Not to brag at all, it's just always been my privilege.", he said, taking another sip to moisten his throat. "Well, you can understand that I was perplexed by her. She was so different from the other women, and so a bit of a game of cat and mouse began. I did the chasing of course, because I had sparsely ever tried with women, but she was almost impossible."

Glancing around the room again, Christian looked back at Verrin with a bit of a smirk as he continued his story. "It's not that she wasn't polite or rude or anything, she just didn't have the interest that other women had, which drove me mad. Well, after a little working on her, she started to come around, but then after walking her home, she had a visit from a bounty hunter as I was leaving. I had noticed something off before, but I couldn't tell so I went back and found that he'd attacked her and was coming to collect her when I intervened. I didn't show her what I'd done to the hunter, and I would never, but he wasn't going to be bothering her again."

Shrugging before he finished the story, Christian leaned back from Verring and rested his arm across the bar again as he took another sip of whiskey. "I took her home that night and took care of her because I was genuinely worried about her, though I don't understand why or how. I had only just met her, but she lived in a horrible part of town and she had been attacked. I... admittedly felt protective of her.", he finished, looking over at Verrin with those golden eyes as he added. "Don't call me a softy, lanky. I might be one, but don't remind me."

[member="Verrin Ris'To"]

"I'm not putting the lightsaber up," Verrin said taking his thoughts on him being better suited to a warrior as close to a compliment as he would probably get, "I will still practice with it as well as keep up with my other force studies. I am just going to concentrate on helping and healing rather then protecting and destroying."

He was going to take that to heart though. Would the Sith attack a medic trying to help the wounded? It does sound like something they would do, but with that, he had only met a very few dark siders, and the only 'true' sith he had ever met was sitting next to him. Still it sounded incredibly cruel as would they wish to be treated the same?Left to bleed out on the field because their side didn't employ medics as they could be attacked and were a weakness? He couldn't deny that it would be an effective strategy for the only side attacking medics, and it would hurt the morale of the opposing force.

Verrin did not speak or interrupt as the Sith told him about his meeting with the woman and only nodded here and there to show he was listening. It was interesting, attracted to her because she was something he couldn't easily have. The topic of the bounty hunter was met with mixed feelings. He was glad the Sith had protected the woman, but it didn't sound like he let him die quickly, or if he did, it was probably very painful. Was it right to kill the hunter? Then again, he could have gone on to do more evil to more people, but then again, was it right to kill him based upon what if? But what if it was sure that the bounty hunter would return? Verrin wasn't sure if killing him or not was the best choice, but he wouldn't say it was wrong.

It was interesting that he didn't know why he wanted to protect her, or more specifically, take care of her emotional well being. Maybe he was developing feelings for this woman that went beyond the normal lust the Sith felt for a beautiful woman? If so, he wasn't sure he really wanted to touch upon that as it would be crossing a line, and if that was indeed what was happening, it was between the two of them and not for him to stick his nose in. Lanky? That was right, they had never really exchanged names, but maybe it was better they didn't? An unknown sith and jedi occasionally getting drinks together, helps keep it all separated but Lanky and the Sith? Sounded like a child's holoshow.

"I would never dream of calling you a softy," Verrin said unable to stop the smile that slide across his face, "But she sounds interesting. Do you plan on seeing her again?"

Christian smiled back at Verrin, those golden eyes noticing that smile he displayed and realizing how rare it must have been for someone like that to display such a show of happiness. It was a curious thing, and he was actually quite proud that he was able to draw that out of the man, but as he asked him if he planned on seeing the woman again his own smile lost it's luster for a moment as he sank into deeper thought, his glass of whiskey rising from the bar top with his hand firmly gripped around it, the edge tipping against his bottom lip as he took a sip, his golden eyes staring across the bar at the wall blankly as he pondered that himself.

"I've... seen her a few times and I have to admit that things have become intimate already.", he said, just after gulping down his sip of whiskey, the sting catching up with him as he coughed ever so slightly and popped his right fist against his chest to clear his throat. "She's not a woman that I could choose to forget, I'm afraid. That, for me, is a rather curious thing all it's own that I haven't quite come to understand myself.", he continued to say, finally glancing back over at Verrin.

"I suppose this could be love.", he finally said, watching the young Jedi and wondering why the hell he was telling him any of this to begin with, but dismissing it, knowing that it wouldn't matter either way. "I've never been in love before, and this feeling is something the likes of which I've never experienced. Women have always just been... so easy. This one, though, is... different in every way from the typical, which some might find less than appealing, but on the contrary... I find it rather perplexing.

