Finding Purpose: A new age of growth ((open to all))

Xander took a deep breath dressed in simple slacks and a short sleeve t-shirt. In his hand he carried a a small bag that contained everything he owned. It was not much but it was his. Truthfully in contained mostly clothes and that was it.

He took a deep breath and looked around only recently having gotten used to being away from home. He had half expected to be met as soon as he stepped off the shuttle but would not be to broken up at the chance to wander around on his own for a bit before he headed off to the Academy. It would give him a chance to survey his surroundings and get used to the layout.

Checking the time Xander set his bag down on a stool sitting in the one beside it and ordered a tea.

When his drink arrived Xander smiled taking a sip of it. It was good for washing away the thirst for a man who flat refused to touch a drop of alcohol. He had seen more times than he wanted to remember what drunk people were like. That an he got into enough fights as it was without adding another reason. He glanced out of the corner of his eye as the empty stool beside him was taken by a girl who looked to be around his age plus or minus a few years. He turned giving her a quick smile before going back to his drink.

Looking to see what time is was he knew it was about time to be heading towards the temple. Last thing he needed was to be late for his first training session. It wouldn't look good on him. It didn't help being around a new group not knowing how they would reaction or what he would be required to do to make up for it.

Xander would take one last looked around seeing who he mite run into before deciding to head off towards the Academy.

Xander sipped the last of his tea before a noise behind him diverted his attention. He sighed turning towards the sound. It seemed as was common in pubs full of half to completely drunk people a fight was breaking out. The reason never mattered as it was usually something silly to down right ridiculous.

Turning to the girl beside him Xander slid off the stool.

"It may be a good idea to call whatever security forces this place has."

Xander calmly strolled over to the two men his focus on the apparent instigator.

"Gentlemen surely whatever qualms you have can be resolved without tearing up the furniture."

Xander motioned towards the bar.

"What do you say we step over here and work this out over a cup of caf?" "You are freaking out the other patrons."

Kal'n hadn't frequented this establishment often and when he did he didn't dare touch anything with alocohol in it. He wasn't sure if Padawans were allowed to drink, but he thought best to not even chance it. He was enjoying his own tea in a small corner booth, reading over some texts he was told were a good read on Jedi Philosophy when dealing with war. It was dull, but readable.

The Masters at the Academy had always said 'Be mindful of the future, but be present in the here and now.' Kal'n was neither, at some point while reading the texts his mind had drifted and he was day dreaming, again.

It wasn't until the loud commotion of two aruging broke him from his day dreaming that he realized he wasn't even paying attention. He clicked his tongue against his teeth and looked around, if a Knight were present than the situation would be handeled quickly.

After a moment he noted [member="Xander Stanforth"] get up and move to speak to the two men. Xander didn't look like a Jedi to Kal'n....but he had been wrong many times before. Kal'n wasn't sure where to draw the line on 'being a pushy jedi' and 'minding your own buisness, but two on one was not very fair if thats where it was headed. Perhaps his mere presence could help disolve things?

He pushed himself from his seat and while looking very much the part of a Jedi. Brown robes and two lightsabers on his hip he slowly made his way near the scene, though he said nothing and instead offered a simple smile to anyone that looked at him. For the moment Xander appeared to have things well under control.

Xander looked at the two men for a few minutes trying to judge how this was going to go down. One of them told his to piss off, the instigator of course, the other one actually looked like he was considering the offer.

Xander took a few steps back towards the bar but still facing the two gentlemen as he did he noticed a new face appear in his field of vision. He looked at [member="Kal'n Drasco"] giving him a smile and a nod but held up a hand as if to say to hang back. The last thing Xander wanted was for things to escalate. Xander called over his shoulder to the bartender.

"Hey can you get my friend here that cup of caf and put it on my tab."

He looked at the calmer of the two men and motioned him towards the bar.

"Go ahead it's on me."

Kal'n remained where he was, offering a nod back to Xander when the man recognized him. It seemed as though Xander had things well in control though. Still, it was better safe than sorry. He looked from Xander to the two men, he did his best to study their body posture, their facial expressions and general attitude. Your average person wasn't nearly as good as a Jedi and remaining calm.

He also stretched out with the Force, doing his best to get a general idea on how they felt. On...tch. Too many people. Kal'n told himself, he could get a general feeling for the area but his own skills were not yet adept enough to accurately pin-point the two men before him. If they had been alone than he was sure he would be able to do better, but as it was he only felt the tension and general uneasiness of the establishment. They are on edge, wondering if something is about to happen.

