"What a Rancor?" Asked one of the kids. Hawk ignored the kids questions as he stood in front of them. Preparing to use whatever means necessary to survive.

The announcer ignored Kay as he continues his speech. "The Rancor weighting three tons..is undefeated. He has taken out Rathtars, Dragons and Sith apprentice. Let's see how he does against the Jedi,". A crowd cheer went up.

Hawk looked around. He couldn't see the crowds but hearing them. Unseen audience great. "Don't think they care Kay. These people are soulless."

"THE GAME BEGINS IN 60 MINUTES!"

Kay stepped back towards Hawk as it seemed that she was being ignored. "Sixty minutes? We have no weapons, haven't eaten or drank anything all day and they want us to fight?" She frowned and looked to the children. "We'll need you all to hide. Hawk and I will have to do this ourselves. The oldest among you must look after the youngest. Split up into two groups, maybe three. And no matter what, let Hawk and myself deal with the Rancor on our own."

She looked around at the trees and the ground. "We're going to need some rocks and big sticks. If the Ewoks can defeat the Empire with them, then we should be able to take care of a Rancor." Of course she kept any Force use out of it. Much of what she knew could hardly do a thing against a monster.

He didn't like the idea of the kids hiding. "No! Can't protect them that way. We have to stay together." He tells Kay. He refused to separated from Maddie. "Where can they hide? We are in area for frak sake. It's not a real forest."

"We will defeat them. The force is weapon enough.". The kids looked to Kay than Hawk. They don't know what to do. Maddie held,on to Hawk's hand.

Kay understood that Hawk didn't want to be separated from his daughter. She would probably do the same. She frowned. "What are we supposed go do? It's not like I can make the Rancor not fight us by healing it. We have no weapons! Are we just going to push it to death?" She chewed the inside of her cheek as she gave herself an idea. "What if we strangle it?"

"Yeah we strangle it. We can force throw rocks or whatever at it. We will do anything to defeat it." The kids listen to them. "We can help." Says Maddie.

"Yes you can all of you can do that." He tells the group. "For now we mediate conserve our strength and wait."

It was about all that they could do besides counting down the minutes. "Gather some of those berries too, and throw them in it's mouth. If they are poison, that should help slow it down."

She sat down and wrapped her arms around some of the kids when they joined her. "We'll get through this..." The last thing that either of them wanted was to become a sporting attraction.

 

[Darth Ferus]

"Well now, look at this. Another pickle? You just can't learn to stay away from trouble." That oh so familiar voice sounded off from behind [member="Lady Kay"] . The form of none other than Darth Ferus, a man she knew so very well, stepped out from behind a nearby pillar of this ring. Ever so casually he walked towards the group, and past them, stepping between the Rancor and it's prey. Never once did the man let his eyes waver from the beast, even as he continued to speak.

"I told you, you can't die yet." Lightning ripped down his arms. All throughout the crowds cheering sounded off. This was unexpected for sure! And the announcer wasn't gonna let that go unaddressed. Rolling with it, the man spoke up, practically screaming into his mike. "AND AS A SPECIAL SURPRISE, I PRESENT A SITH LORD! NOTHING COULD TEST OUR PET HERE BETTER, SHALL WE SEE WHAT HAPPENS!?"

The deafening roar was enough of an answer.

Hawk nearly jump out of his skin when a voice sounded behind him. He must have been more tired than he thought to miss a Sith Lord presence.

They seem to be on the same side for now. Hawk gave Kay his daughter to hold. He wasn't going to let the Sith do all the dirty work. "Friend of yours?" He comments to Kay. Leave it to Kay to be friends with a dsrksider.

Hawk step forward to stand near the man.

The Rancor yelled and howled as it stomp it feet. It was used to his prey fearing him. One clawed hand reaches out toward the men.

Ferus. So that was what they had felt earlier. It was his dark presence. In a way she was glad to have him there to help fight, but at the same time she wasn't glad. How did he know where she was? His network of spies must be vast, otherwise he had some kind of tracker on her and she was unaware of it.

Kay took hold of Maddie and kept all of the other children with her. "Be careful, Hawk..." This day was full of surprises and she wondered just how many more there would be. "Stay with me, keep an eye out for anything else."

What dud Ferus mean when he said that she couldn't die yet? He had something planned for her and whatever it was, it couldn't be good. And now they quite possibly owed him for coming to their rescue. Great....

 

[Darth Ferus]

There would have been a chuckle for the Jedi as he stepped forward, but time wasn't on his side in this case. A massive clawed hand was. With an added burst of the Force the Sith leapt up, letting the claw swipe under. His form twisted and the lightning on his arms burst outwards towards the Rancor with a crackle of electricity. The beast roared, stumbling back as the current went through it.

"Less distrust, more killing the beast, aye?"

Ferus landed on the ground to the left and a snap hiss filled the air as a blood red burned into existence.

Hawk didn't have time to response to Kay concern as the Rancor swiped at them. Hawk force leaped in the air at the same as Ferus. The Rancor clawed missed both men. Hawk landed on his feet as the Rancor was struck with the lighting.

