"Yeah I'll show you." Jewel says moving in front of Kay and the man. Nathan allowed Kay to guide him along since he had hibernation blindness.

He glances down at Kay. He could see shapes and the blurring edges on Kay. "Thank you." He says quietly as they follow Jewel on the stairs.

It wasn't until they were near the medical section. Hawk's screams were echoing down the hall. Nathan hand forms a fist. "We must hurry. He is in pain."

At least Jewel was co-operating. She followed her, guiding the man and helping him on the steps. "You're welcome, sir."

Kay soon heard the screams and quickened her pace a bit, not too much in case the man tripped. "Not again..."

Moving quickly as they could the trio reached the medical center. Doc breathed a sigh of relief when Jewel and Kay came in. He took a step back as he saw the man. Jewel had really freed one of the force prisoner. "I've done everything medically I can to calm him down."

Nathan moved toward his son. The force and the screams guiding him. He place a hand on Hawk's forehead. "Shhhh it will be alright now. Just sleep." Even though Nathan and Hawk had issues. It hurt him to see his son like this.

Hawk quiets down and falls into a dreamless sleep. "Tell me how he ended up like this?" He blinks his eyes as begins to see much better with each passing moment.

Kay breathed a sigh of relief as Hawk calmed down and slept. Finally he was resting. She figured the man was somehow related to Hawk or knew him.

"He fought a Sith and lost his hand. I didn't see it happen as he had locked me in a room.." Dumb move on his part.

"You mention that before. Why was he fighting? What was he fighting for?" He questions Kay. "Why is he on this ship? Did you captured him as well for your amusement?" His voice rumbles. Doc glances at Jewel.

Jewel didn't know what to say. She was a little afraid of this man.

Kay glanced over to Jewel and the doctor, before looking to the man. "I didn't capture him. I'm Hawk's friend. We were on a mission to destroy something and just when we were about to go to Hawk's home, he encountered a Sith and fought him. While we got away, Jewel....took us in as Hawk's ship was badly damaged. Right away she had Dr. Hutchison work on him to heal him. And that takes us to where we are now.."

Nathan watches Kay closely for signs that she was lying to him. She wasn't. "Was it destroyed? I don't think it was or he wouldn't be suffering like this. He is somehow connected to it."

Nathan shakes his head. "You didn't listen to me. I told you it was too dangerous." He scolds Hawk awhile he sleeps. "So friend of Hawk do you have a name?" He asks Kay as he looks at her. "I'm Nathan...everyone calls me Nate."

Kay sighed and shook her head. "We threw it in some lava. I told him to send it to a black hole, but he didn't want to. The last I knew, it was still there. Hawk had me locked up when I fell asleep, so I don't know if he tried to get it back or not."

She looked to Hawk and then to Nate. "My name's Kay....So, you know him?"

"Lava? That wouldn't work. Black hole not a bad idea. ..you just got to close enough to be sure." His son was so foolish. "I am his father."

Jewel tucks a lock of hair behind her ear. "His dad? You look to young to have a kid that age." Nate tries hard not to rolls his eyes at Jewel flirting with him. "Just don't! I don't have patience right now for you." He tells Jewel.

She knew a black hole would work, especially if it was placed into a ship with a direct hyperspace jump towards it. As Nate remarked who he was, Kay gasped. "His father? No wonder there's a strong connection between you two..."

Kay glanced at Jewel, then returned her attention to Nate. "How can we help him?"

Doc offered Nate a blanket and examine him. "Not right now Doctor. Let's take of Hawk than we can deal with my needs." Nate rubs his scruff chin as he thinks how to break the connection.

"Obviously we have to destroy it. Right now we can set up blocks in his mind to help ease his suffering. Unfortunately, Hawk won't allow me access to do that. We have issue." He didn't want to go into right now but Hawk was the one that sliced off his hands.

"Kay, do you know someone who could help with that?" Nate thought he could sense the force in her.

Kay took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I can help to try. Though I've never tried to mess with someone's mind before..." She wasn't very comfortable with letting her secret out, especially as Jewel would hunt ones like herself and sell them. For sport..

"I understand. I will guide you." He says his voice sounding rough. "Once you enter his mind. I will link with your briefly and tell you what to do. Hawk can't be aware of my presence in your mind. He will shut us out."

Hawk mumbles in his sleep. Jewel frown slightly. It wasn't her name he said. It was some other girl..

"Alright. Understood." Kay approached Hawk and then placed one of her hands on his forehead, closing her eyes as she focused on him and in seeking a connection. "Hawk? It's me, Kay. Guess what? I managed to post pone the wedding. Or rather you did as you're not doing well. Just hear my voice. You are safe and you need to relax...Okay? You are safe..."

Hawk felt Kay's brush his mind with her presence. He could her voice, Kay told him that he was safe and he believe her. Kay would never lied to him. His mind slowly relax allowing her to connect with him.

Nate stood by quietly observe Kay. He wondered about their relationship. Only someone close to him would be able to get Hawk lower his defences..

She felt him relax, felt his body ease from tension and his breathing slow to a softer pace. It was working. Still she touched his mind, trying to sooth him even more so with her words. "Your still hurt. Doctor Hutchinson hasn't been able to heal you because you didn't trust him. You were blocking him from helping, even though you might not know it. But he's a nice man and only here to help. So just keep relaxing. I'll stay with you."

She opened her eyes and looked over to Nate, not sure of what else she should be doing until it was his turn to guide her. She hated trying to hide him from his own son.

Hawk trusted Kay with his life. He knew the doctor was only trying to help. He allowed himself to relax even more allowing Kay access to his mind.

Nate nodded. It was time. Kay did wonderful job. Nate touches Kay shoulder to link with her. He whispers in Kay's mind. "Now slowly search his mind for his connection with the amulet. When you find it...you should know what happened to him. That is where we will create a barrier to ease his suffering."

"That's right Hawk. Keep going. You're almost at the perfect state to help yourself heal."

Kay had heard Nate's words and nodded, closing her eyes as she still kept her hand on Hawk's forehead. She didn't think of anyone else. Instead she had to try and search his mind for that stupid amulet and figure out how the two were connected. She had a funny feeling that she wasn't going to like what she found...

Hawk could feel Kay searching his mind. Flashes of recent memories could be seen. The fight with the Sith. Hawk losing his hand. The pain of each event coursed through his mind. The amulet was in the middle of it.

The amulet was also aware of Kay's presence in Hawk's mind. The amulet did not like interference.

Kay watched the duel in Hawk's memory. So that's how he lost. She could see black lightening clinging to him from the amulet. It was hard to see at first, but then there it was. And she could almost swear that she saw a pair of eyes in it.

She swallowed and imagined a ball of light Force energy moving towards it, trying to envelop Hawk in it and create a boundry.