It was at that moment that Kal'n paid very special attention to the instigator, to make sure he didn't try to go for a hidden blaster or any other weapon of the sort. If everything went smoothly than Kal'n would return to his seat and think nothing of it. However, if either man went for a weapon of sorts Kal'n would do his best to yank it from his grasp with the Force and bring it to his own waiting hand.

Xander took a brief minute to turn his head towards the bar. As he was turning back the instigator threw a punch at Xander's jaw. The lucky thing about drunks is they were slow and had poor aim. Xander easily slapped away the punch spinning the guy around and putting him in a head lock.

"Really.................." "You sure you want to take things that direction?" "I am trying to be nice here."

A few minutes later two guys stepped in wearing uniforms. Xander saw them out of the corner of his eyes and turned pushing the instigator towards them.

"Gentlemen you are just in time." "The fine fellow needs a ride home."

Xander chuckles but complies as he is instructed to put his hands up and not move.

"Easy now fellas...was just trying to keep the peace her no need for that." "You can ask anyone here."

Kal'n was quickly reminded why he often avoided places like this. Drunks always had a way of messing things up. So he wasn't surprised when one of the men tried to take advantage of Xander as he turned away. Yet, it was to no avail. The drunk was sloppy and clearly a ballroom brawler while Xander had some sort of training and extremely quick reflexes. The drunk was neutralized before he realized what happened. Good, he thought.

Seeing that everything was clearly in hand Kal'n was about to return to his seat when two officers came in. Someone must have tipped them off, which again Kal'n figured was a good thing.

It wasn't until the officers began to follow their protocol that Kal'n realized he could be of some use here. While he wasn't a Knight yet, he was still a Jedi and that carried some amount of authority, though Kal'n had not idea exactly how much. He clicked his tongue against his teeth and stepped forward, hands up palms out in a calming manner.

"Thank you officers for your prompt arrival, I am Jedi Kal'n Drasco. These two," He gestured towards the instigator and the other man. "were causing a ruckus and were about to fight when this man stepped in." He gave Xander a smile as he stepped past him and towards the officers.

"I'm sure he would be willing to provide a statement, as would I." Kal'n stopped walking then and lowered his hands to his sides.

The two men looked at [member="Kal'n Drasco"] before one of them shook his head to the other. He turned to Xander and asking for his indentification. Xander nodded taking his free hand and pulling out a small datapad extending it to the Officer.

"Yes Sir, here you go." "I was just on may way to the temple to report in." "Was thirsty from the long trip decide to get a drink first."

The Officer looked at the pad reading off of it.

"Xander Stanforth." "Says here you are one of the new Padawans." "Not a good way to start things off Mr. Stanforth."

He handed the Datapad back to Xander.

"It was a young woman who called it in where is she?"

Xander took to slow steps back as a young woman sitting at the bar slowly raised up a hand. She slowly stepped up seeming to keep part of her body blocked behind Xander.

Just as Xander was about to say something the bartender interjected painting Xander as simply a concerned citizen attempting to disfuse a volitale situation.

After a few minutes the two officers seems satified turning to leave dragging the instigator along with them.

As the seconds ticked away Kal'n became more at ease with the situation, with the Officers here it wasn't likely that anyone else would start any trouble. Even the general feel of the building wasn't as fearful and wrought with tension as before. He gave the people one last look before turning about to sit back down and pick up the datapad he had been reading before the whole situation unfolded.

It was unlikely that [member="Xander Stanforth"] would get in any trouble for stepping in. His dark blue eyes moved back down to the information he had been reading before and he took a sip from his own tea as he tried to regain a comfortable position and pick back up his train of thought.

Xander nodded to [member="Kal'n Drasco"] as the man turned back to his reading. Despite being swung at Xander still felt like he had dodged a bullet. More than anything Xander felt he had probably overstayed his welcome.

He grabbed his bag from the stool where he had left it giving a nod to the bartender dropping some credits on the bar for the drink. He then smiled to the young woman that had been sitting beside him.

"Hey stay out of trouble will you."

He winked at her as she gave him a puzzled look before turning towards the door. Xander headed towards the Academy, towards the next chapter in his life. His biggest hope being that here among these Jedi he would find purpose. Not just any purpose but a purpose worth being proud of. He chuckled to himself wondering if Jedi were actually allowed to feel things like pride.