"She's really quite amazing."

[member="Verrin Ris'To"]

Love? Verrin had suspected something close to it such as strong affection, but he hadn't thought it had grown so fast and so soon. He had also assumed it would be even longer still before the Sith could admit he felt that to himself. Love was stronger then he realized, or the Sith was more in tune with facing his emotions then Verrin had known. Perhaps a little of both. It was surprising that he would confide that in him, but then it may be easier for him to speak to a 'stranger' that wasn't quite a stranger; the same as it was for Verrin.

Then there was the issue that he had admitted to being in love of the woman which was a strong show of vulnerability something he did not expect from a Sith. Wasn't power important to them, or at least, the appearance of power? But his experience with Sith was fairly limited, and this particular Sith had never really seemed like what he assumed Sith were like. Still, this woman did seem very amazing to have gotten so close to the Sith so quickly, perhaps their destinies were intertwined? He didn't know how it would end, or how it would progress, but he was... glad for the Sith.

"She sounds amazing," Verrin agreed taking a sip from his own drink as he had left it forgotten as he was caught up in the story and insight the Sith was giving him into his life and mentality, "I have never been in love, or even in a relationship, so I am not best person with things like this, but I am glad she makes you happy."

He wanted to meet her, himself, to see the woman who generate such powerful emotions in the Sith, but he felt that would cross the fragile wall that kept Lanky and the Sith, well, Lanky and the Sith. Could this woman end up influencing the Sith to pursue a new way of life? Perhaps leave the dark side, and its corruption behind to pursue a better, peaceful, life with this woman? Or was he reading too much into the future with a woman he had never met before? And it could be his natural optimism running over-time on his naivety, but he was allowed to hope.

"She is.", Christian admitted, glancing back over to Verrin as he took another sip of his whiskey, smirking at the man and nodding his head as he gulped the mouthful down. "Maybe you'll meet her sometime, but I doubt it.", he admitted next, turning in his seat to watch the band for a moment as he thought about how much time had passed since he'd met this Jedi and about the fact that he'd never really known much about him. He then decided that he'd stop talking about himself, despite the fact that Verrin seemed very interested in what he had to say, and change the subject.

"What about you?", Christian asked. "I realize that you may not have experienced love, but have you ever been close? Do you like any Jedi that you train with or is that strictly forbidden by your kind?", he asked, taking another sip from his glass as he turned those golden eyes from the state back to the young, thin man next to him. "What have you gotten into since last you set foot in this bar?"

[member="Verrin Ris'To"]

The sudden shift in topic surprised Verrin. He felt the conversation about Christian's love life couldn't really go on much further, but he had not expected to be asked of his own. "I have liked some," he admitted taking a sip, in fact, he was attracted to a lot of other Jedi and even a few pilots and smugglers he had met, "But it would have been too dangerous," he finished softly. When he was younger, and he first started to notice girls; it had been hard to remember that it was not good for him to try and create any relationships that weren't platonic.

"Not because I am a Jedi, but because I am a K'paur," Verrin clarified. While love was not something he believed Jedi should allow themselves, compassion and love for everyone, but romantic love was selfish, "When my kind," he paused trying to find the right word, "Sleep with or grows romantically attached to another, we develop a bond. It cannot be broken, and it will last the rest of your lives. If she or I were to try and compromise the bond either by sleeping with another or even trying to kill each other, the bond would kill us both. It can only end if one of us were to die by means outside our control, even then, it would be risky because the backlash would leave us feeling empty, void."

He paused, his eyes dull in thought, "I couldn't force that on someone. I won't force that on someone," he finished his voice soft. Verrin shook his head to clear his thought and took a large mouthful of whiskey, letting the burn help clear his mind.

"Anyways, I have done much. I met a few interesting people, fought an assassin on Kashyyyk, started my Healing training, as I mentioned, and I visited some planets like Tatooine," he said trying to steer the conversation away from his love life, or lack there of.

The spacer strode in with a gait that spoke of no discomfort, but just the slightest hint of doubt that maybe she had found the wrong Soggy Gungan. But this was the only Soggy Gungan she had ever heard of, and it did not seem to be a chain of any sort. Besides, there was live entertainment, which usually meant it was a decent place.

In truth, bars weren't her thing. She preferred to do her drinking in private, alone, where she would have a soft place to collapse after enough swigs of whatever gin or scotch she had procured. Falling asleep in one of these places was a bad idea.

