OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a species developed by a disturbed geneticist who was intent on creating the perfect duo of warrior races. To create a new race for writers to use when creating (non) player characters.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Experiment 046: Designation 'Firronthix'
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins: Smarteel
  • Average Lifespan: 130 Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Semi-Unique
  • Description: Although appearing to be physically similar to humans, they are distinguished by two-toned hair colors, and sharp canines. Additionally, they've inherited a small number of notable features from their parent species such as a natural resistance to Force-assisted mental tricks, the ability to see into the UV spectrum, and being able to emit pheromones. They are considered by humans and near-humans to be very attractive.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I atmosphere
  • Average Height of Adults: 1.85 meters
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Tan to dark olive human tones, varying into some shades of orange and gold.
  • Hair color: Red, blue, brown, black, white, silver, pink. Two or more tones or colors are always present.
  • Eye Color: Hazel, silver, amber, brown, green
  • Distinctions: Firronthix appear similar to baseline humans, but are most easily distinguishable by their two-toned hair. Sometimes mistaken as fangs, Firronthix sport sharp canines that typically grow in by the time they reach adolescence. Other physical traits include a nictitating membrane, which can protect their eyes from dust and debris, a rapid healing factor (which results in silver scars), improved hearing, a second liver, an extremely high metabolism, narrow eyes, and a tendency towards lithe, but powerful musculature.
  • Races: N/A
  • Force Sensitivity: Standard
Strengths:
  • Due to their Firrerreo heritage, Firronthix are capable of seeing into the UV spectrum.
  • Firronthix have a rapid healing factor, which allows them to sustain injuries far greater than any baseline human and survive. However, its potency is only a mere fraction of that of their Firrerreo ancestors', preventing them from maintaining a prolonged battle presence in the case of severe injuries.
  • Firronthix are also capable of displaying a degree of strength that appears disproportionate to their size.
  • Their hearing is comparable to that of most canines.
  • Capable of emitting low-potency pheremones.
  • Firronthix possess a second liver, which allows them to imbibe more alcohol than the average human.
  • Firronthix feature a natural resistance to most Force-assisted mental techniques.
Weaknesses:
  • Extended usage of their ability to see into the UV spectrum can cause severe eye-strain, which may result in permanent injury, damaging their sight or completely blinding them.
  • Their metabolism is highly dependent on a high protein diet. Coupled with the Zeltron's equally high-metabolism (which is more general, and not protein specific) Firronthix require much more food than average human. Twice the typical diet, and four times the protein.
  • Due to their enhanced hearing abilities, loud noises may stun and/or disorient a Firronthix. Permanent hearing damage may occur as well.
  • Unlike Zeltrons, their telepathic and empathic abilities were completely removed from their genome. Furthermore, general emotions are dulled, resulting in difficulty expressing oneself.
  • A Firronthix's resistance to Force-assisted mental techniques is not absolute and maybe overwhelmed if the Force User is sufficiently skilled.
  • Firronthix must make a conscious effort to maintain their mental shielding, unless they've otherwise been properly trained.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Omnivore, however Firronthix require a very high-protein diet.
  • Communication: Primarily spoken language, however barks, growls, baring their teeth, and other canine habits are often used and exhibited to communicate, typically as warnings and/or threats.
  • Technology level: Galactic Standard
  • Religion/Beliefs: N/A
  • General behavior: Firronthix have a tendency to create small, hierarchical tribes which tend to be either very defensive when regarding strangers, or outright hostile. Internal hierarchy is determined via perceived strength of an individual, proven either through combat or 'dominant' behavior. As such, strength and ability to assert oneself are both highly valued traits among Firronthix. Those at the top of the hierarchy are looked to as leaders, though every Firronthix is highly independent, which often leads to challenges of combat being issued in an attempt to take over the leadership position. Occasionally members may leave a tribe for the same reasons, instead of issuing a challenge, in order to govern themselves. Although these individuals are not shunned, they do not benefit from any tribe's support, and are left to fend for themselves.

Every Firronthix is expected to be able to fight, and they often take pride in their combat ability. Perceived slights or offenses between tribes (which may include verbal insults, theft, assault, killing a tribe member, etc.) often results in open hostilities between tribes, however due to the species' small numbers, these hostilities rarely escalate to a point where deaths occur.

Internal offenses are typically dealt with by tribe leaders, who act as judge, jury and executioner. In cases where the leader is not alerted to the situation, or refuses to mete out judgement, Firronthix will often take matters into their own hands, typically via challenges to combat. So long as no deaths occur, these challenges are largely permitted, and often affect the members' hierarchical ranking.

Mating preferences vary among members of the species. Some may seek out a life-long partner, while others may seek multiples or none at all. Courting is equally varied, although combat challenges have been known to end with mating, either due to high compatibility between combatants, or as an expression of dominance. It it occassionally said that unprovoked challenges are expressions of interest.

The Firronthix are a nocturnal species, but have been known to adapt their sleep habits to better suit their situation when necessary.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Originally commissioned by House Haka of the Serenno system, Kaminoan geneticist Glorii Te set out to craft a pair of perfect killers. One, an assassin, capable of dealing silent death, and the other, the Firronthix, would be ruthless warriors. In order to do complete his project, Glorii Te made many requests of House Hakka. A secret laboratory on a secluded planet. Genetic samples of some of the best warriors, killers, thieves, spies and assassins from around the galaxy. And of course, money.

House Hakka provided, and they were patient. Most of Glorii Te's experiments were utter failures, dying before or soon after release from their accelerated growth tanks. The Firronthix were the first successes. Released on the cusp of adolescence and kept separated from their opposite gender, the Firronthix were forced to face any manner of deadly tests, challenges, duels against each other, both to train them, and to weed out the weak. Most Firronthix would die during these first few years of life, either to the gruesome tests, latent problems arising from their genetic experimentation, or at each others' hands.

Stage two began a few years later, and the Firronthix were introduced for the first time to their younger cousin species, the Kazelrrians. Assigned by the doctor, each male Firronthix was partnered with a female Kazelrrian, and each female Firronthix with a male Kazelrrian. Careful pairings chosen to both compliment their partners' abilities, but also to encourage strong emotional bonds.

Less than six months had passed since the pairings began before Glorii Te's experiments were finally interrupted. A pair of Jedi, who had been called to investigate House Hakka by their rivals were led to the doctor's secret lab on Smarteel, where the doctor was detained and his experiments were discovered.

The experiments were then taken back to Alliance space, where those who showed an affinity with the Force were given the option of joining the Jedi Order, while the remainder were admitted to orphanages.
