Finley is a tall man of medium build, lean from years of intense physical training and the demands of his current duties as a Jedi Knight and a ship captain. Often far away from voyages far from civilization, he usually dresses for comfort over style. While always clean when able, he often sports a small stubble and is prone to let his hair grow out into a small messy mop while out on assignments.

BIOGRAPHY:

The oldest child of a Green Jedi Consular and a Xenobiologist, Finley spent the majority of his formative years with his other three siblings being shuffled around the galaxy as his parents took on new assignments from their respective organizations. It was a bittersweet existence - while able to witness and participate in incredible experiences from planet hopping, he was always goodbye to new friends he made along the way. As result, he was quite close with his siblings whom he counted as his best friends, particularly his twin brother Torran.

His parents weren't blind to the toll that their constant travel was taking on their children, and travel became much more restrictive as great wars began to break out, so they made the decision to return to Corellia, where they thought their children would be safest in the heart of the Omega Protectorate.

How wrong they would be.

But for a time, Finley and his siblings mostly flourished in a more stable environment, though he still preferred the laid back atmosphere of his mother's agri-world of Balamak. His father became professor at the prestigious Corellian University, and his mother a researcher a biotech startup. Times were good for the Dawson family, though in the background there was rising anxiety as conditions on the frontlines against the One Sith and other adversaries deteriorated. The Core was no longer safe. While his parents tried to keep a positive face in front of him, sometimes at night he and his siblings spied them arguing. About what to do with the children, or if their father should return to active duty against the rising Sith tide. For his part, Finley poured himself into his studies to forget about the wider galaxy. As result, he excelled in all his courses, putting himself on the fast track for entry into CU.

None of that was to be, as his world literally rip apart from a violent paranormal storm the rocked the entire galaxy. At the time when calamity, he was in orbit touring a shipyard with his class. He was cursed with a horrible front seat to the destruction of his planet and community before having to fight for his own survival as the shipyard was torn apart by molten debris. He and some of his classmates just barely made it back to their shuttle to escape the system before the whole facility was dragged down to Corellia as a great fireball of twisted metal.

His life was spared as he was able to escape, but he still suffered greatly as much of his immediate family was wiped out - his father and his oldest siblings on the surface. Only he, his mother, and youngest sister survived as they were offworld at the time (his mother and sister visiting with family in the Mid Rim). It was the same story for most of his extended family and friends who had been trapped on the surface of Corellia.

During the aftermath of the crisis, Finley remained with a Corellian patrol unit until he could make contact with his mother. From there, he finally got his wish to live on Balamak as some kind of cruel joke from the universe.

On Balamak, he became a shell of his former self, basically withdrawing from the world, spending his time fixing up an ancient scrapped speeder he found in his great uncle's barn. In the same way he had poured himself into his studies on Corellia, that hunk of junk became his whole world for the better part of a year. Just like that dead machine he endlessly tinkered with, he became cold and distant. Eventually, after "helping himself" to some components from other machines, he got the speeder working again, and would use it to just wander for hours at time.

Growing increasingly concerned for Finley, his mother contacted a family friend, another Green Jedi who had transitioned to the Silver Jedi Order as a refugee. This Jedi, Zaze Ameran, eventually tracked down Finley for an intervention. Numb for most of the year, he gave into emotions for the first time, initially in angry outbursts when directly confronted, then a complete breakdown as he finally began to grieve for his losses. After a lengthy discussion over the course of several days, he agreed to return with Ameran to the Silver Order (then based on Voss), to complete his training started under his father.

Slowly, Finley opened back up as he finished his training and went through the trials, but he was never quite the same as before. Now he was always aloof, hiding behind humor and snark so that he wouldn't betray his real feelings.

Upon being knighted, he joined the Explorer Corps and has been with that division ever since, coming full circle as he followed in his father's footstep trying to do some good in the galaxy through enlightenment.