She sidled up to the bar counter, glancing at the barkeeper briefly but avoiding eye contact otherwise. She was looking for someone, and it was not him. Naturally, the Jedi might not be here at all, considering that one did not usually have the time to be at joint like this around the clock unless they worked here. And he probably had important Jedi things to do.

But today seemed to be her lucky day. Just as the barman was about to inform her that the music was not actually 'free', she spotted the K'paur conversing with a darkly clad friend not too far away and crept into their vicinity. Straddling the open stool on the side of the Jedi opposite his associate, she gave him a little punch on the arm. "Hey there, Verr!" She did a once-over of his upper body. "Lookin' good, sport. Isn't bacta amazing?"

In Darkness I Thrive
Christian had been about to respond to Verrin's proclamation that he was going to be alone and that he couldn't challenge someone with loving him when it was so dangerous in the long run. Christian knew that, at least from his experience, there was no thing at love. At least, that's what he had thought until he'd met Katarine, a woman who he could tell was completely and totally enthralled with him, and one that even he himself could never imagine hurting in any way. He stopped himself, though, looking down into his glass and decided to proceed more carefully with this conversation, as it was a delicate one.

Taking a sip of his whiskey, Christian gulped it down before he finally said, "It's not about hurting the people you would love along the way. It's about realizing that you've found the only person you were meant to be with from the beginning.", he said, glancing over at Verrin before he finished the thought. "If you find the only one that really matters, then your conditions won't matter to them, and it won't matter who kicks that bucket first, because neither of you will be able to live without the other anyway.", he said, smirking at him and laughing lightly as he said, "Just try not to have any kids."

Christian then was surprised by another visitor who barreled into their conversation before another word could be spoken by either of them. As he saw the young woman, a bit rough around the edges and bold by nature, Christian smirked and took another sip of his whiskey.

"Speak of the devil...", he whispered, glancing away from Verrin and Corvetta with a sly look on his face.

[member="Corvetta Salvo"]

Truly, the force had an odd sense of humor. Verrin never would have expected a Sith, this Sith, of all beings to be the one to tell him that it was okay to love another. But today had revealed a lot of developments that he never would have expected. Whoever this woman was, she was truly something else. Still, the idea of hurting someone unintentionally, especially, some he cared about because of his feelings for them wasn't something his sense of responsibility could let him do. But what if he didn't have a choice? From what he was told, Christian didn't talk to that woman expecting such feelings to develop; they just did. It was outside his control. Would he ever be able to do that though? Could he just close his eyes and let himself fall? He wasn't sure he would find the answer until it happened.

Verrin couldn't fight the small smile at the joke about having kids something he had never really thought about, "No promises. The galaxy may need more little Jedi running around," he was almost envious of Christian's ability to turn a conversation that was very... serious into something more lighthearted whilst still addressing the issue.

So caught up in his musing, he had not noticed Corvetta enter, or even slide up next to him. The light punch on his arm completely caught him by surprise. His instincts screamed at him to defend himself, but the name Verr instantly washed the feelings away. He had only met one person, one woman, who had ever called him that, and their meeting had been very brief. Turning his head, he wasn't sure why he was so surprised to see her, and she was just as he remembered her. That same quirky feel that was... pleasant. He wasn't sure how else to describe it, "I wish there had been bacta. The village didn't have any, so it wasn't very quick or clean," Verrin said as the wound he received fighting the monster and the assassin was completely healed leaving only a long thin scar across his left hip. The wookies had odd medicine that smelt terrible and was incredibly painful.

Verrin felt like he was going to snap his neck as he turned to look at the Sith, "It's not like that," he said hastily as from the sly smirk on the Sith's face and the conversation they just had... "We are not, I mean, it's," he said trying to find the best way to explain it, but he was incredibly flustered by the sith's assumption, so it wasn't easy to formulate full thoughts, "complicated."

[member="Christian Slade"] [member="Corvetta Salvo"]

She saw the other guy mumble something but could not pick up on it. He seemed to be enjoying things, though. She gave him a casual salute and a warm smile as she listened to Verrin's Wookiee talk. "Did they use a witch doctor or something?" she inquired. "I've heard some crazy stuff about the more isolated villages on Kashyyyk. Frakkin' weird if you ask me."

The flygirl turned to the barkeep and ordered a small bit of Mantellian brandy. It was no big deal, she supposed. She could hold her liquor if she kept it to a minimum. Distracted for a moment as she was served her drink, she caught the final few words as Verrin and his buddy mumbled something somewhat energetic. Oblivious to the topic of their whispered exchange, she left them to debate how complicated the kloo horn melody in the current dance number was, or how complicated the ingredients of their beverages were--or whatever it was they were talking about. All she knew was that it was complicated.

