FINN ROBERTS

BACKGROUND

Life on Nar Shaddaa wasn't the easiest.

Especially not if you were born to one of the handful of legit families on the Smugglers Moon. You know - those that make an honest living. Or try to, being surrounded by an ecumenopolis of criminals. But everyone made it work and Finn had a decent early childhood.

Until the Jedi karked it all up.

Because for all their space wizardry, they couldn't tell the difference between criminals and legit merchants. Finn remembers the day well - he was still a child, hiding behind a crate while the supposed justice raid took place.

And they took his childhood along with his parents' lives.

He became one more orphan in a sea of orphans. Many of them become little birds for the warlords and spymasters of the sprawling city. Eventually, Finn also became one of them. It was here that he became friends with another kid - another little bird. Derrick Aimes' story was different from Finn's only in one aspect - his mom was an actual criminal.

Together the two boys grew up with a vast array of skills learned on the streets of the cutthroat Underworld. Eventually heisting a small speeder grew into commandeering ships. And just two boys grew into a crew.

And eventually they acquired a ship of their own and the ragtag group became the crew of the Phantom Queen.

And Finn and his crew became hunters of the wealthy and a bane to the "good guys'" existence.

PERSONALITY

Normally a charismatic and cocky man with a great want for adventure and a taste for some of the finer things in life. He does, however, tend to become somewhat serious when it comes to fighting and keeping his crew in line when looting. Deep down, hidden to the world, is the desire to be loved and to feel safe, like he did with his parents when he was a boy.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

STRENGTHS
​

+Fighter- Having grown up on the streets of Nar Shaddaa, Finn knows how to use his fists and use them well. Even when disarmed, this man is dangerous as he had to fight his way to survival.
+Fearless- Finn is not afraid to charge head first into the fray, guns blazing - especially when cornered. He also does not shy away from hand to hand combat and would usually be the first to take on opponents when boarding, inspiring courage in his crew in the process
+Bladesman- He knows his way around a blade as well - any blade. As he had to grow up using what he could get his hands on to fight, he learned how to use a melee weapon. He may not be a Jedi, but he's not far behind when it comes to bladework.
+Gun Enjoyer- Oh yes, he likes his blasters as well. The Smugglers Moon is a harsh mistress - she taught him well how to survive and guns fall into that category as well. The first time he nearly shot his own foot off, but in time he learned how to use one and use it well.
+Charismatic- Finn can charm a dog off a meat wagon. And he knows his jawline can win him brownie points with the women. When he's not in a serious situation, he knows his way around a conversation - especially to keep someone busy while someone else pickpockets them.
+Loyal- To his crew. He would walk through Haran and back for them as he knows they'll do the same for him. Everyone else be damned.
+Thief- He's good at stealing things - either on or off a ship. Being a streetrat, he learned early how to lift pockets and shops.

WEAKNESSES

-Pirate- Better steer clear of the ship that bears his crew's mark - or suffer at their hands. They are merciless when boarding. There's no redeeming this man who especially hates Jedi. He will act against a status quo just to prove a point. The motto - we are many, they are few.
-Non-Force User - For all his skills, Finn is still not Force Sensitive and that can count against him in the long run in a fight against a Force User.
-Outlaw - Finn isn't one to run in a designated lane. Having grown up on the orphaned streets of Nar Shaddaa, he has a kneejerk reaction against authority - especially those that go against the freedom of taking what one wishes. Just as you think you can control this man, he'll veer off in a different direction than you intended.
-Anger management - Finn has a short fuse. It doesn't take a lot to send him into a rage and do something on impulse. He's usually cool and collected in a fight, but if you can piss him off well enough, he can be baited into a mistake.
-A front - Finn usually has some kind of woman at his hip when he's at port and his charisma wins him all the points he needs with anyone. But hidden from view is merely the wish to be wanted and kept. Having grown up as an orphan in cutthroat world, he is the deep seated want to just be loved - be it by friends or, heaven forbid, a family. But that will never be revealed. Right?
-Trauma - Hidden from the world is a deep seated fear of losing anyone else that managed to get Finn to care about them - this is pretty much his crew. Touch any of them and he loses it. Having watched his parents being murdered at a young age would give you a bit of attachment issues.