With a flick of Hawk fingers, he force pushed the creature into side of the area. "I'll pin it while you fry." He tells Ferus.

The crowd in area roared with excitement as the two men battled the rancor.

Kay ignored the crowd. For now. It wasn't as though she could see them anyways. At least the battle with the Rancor drew all of the kids' attention, so they stuck close to her and didn't run off.

As soon as she saw Ferus ignite his lightsaber, she urged the kids further back, almost losing her breath as Maddie squeezed her neck a bit too tight. The boys of course were in awe and eager to watch. Maybe he could use the saber to break them out of their. Both Kay and Hawk had no weapons. Hawk's father wouldn't allow them to bring them, not even hidden ones. It was a bad rescue attempt of the kidnapped children. And here was Lord Ferus to save them all. She did not like trying to guess what that would mean.

Between the both of them the Rancor laid dead in the area. It neck twisted strangely to one side. Some of the crowd cheered and booed them.

"Free us." Says to the crowd. "Not so fast Jedi. That was just a first test. Let's see how you do against two Rathtars." Hawk frowns slightly. "All by yourself without any help from the Sith. That battle will commence in 30 minutes."

Hawk walked over to Kay and kids. "30 minutes...it barely enough to recharge my batteries."

Kay frowned as she heard the next challenge. She also didn't quite like the fact that Ferus disappeared. But maybe that was his plan all along, to give them a false sense of hope. Or maybe he disappeared to make sure that she didn't die.

Maddie ran to Hawk and hugged him tight as he approached. Kay wasn't quite sure what a Rathtar was. "Guess that means it'll be my turn..."

Hawk hugged Maddie tight. "I don't know Kay. Are you up for it? There will be two of them. Rathtars are pretty mean." He only seen them in holos. He didn't want anything to happen to Kay. "You are going to have to use the force. I don't know of any other way to beat them.

They were mean, huh? That could probably describe everything that they'll encounter until they are all dead. "I'll do what I can. Two might be easier than one. I can pit one against the other. That'll leave the rest of you safe." One could be used to force the other down. Yeah. That could work. Maybe. At least in her mind. She didn't have any weapon to help. She just didn't want to imagine how things would be if it was only the children there with no one to defend them. Prana was one sick and twisted being...

Time was ticking away. "Ten minutes before the next battle." Hawk put Maddie down. "It might work. Just watch out for their tentacles. If they grab hold of you." He left the rest unsaid. The kids were clustered around Kay and him. They were scared for her.

A sly smiles comes across his face. He whispers his idea to Kay. "Get into one of their minds. Direct it to attack the other..or better yet get into both of their minds and have it attack King Prana."

King Prana and Nate watched from Prana box seat. Nate kept the concern off his face. This wasn't was he had planned. Those poor kids. Prana would keep sending things in their until they were all dead.

"Enjoying yourself Nate?" Prana asks. He eyes Nate. The man thought he could hide his feeling. It was written in his body language. Nate's right hand had formed a fist.

"Yes. your Majesty. It should be a good battle."

Kay nodded as she heard his advice. They had tentacles? Great...His suggestion of getting into their minds wasn't a skill that she knew how to do. But that didn't mean that she still couldn't get them to fight eachother.

She gave them all a thumbs up and headed over to the centre of the arena, away from Hawk and the kids. Now it was time to focus and wait those few minutes that she had left.

The doors soon opened and the Rathtars came out quickly, gnashing their teeth and hurling towards her with their clusters of tentacles reaching for her. She gathered the Force around her and channelled it towards the one on the right, using a Force push to send it to the other one and pin it down. Their mouths snapped open and shut, so she pushed their tentacles into those mouths. Each bit off a couple of tentacles in frustration and anger.

Kay let up the Force push to give them all a moment to recover. The Rathtars' anger grew to a frenzy. Yet when they started to attack again, she used the Force push to send the other one into the first one and held it against it. Again there was a lot of biting and again tentacles were torn off. Animal instincts took over when Kay released them and the two just fought eachother to the death.

As both lay in bloody heaps, Kay looked up to where she thought Prana was. "Come and fight us yourself, you big coward! I think plenty of your customers would pay to see that!"

Hawk drew the kids closer to him as he watched Kay battle rage on. He cheered when the two beasts turned on one another. "Yah." He hollared. The crowd went wild at all the excitement. Best battle ever.

The crowd laughed at Kay's comment. The King Prana smiled at her. He waved a hand to the crowd. The crowd quiet down. "I wouldn't stand a chance against the fearsome Jedi that took out my rancor and defeat two Rathtars. Ahh don't fear there more to come. I will send my greatest warrior to combat the both of you."

Hawk didn't like the sound of that.

Kay didn't like the sound of that either. That fight took a lot out of her as the beasts were quicker and tougher than she thought.

She stepped back over to Hawk and the kids, trying to hide her worry as a few of the kids ran over and hugged her,giving her their congratulations. "His greatest warrior? Why do I feel as though the odds against us have been stacked even further?"