Finding a slight lull in their complicated musings, Corvetta pressed out a wrinkle in her jacket's blast skirt and then turned back to Verrin, brushing her hair back out of her eyes. "So, what's your friend's name, Verr?" She looked across Verrin and smiled at the other man.

Christian's smile only grew as he watched Verrin's reaction to what he'd said, his teeth slowly coming into view as his lips drew tighter across his face, finding what was happening quite humorous. He even stifled a laugh with his free hand, bringing up a fist to cover his mouth for a moment. He then coughed lightly as if to pretend he'd been about to cough before and raised his other hand, tipping his glass to take another sip of his whiskey, gulping it down and reaching out to set it on the bar as he said, "Heh. Whatever you say, Lanky.", as he gave him a sideways glance, one of those golden eyes flashing shut in a wink before opening again and focusing on Turro.

"Hey, Turro. Fill me up gain please.", he said, waiving him over with his hand, to which the older bartender made his way over and filled up his glass. "Also, these two are drinking free.", he said reaching out and grabbing his filled glass as with his other hand he motioned to Verrin and Corvetta before taking a big sip of whiskey, sighing as it stung it's way all they way down his throat. He then leaned slid off of his seat and stepped towards Verrin, reaching across him and holding out his rather large hand to shake Corvetta's

"Christian Slade.", he said, a confident look on his face as he waited for her to take his hand as he nodded towards her in respect. "Your friend here likes to check up on me from time to time because he thinks I'm the big bad wolf.", he explained to the young woman coupling with his explanation that charming smile he was becoming famous for.

"Or something," Verrin said as the Wookies were... that was not something he wanted to go through again. 'Natural Remedies' weren't something he every wanted to run into again, "They use insect heads for stitches, and I don't really want to think about what was in the ointment," he finished with a small grimace as he could almost remember how terrible it smelled. The entire experience was not something he really wanted to do again. Next time he went to Kashyyyk, he was going to have to try harder to avoid swords.

His mouth opened a closed a few times as he tried to think of something to saw. The wink that Christian had shot him had struck a cord somewhere in him. It really wasn't like that, right? He had only spoken a few words to her before this. Sure, even though he hadn't had a lot of contact with her; he would admit she was interesting. From the purple highlights in her hair, the slight bronze tone, and her... odd way of speaking and dressing gave her a certain quirky light that was, almost, endearing, but that wasn't... Verrin gave a defeated sigh as he drained the last of his own whiskey to buy himself time to recompose himself. The fact that Christian had suddenly let them drink free was odd. He never offered that to him, so maybe it was because of Corvetta? He slid his glass forward intending to take advantage of it. A Jedi's credits allowance wasn't very high, so it would save him some credits he could use to do other things.

His name? Verrin had no idea. He leaned back in his seat to make it easier for Christian to shake her hand. Christian Slade? It was better then what he expected. He was almost afraid Christian's name was Darth Trocious or something else along those lines. He didn't know why, but he did not like the smiles they offered to each other. He knew it was just friendly, but he found it a little annoying, "Someone has to do it," Verrin said trying to get his mind off the sudden influx of unexplainable annoyance.

Corvetta made a disgusted face as Verrin described Wookiee healing procedures, slurping most of her drink as she listened. "Frak," she commented with... great sophistication. Her spacer-speak was always preeminent. "Sorry, would have brought you to a serious medcenter but our buddy Grax was set to cruise. I guess reunions are kind of a streak with him. But he's alright." She was hoping to learn a little more about her captain friend, but she did not want to spoil their spirited conversation.

"Big bad wolf, eh?" she repeated after emptying her cup of brandy. Normally cautious about drinking publicly, free drinks sounded too good to pass up and she requested a refill. She nudged the Jedi with her elbow and joked, "He can't be too bad. He's giving us drinks." Leaning forward to make better eye contact with Christian, the pilot raised her glass and grinned. "Thanks, skip. Didn't know you owned the place. It's gotta be pretty classy since you got Jedi guys hangin' out here."

As she brought her drink to her lips, she caught a bit of uncomfortable body language being broadcast by the Jedi. Replacing her glass back on the counter, she simmered down a bit and tapped Verrin very lightly. "You okay there, comrade?" she asked in an unusually soft voice for her, sincerely sympathetic.
